Husband asked for his card to be…

Husband asked for his card to be replaced (in branch) and they replaced mine instead in error then cancelled the card that I was using leaving me with no way to access money over a bank holiday weekend. No warning at all and I only found out when I went up to pay for a meal which was embarrassing.

They have also messed up our remortgage in the past, couldn't get our B account set up smoothly (messed up the direct debits) and their kids accounts have a terrible lack of usability.

Most branch staff are ok but recently a few newbies who are rude and don't seem to know what they are doing.

We have all our banking here but will be moving ASAP as I do not trust them with our money.

I very rarely write reviews

I very rarely write reviews - but i have to say avoid this bank for business. i applied on line and heard nothing - though i knew they had my application as their card payment team contacted me (who where very helpful) only to find as a new business i needed solicitors letter etc. fair enough as i do not bank with these people - but the rudeness of both of the customer service business team was appalling. My own fault should have read the other reviews and looked at opening times etc etc. i bank with various banks personally and every single one on them is streets ahead in terms of customer service. The 25 months free banking for a new business was a real bonus for a new small business - but you get what your pay for.

B at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank

B at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank in many ways manages to combine some of the best features of High Street banks with those of “fintech” upstarts which allow virtually all processes that are offered to be performed with a smartphone.

I have always found that the B app works reliably. It offers the ability to annotate transactions and check back on them for years, send funds to 3rd parties with minimum fuss, and crucially also to pay cheques in reliably using a mobile phone - a facility as yet not offered by several High Street banks, and rarely by the new challenger banks (not by Monzo nor Starling for instance). Furthermore, with its rather sparse branch network in the south of England and in Wales, the ability to deposit cash or large cheques is taken care of by the facility to use Post Offices for these purposes: what's more, you can do this without charge.

The accounts also offer the facility of a cheque book: paper based transactions may continue to decline, but will surely not completely disappear for some time yet.

On the downside, the app is not particularly efficient at notifying transactions as they arise and does not anticipate debits or credits already ‘in the system’ nor (on the traditional banking side) can fully detailed statements be downloaded for more 3 months in arrears. International charges are also rather high.

So, I look forward to seeing what future developments will arise, and hope I will be able to stick with B indefinitely.

Old bank with hipster face and unreliable systems.

Visited B Works in Manchester and got seduced by the whole concept of smart fast simple bank with cool co working spaces, free coffee and interesting events and workshops.
Once I started the procedure to open the bank account I realised that B Bank operates like a very old bureaucratic bank despite the “young and simple” branding.
Was asked a huge amount of personal and banking details, it almost looked like I was applying for a loan than for a “cool and easy bank account that makes your life so much easier”. The procedure was halted by several IT problems on their system and the bank staff in charge of opening my account had to go and talk with her superiors at least 4 times to make sure she was following the correct procedures. Was given far too much paper documents despite them sending it via PDF on my email. The security system relies on unsafe memorable questions like “the name of your wife, of your dog, your teacher the city where you were born”. All those questions can nowadays easily be deduced by visiting someone's social networks. Setting up the app was also overly complicated. My savings account was missing. I was told is a “common issue'' as if that makes it ok and that it would “appear” soon on my system. When I finally got the card and the first paper statement (despite asking to just send digital copies to avoid wasting paper) I decided to deposit some money. The app said I was no longer authorised to use it. Customer support made me try to uninstall it and install it again …. are we still in the 90s?
That did not work, my passwords despite being correct did not work. After 40 minutes I got told my bank account was closed and they did not know why and the only person who knows is already gone home so I have to wait at least a day to have an answer. I'm glad I did not deposit any money. Despite the branding and welcoming modern spaces, B is an antiquated bank which relies on a dated unreliable and unsafe system. I do not believe it makes for a safe place to store my money.

Terrible bank / poor service

Terrible bank, appalling customer service. Trying to be modern and relevant but failing in so many ways. Having a bright shiny store does not replace the lack of staff training, poor systems, and ongoing complaints from customers. I read the negative reviews before trying to open an account but proceeded (well attempted to) open an account anyway. Cost me a £15 rail fare to try and still failed as their systems where down for over 8 hours. Promises not for-filled after weeks waiting. Not a bank I could ever recommend. Opened an account with Monzo in 5 mins whilst trying to get through to their complaints team for the second time. Doubt this brand will exist unless major changes are made, which is probably unlikely.

I think I'm one of a few that actually…

I think I'm one of a few that actually love my bank. I have tried and hated all the other's for one reason or another. I get through on the phone to customer service straight away 99% of the time. They help me always straight away when its regular bank account issue's. If it's a fraud issue it's abit of a pain that this can't be dealt with on weekends and you can't get your money back before a fraud team member deals with the claim of fraud on your account. In saying this it wasn't an all bad experience as I was given a temporary over draft of a set amount to be paid back on the day of my choice in full. I could change the day if claim was going to take longer. Fraud is a serious issue so I understand it's got to be dealt with in appropriate way of investigation. It is also people that have no money etc left and can be and should be dealt with Monday to Sunday as The B Account is an Online Bank Account by Clydesdale Bank so online means 24/7 anytime. So I think a little bit faster on this although you did offer me overdraft to cover me and never charged me for it either. I see a few reviews on here and I think it's aimed at certain issues and anger in the moment. I can personally download my bank statement onto any device and send them or print them if needed. I've also been provided with certain transactions due to fraudulent activity. If police are involved then they are responsible for contacting bank to get an accurate account of what has happened. The bank have a duty to refund your money in situations where you aren't at fault. I've phoned a few times now before 9am and been given the wrong advice and I've simply said can I speak with your manager or can you check that is correct information. They do and it's sorted. Remember new staff have to start somewhere and even experienced staff might get it wrong but in my personal experience it's always been fixed. I can't fault them on customer service at all. There bank charges aren't steep either and if needed they will return in good faith for you. Listen no bank is perfect we all know this. I feel The B Account with Clydesdale Bank is pretty close for all my financial needs.

Clydesdale Rebuff

Went into Dingwall Branch to exchange £160 of Clydesdale £20 notes to English notes prior to our forthcoming visit to Wales.
I queued to be served, only to be told that because I do not actually have an account with Clydesdale, I would not be served. Told the lady that I had come into this particular bank because the notes were all Clydesdale. Not interested.
Any thoughts of dealing with this crowd immediately diminished, fast.

Immature account - avoid

When I set up the account using the mobile account it all seemed fine. However it impossible to access the account from a PC. The login leads you through a series of questions and then says "I can't do that now - come back later". What a waste of time. This is an immature bank account and I wouldn't inflict it on anyone else.

World class customer service

Clydesdale has 24 hour call centres so I'd there is an issue you can speak to someone in the UK 24 hours a day. The B account is absolutely a lifesaver with the intelligent banking features built in is a must have for a student or someone who is budget conscious.

10/10 would recommend

I have 30 years in banking and in…

I have 30 years in banking and in particular the payments industry running payments for debit/credit for major banks overseas and in the UK.

Clydesdale is taking banking to a new low level. Basic information is unreliable at customer service, the internet banking infrastructure is very clunky. I have had to change passwords on numerous occasions and same password that I use in other accounts. My card got declined at a merchant and then at an ATM got informed that the account was not linked for ATM withdrawals. The complaints letter received told me that ATM's are very secure and complicated, Didn't answer my question in regarding why they issued a new card.

Prior to Xmas ATM withdrawal wrong amount. Reported to Clydesdale as Sainsburys ATM and that a dispute transaction should be forwarded to Sainsburys Bank and yet to hear a word. i was asked if they were a LINK member the explained what LINK network did for transactions and was not relevant to my dispute.

Sad to say moved back to RBS where it just works as it should.

A terrible bank

This in my opinion is one of the worst and slowest banks for a mortgage process ever, and in the end through their own internal miscommunications they declined our application and kept our £650 valuation fee. They are truly incompetent and mislead the customer through the entire process which took over 4 weeks. I would never use this bank again for anything.

This bank is unbelievable poor

This bank is unbelievable poor. I rang on 7 November and they insisted that I didn't have an account with them even though I had the paperwork with the account number on, in front of me. They then told me they couldn't see the account as it was a fixed term deposit! I have been told I can not have access to see the account on line either! I was told someone would ring me to open up an ISA as I couldn't register to do this on line either. No one rang. Now it is 20 days later. I rang again. They have now admitted to having tried a wrong tel number - I gave them all the correct details at the time of applying. They don't know whether their sales team will be able to call this week. They clearly do not wish to have me open another account with them. And it takes them 8 weeks to deal with a complaint. They haven't even assigned it to anyone yet - 20 days after my first call.

I recently posted a negative review of B bank after they shut my account and didn't leave me with any way to either withdraw my funds or find out why the force closed it in the first place. Since then they have just given me the runaround. This review is in protest over their appaling customer service. Called so many times... Sorry can't help, can't give an info. Nothing. Went to a branch , same Thing. No help no progress no way to get my money out. This is beyond insane. The bank is acting like a thief. I can't believe a UK bank can get away with such terrible customer service. Deeply disappointed and still no closer to resolution. Shame on you.

Think the bank is about to collapse or something

Unexpected account closure, cannot use debit card, app or even login to online banking. No prior warnings or anything. Called hotline, customer service say the account is lock there is nothing they can do and I have to go to a branch. Went to a branch today, same thing happened, nothing they can do they claimed. Overheard another customer having the same situation. At the end one of the representatives let us completed a same day transfer form to transfer our remaining balance to another account. Wouldn’t even let us print our statements or check our balance. Completely absurd.

"B" Dreadful

Like a number of others I opened a B Account about a year ago but CBG found an excuse not to pay the £250 incentive despite the requirements of the account being met. On top of that their customer service is truly dreadful. An appeal to the FOS with their banking bias was a waste of time

I am closing the account

New online banking service it…

New online banking service it absolutely atrocious. Even when logging in I am asked for my Card number, Account number and Sort Code - all the things we are advised NEVER to enter all these details online. This was supposed to be getting reviewed but it is still happening.
For years, in order to carefully manage my money, I used to transfer money from my current account to my savings account on pay day each month. Now, because my pay date varies each month (I get paid on the last Thursday of each month) I have to set up a new standing order each month and cancel the one from the month before. It is a straight forward transfer from one account to the other but Customer Service Advisers refer to it as a Complex Transfer that has to be set up each month.
I have been a Clydesdale Bank Customer for almost 30 years but now have to move banks because my local branches have closed and the online service is totally useless. Avoid at all costs.

I pay for a lot of things online and to be honest even robbers wear a mask. First of all I transfer the exact amount of funds needed for my purchase, fine money goes in, money comes out my account reads 0. A day or two later I am overdrawn the exact amount that has already come out so need to pay the same amount again so paying twice for the same payment. I am currently in the middle of switching banks as I'm missing about £200 but get the usual reply of nothings wrong even though I can see I'm paying twice for everything. Avoid at all costs.
