Simple, efficient, stress-free car hire!
I had spent some considerable time searching for a car rental company, which offered cars for hire in Portugal, but without a monstrous (€2,500+) deposit. To be honest, I cannot remember how I found Zest Car Rental but I am extremely happy that I did!
Free cancellation... Zero excess insurance... Unlimited mileage... Great range of cars and, best of all, just €450 deposit.
From start to finish, the whole process was simple, efficient and totally stress-free - what more could you want!
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Zest Car Rental and will certainly use them for any future car rental needs.

SCAM
SCAM! Took 100% advance payment and refused service - Booking BFLDV7
This company operates a complete scam. They take 100% of your money months in advance, use your funds, and then actively refuse to provide the service when you arrive, keeping every single Euro.
My booking BFLDV7 was fully paid. Upon arrival at the counter in Alghero today, their partner Noleggiare actively REFUSED to hand over the car based on an arbitrary internal regulation regarding our standard driving license, which perfectly complies with all EU and international Latin-script standards. The agent literally wrote "REFUSED" on our paperwork and noted that we were unable to collect the car.
We did not cancel. We were not a "no-show". We were there on time demanding our vehicle, but we were locked out and denied service. Now, Zest Cars support is trying to legally rob us by stating it is initially cancelled for "no refund".
Taking full advance payment for an unfulfilled service that your own partner actively denied is pure theft and unjust enrichment. They are fraud stars hidden behind fine print. If a 100% immediate refund is not issued to my card, I am taking this directly to the UK Financial Ombudsman, Trading Standards, and initiating a bank chargeback for digital fraud. Avoid this scam brand at all costs!

We booked our hire car after comparing other people's experiences on local facebook groups. We are happy that these reviews were accurate in their description of the level of service provided.
Prices were very competitive and additional options like transponder were explained at time of booking.
The collection point was easy enough to find and the staff on duty were friendly and helpful.
The vehicle provided was clean and had a good level of spec and served us well during our trip.
We used Android auto for sat nav and found this perfect for our needs.

I've used Zest for many years and never had any issues. In fact quite the opposite. I've been unfortunate enough to have had to cancel bookings on a couple of occasions and they have dealt with that very efficiently. Would recommend to anyone.

To provide some clarity, your vehicle was booked for collection at 14:30; however, due to your flight arriving later than scheduled, the local provider held the booking for as long as possible before classifying it as a "no show" in line with standard rental terms. In these circumstances, local providers may require a fee to reinstate the booking and release the vehicle.
As noted on our booking vouchers, it is essential to contact us in the event of any flight delays so that we can liaise with the rental provider on your behalf and protect your booking. Because we weren't notified of the delay, we unfortunately weren't afforded the opportunity to assist you at the time.
I hope that despite your disappointment on this occasion, we can be of service to you again in the future.
