I have been working with the fabulous staff at Adopted.com for several years looking for my biological daughter who was adopted when I was 18. They have been astonishingly helpful, supportive, and efficient in providing assistance with my search. Together, they have helped me try many ways to find my daughter in a sensitive and confidential way. I recently tried uploading DNA data from an older profiling service, but the file size was too unwieldy to use. Adopted.com staff provided valuable answers to helping select a service that would work with this website. They did not tell me which service to use, but combined with the information on DNA service partners on the website I was able to select 23andMe whose data outputs are fully compatible with Adopted.com's database. As it turns out, the results I just received from 23andMe included the name of my daughter (from their database), and I have sent her a message. I also was able to send this information to her birth mother, whom I have remained in contact with just in case such a chance could be possible. This is an exciting and expectant time in a search I did not know whether it would ever succeed. I have Adopted.com staff to thank for their generous assistance that has led to this discovery and fulfillment of one part of a long quest. Bravo to the wonderful folks at Adopted.com!

Seeking Brother's biological family
I was able to find my brother's biological mother on Adopted. Though she did not communicate with me, Nikki tried. Nikki has been a Godsend in trying to communicate with her, but unfortunately, it didn't work out. At least I have her name.

My son found me after 55 years
I gave up my baby boy 2/1970, knowing probably I would never know how it all came out. But as a mom, I did decide that, although I could never find him, that perhaps if I was available, if he wanted to, he could find me. I created a profile at adopted.com in 2012 and waited... over the years several people thought we might be a fit, but all were no go. But on Oct 30, 2024, at 9:43am, a notification came from adopted.com that someone matched exactly! and after about 24 hours of back and forth, it became plain that my baby boy had found his mom, ME. I was able to travel to his city in Feb 2025 and celebrate his 55th birthday with him, his wife & son, my newly-found DIL & grandson. Amazingly, my son looks just like me! I never thought I would know about him, and I am grateful for adopted.com and its mechanism that made our reunion possible. My son and I remain in touch and enjoy our growing relationship.

False advertising-Waste of Money
Finally paid the subscription because I was told I had 4 ten out of ten matches. 10/10 means 100 percent matches in my mind, yet when I paid, there were NO matches that were even close, not even the exact birth date I put in. Total waste of money and false advertising.

Just having a forum available makes this a five star review. I didn't pay anything as it was free to use. It took many, many years for me to find my birth mother and many years for her friend to post at the right time. The date she had was wrong, due to fault of her or my mom and it was on the behalf of my mother that she reached out to me. Truly providence. The relationship was confirmed by dna tests. I am grateful for the ability to use this site for free and to have finally met my biological mother at the age of 54! For the first time ever! A true answer to prayer. Thank you so very much.

Mostly scam bull crap
Paid 19.99 for over a year no 10/10 results now that I can't afford it years later start sending me emails to check my matches then shows a 10/10 match. When I click on it wants me to pay 19.99 a month just to look at it.

I have been searching for my birth…daughter
I have been searching for my birth daughter for over 10 years with no luck. A couple days ago I received a message about a possible match. I have to say I was skeptical, but responded anyway. The more we chatted, the more it seemed she might be the one I've been looking for. So glad she reached out. She finally sent me a picture. She & my younger daughter could be twins! No denying my daughter found me.

I joined Adopted.com to find my birth parents. I was adopted out 59 years ago.

Horrible matching system
The algorithm they use for searches/matches is ridiculous. After I signed up and filled in my info I received a couple dozen "matches". My info was quite detailed and specific so I was excited. I eagerly checked my so called matches only to find the matches were nonsense. The system matched me to the wrong province, date, sex and even country!!. It would match me to girls (im a boy) adopted in the wrong country and call it a "strong" match.

Today I was able to locate your profile on Adopted.com as we aren't receiving a reply from the email address you provided. I see that your use of our search tool was in fact many years ago, and that you haven't subscribed at all recently. I think it's likely you were using a different site more recently and have confused it with us, based on what you are describing (terminology that doesn't relate to our service), however I can take this as an opportunity to share some information about how we do matching!
I'll note that in your account with us (in your publicly visible profile) you don't have any close possible matches for your search. We don't use the term of a strong match that you noted in your review, so again I am considering you might be mixing up our service with another company, if you are having a more recent experience than the one you had on our site many years in the past.
The negative review you posted here was on Christmas day, and I did reply to you that same to day to the email address you provided to make sure you didn't have to wait, but I haven't been able to have a reply from you at all.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to explaining how the matches work, since this is the most important thing here!
Our members answer the same 10 questions about their adoption situation (birth parent, family member, or adoptee) and our system checks for matches among our 1.2 million profiles.
Rather than saying 'Yes' or 'No' in response to your querie, we show you the closest possible profiles to yours based on all factors.
This is one of the things that sets our service apart from others, the fact that we provide all of the close profiles for you to make a determination for yourself using a very smart system.
It is extremely common (in our 20 years of experience) that very often there is misinformation on at least one of the 10 factors we match on, on at least one side of the search. This means that if we show you who is close, you can browse through and tag which profiles are a good or poor lead based on your very unique situation. Additionally you can ask questions of the other party(ies) as you progress.

I've been a member for about a year, tho I didn't find my birth family in this site, I have found them. This site was a great way to gather info and know what to do to begin my search, the messages you can share with other members is valuable and informative...the best thing to remember is dont give up...join as many sites as you can, one is surely bound to be the magic one!
