That’s a pretty bad one.
That’s a pretty bad one.
I needed to know the conditions in which I’d have been entitled to a refund for a flight I was eventually able to catch.
Nonsense, their responses took 5 working days on average and they even provided me with the wrong documents to fill up, thinking I was sick overseas.
Speedy responses are a priority in such cases where insurance is purchased to have last-minute protection due to any emergency.
They need to train their staff properly.
Never again.
My mistake - wrong type of Cover
I had taken out travel Insurance for a trip to Oz. On reading the inclusions within the Policy I realised it was not quite suitable for a 71 year old, who had no plans for bunjee jumping, water rafting etc. I phoned to cancel just before trip, and was given a refund without quibble. Very pleasant and efficient advisor.
Very shoddy operation
Very shoddy operation. I put in a claim to recover a car excess in November 2022. After six weeks, called and was told someone would be in touch. Three months later nothing. So I called again. Some really lame stuff looking for a reason why they wouldn't pay the claim. In the end, it went to a 'team leader' and I was told they will pay in the next couple of days. I think Expedia also deserves criticism for using AIG as their excess insurance partner. Be wary if you use Expedia when you are invited to insure against the possibility of an excess charge on car insurance. You won't necessarily get what you pay for. And even if you do, it is quite a chore to get the money out of AIG.
Horryble experience
Horryble experience, I paid 100£ for travel insurance (London to Thailand) and I didn't receive the email with our names. I don't have any email address to send the message. So, new I have to Buy another travel insurance, another money to spend because of them 💵💰💷💶💴😡😠😤
Terrible experience making a claim…
My experience of making a claim on a car hire excess policy has been terrible. The lady I am dealing with (Grace Palomar) keeps asking for more and more information and documents, all of which the car hire company is refusing to provide.
I have provided the car hire contact, the check in report, the invoice from the car hire company, a credit card statement and more besides. From this evidence it is very clear that I have a valid claim, and I have provided everything required as per the Policy Wording. However, the company is being as obstructive as possible in order to avoid paying my claim.
My advice is not to bother, the policy is useless if it doesn't pay out when needed.

Our flight was cancelled coming home from Greece put a claim in never had any reply and then nearly 2 months later received email telling me I needed to get proof.I thought that was what you paid insurance for so that they get all this info but NO if I do not get a letter from EasyJet then they will not pay me
SO IF YOU GET YOUR INSURANCE THROUGH THEM THEY WILL NOT PAY Out
Avoid Avoid Avoid
I recently had a pair of Bose QC35 Headphones stolen by Enterprise Rent A Car I made a claim using AIG Travel Insurance and they will not pay out because they say I haven’t looked after my Headphones what a complete rip off.
Had to buy three airline tickets to…
Had to buy three airline tickets to London as flight was brought forward by three hours two days before departure (we were due to take the train in the morning). AIG took ages to come back to me to tell me it wasn't covered. The insurance wasn't cheap (£444.09).
Please don't bother and read this and other reviews for the same.
Avoid this company at all costs
Avoid this company at all costs. Will do everything in their power to avoid paying out.
Had me waiting for over a month, to use an obscure clause to escape paying out.

I got passed from department to department, had to call different numbers in USA, and finally was given a link to make the claim online. Took ages to fill in all the forms and then the upload function didn't work it just kept giving me an error message. What a waste of time and also £156 including the AIG fee. Useless and criminal exploitation, and foisted on me in the checkout process of Expedia... I should have used HSBC who provide my home cover and are excellent.
Avoid!
Claim started in February and its August now. Still they are using claim adjuster and covid excuses. Asking for documents like proof of no refunds but this document does not exist. Will contact the Financial Ombudsmen soon. Avoid!
Company should be shut down NOT FIT FOR SERVICE
Company should be shut down
They make you jump through hoops with documentation, they will not communication with you by email or respond. Seems like there is only one person manning the desk! This is unacceptable. Shut the AIG down you are not fit for service.
Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking, especially for such a large international company. Over 3 months after my claim and still no response. Keep saying it’s with the adjusters. So I complained and they wrote me a letter saying the claim had already been paid (which of course it has not!). Do they have any idea what they’re doing?
Not acting effectively and worst claim response
Travel insurance took ages to act in the US after the first visit to the doctor.
They advised to do it by myself if required/urgent and then make it a claim - which I did not do as I did not trust it to be refunded.
Effectively, I made a claim of a few items the doctor included in his report - more than 2 months later they have not responded...
No feedback on claims since January!!! It is now June!
I submitted a travel insurance claim in January. It is now the end of June. I have called numerous times to follow-up and was told that an assessor has yet to be assigned to my claim. They said that it should take 45 working days to assign an assessor. I spoke to Dennis on the phone and he said that my 45 working days started in February. Well 45 working days has more than passed and I've yet to have feedback! If there are big delays advise of give a realistic time-frame! We know COVID has caused more claims and delays are going to happen but be honest so I can stop following up!
AIG UK is the worst Insurance company
AIG UK is the worst Insurance company
I had been infected by covid 19 in December 2021, I had to stay in hotel due to that and my flights had to be cancelled.
I have been calling AIG UK office for almost 6 months now and still they say that no eveluator has been assigned yet to my case and I keep hearing the same every time I called up, I dont understand then why do they exist to just waste our time and money. I am really frustrated to the core following up with AIG.
The worst insurance company.
WORST iNSURANCE COMPANY EVER
I cannot believe that I have to put one star when my preference would be to put none. This is the worst insurance company we have ever had the misfortune to be "insured" with. Had to cancel a holiday 6 months ago due to my wife being rushed into hospital to have a heart monitor and then Pacemaker fitted, we have all the paperwork, cut and dried case, still waiting to be paid out. Worst company ever AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID
