Quoted One Price, Then Backed Out – Extremely Poor Customer Service

We purchased a hall pendant light from Ambientco and requested installation, as this is a service they advertise. As part of the process, we provided all the requested information, including confirming that our ceiling height is 18ft, and we even submitted two photos of our hallway and stair area so they could properly assess the installation.

Ambientco then quoted £464 for installation. While we felt this was quite expensive, we assumed the cost reflected the complexity of the job and the likely need for a tower due to the ceiling height. Based on that expectation, we agreed and paid the full amount upfront.

However, when the electricians arrived, they did not bring a tower or the necessary equipment. They immediately refused to install the light, saying they did not have the right equipment for the job.

Ambientco has since told us that it will cost an additional £310 to complete the installation. This is completely unacceptable. We provided the ceiling height and photos before they issued the original quote, so they had all the information needed to assess the job properly.

Their response has been to offer a refund of the £464 and tell us to find our own company to install the light. This is incredibly poor customer service. They quoted a price, took payment, sent electricians who were not prepared for the job, and now expect the inconvenience to fall on the customer.

Because of this experience, I have requested to return the light entirely, as I no longer wish to do business with a company that operates this way. Very disappointing.

When the installation was originally quoted, we based the price on the information provided and our standard installation scope. Unfortunately, once our electricians arrived on site, it became clear that specialist access equipment (such as a tower) would be required to safely complete the installation due to the ceiling height and positioning. As safety is our top priority, the team could not proceed without the correct equipment.

As soon as this was identified, we provided the revised cost required to complete the work safely with the appropriate equipment. However, understanding your frustration, we also offered a full refund of the installation fee so that you would not be out of pocket and would have the flexibility to arrange installation with a contractor of your choice if you preferred.

We truly regret the inconvenience this situation has caused. It was never our intention to leave you feeling unsupported, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention as it helps us review and improve our installation quoting process going forward.

Burnished Harborne Pendants

What a fantastic product, delivery took a little longer than we thought, but you have to expect that when made to order. Boy, were the light fittings worth the wait. We have 3 of the Burnished Harborne Lights above our dining room table, the look incredible. Everyone comments on them.

This company cares nothing about…

This company cares nothing about customer service. I bought several lights from them and one of the shades arrived cracked which was not apparent until I opened the box which was a few weeks after purchase as I was at second fix stage on my new build house. The company was entirely unsympathetic and only quoted their terms and conditions which say that 7 days is their limit for returns. I will not purchase from them again and they have lost a good customer.

We have reviewed your order and can confirm that it was delivered on 26th September 2025, and the damage was first reported to us on 2nd December 2025 - 67 days after delivery. We completely understand how frustrating it must be to discover an issue once work on your home has progressed.

Our returns and damage-reporting policy requires that any damaged or faulty items are reported within 7 days of delivery. Once the 7-day window has passed, we are unfortunately unable to submit a claim or confirm the condition of the item at the time of delivery, which limits the support we can offer. This is why our team referred to the policy when responding to your request.

Very Happy Customers

Liked the look of this made to order light for our low ceilined & we haven't been disappointed. It looks lovely & oozes quality. Delivery was fairly quick & we were kept informed of the orders progress

Kingii pendant lights

I ordered 3 of the Kingii pendant lights to go in my bathroom. The order came when it was stated and was packaged immaculately. I had a problem with one of the glass bulbs which I e-mailed about and the after service was 100% I had a new glass shade within 48 hours. Would definitely use this company again and 100% recommend thank you

The light looks great but we're waiting…

The light looks great but we're waiting for the electrician to install it.
I do think that including the light bulbs would be a good touch. Nowadays you would never receive an item which needed batteries without them being included.

Lovely product, unclear lead times

Lovely product, but at no point in the order process was it made clear of the delivery date. The products we ordered, it turns out, are made to order with a 2-3 week lead time, and shipped directly from the manufacturer.
Best advise is don't book the electrician until you actually have the product!

Such a lovely quality light

Such a lovely quality light. I’d been coveting this light for a long time and we finally bought it when we renovated the kitchen. The light is super quality and it arrived in really good time, manufactured in Ireland. Great communication from this company during the ordering process. A few hitches around delivery

A few hitches around delivery, some due to Ambient error, compounded by a very unhelpful delivery company who tried to deliver without prior notice twice, and again on wrong day. Ambient were very helpful in resolving but it did delay receipt by a week.
Product as described, looks good quality although some glue visible between frame and glass along bottom edge.

I would use the company again with assurances that delivery issues have been ironed out.

Great Customer Service

Nice lights and cheaper than going directly to the manufacturer. One of the lights arrived damaged but this was very quickly rectified.
