Hello Libby,
Hello Libby,
As I was doing my weekly shopping in Asda Canterbury last week, “I thought” it was a good idea to get euros at the same time.
I brought £600 with me, but said to round it off if it made it easier. So for £614,95, he gave me 700 euros. However when I returned home and looked at Asda money on my laptop I was furious saw my £614.95 should have been 718 euros. So to say I felt a little upset would be an understatement. However that said I have been shopping at Asda Canterbury for some 35 years and of course will continue to do so.
Kind regards Mrs Philippa Lynch.

Broke my mobile on holiday in Australia. They wanted proof of purchase of my mobile 5yrs old and wanted a quote from a repair shop of how much it would cost . Why ask for how much it would cost as they only will give £200 per item when the phone will be £400 to fix plus they take £100 excess fee - will never take travel insurance with this company again ! Rubbish .

Lazy staff
Called the asda travel money line. The guy who answeredd the phone sounded like he was from the hood and could not be bothered to be there. I asked a basic question and instead of finding out the answer he transferred me to a different department. Lazy staff.
Fraudulent service
Fraudulent service. Do not use! Money missing from my account. I'm still waiting to get it back. Spent nearly $200 at a shop which the transaction failed. Showed as pending on my account. Refused to refund money. Luckily I had saved the receipt so they refunded that. Another 2 transactions failed and showed as pending until I contacted the company that had failed them and they contacted the card company.
Paid for another transaction and the money has been taken off twice but only one showing. Still waiting for that refund which is currently fraud. Had to pay a deposit for breakages when arriving at the hotel. On departure they refunded. 2 weeks later and I'm still waiting for my money which has vanished into thin air.
DO NOT USE THIS CARD. CAN'T CONTACT THE 0800 NUMBER AS ITS DEAD. When you ring the "from overseas" number you can't get the UK and nothing gets done. Looks like an English person on the emails but you can't email them directly.
Shocking service. When I get my money back I will burn the card and never use it again.

Unfortunately there was NO star option
Unfortunately there was NO star option, was sold this card by the lady who works in the bureau in Asda how great it was no charges she advised. Go for that why should I be charged for using my own money. So signed up our spending money went into the card. Arrived at our destination started using the card 11 days later great holiday. I kept count of what was being spent so knew exactly what I was spending. On the plane bought hubby aftershave so money was well spent now. Ones home week later I received an email from Asda to say the payment for Jet2 was rejected strange I thought. Went into ASDA online app for card opened transaction and low and behold 20 charges this was for each time the card was used. I had previously been advised NO CHARGES raging was an understatement. I had gone back into Asda to change money that I had left. Lady who recommended the card how was the card she asked, I said wouldn’t be using it again due to the charges, again the lady said there are no charges, asked to look at online account and took details of each charge. At that point she said I think they charge in Turkey. She knew I was going to Turkey, as while being talked into taking the card I also bought Lira for tips. Lady apologies said she was unaware that there would be charges, but had heard maybe Turkey do SO FALSE ADVERTISING if you thought Turkey had charges shouldn’t I have been informed as I would have never have taken the card. she asked for my name and contact number someone wld call me, 3 weeks later NO call. I have emailed the customer service X2 NO REPLY. Please do not use this card rip off!!! If I wanted 20 charges I’d have used my own bank card. PLS DO NOT TAKE THIS CARD. I have looked online so many ones that you won’t be charged.

Lovely lady on the phone who was very pleasant and didn't rush us or interrogate us regarding our health issues. By far the most reasonable travel insurance for us but more than that, the whole experience was easy and friendly.
Recommend Asda Travel insurance to all.

CARD REJECTED 3 TIMES, DESPITE HEALTHY BALANCE. NONE EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE
There was problem where my travel money & card wouldn’t be ready till 6th August, despite the email saying it would be ready to pick up Tues, 30th July at 3pm. The guy at Asda Scunthorpe was brilliant, went over and above, and sorted it for me. Spot on. (But I should have smelt a rat!).
The the card was rejected 3 times in France for no apparent reason. Pre-charge amounts were left on the card after it had been rejected. Customer service is virtually impossible to get hold off. I have numerous emails chasing up a promised “call back” and I’m still waiting two weeks after my second attempt for customer service and now I’m back in the UK. You have to go through an automated call service to try and speak to someone in person, which results in them sending you a security “code” text to your phone to progress (why not an email option?), which didn’t arrive. Each time you try to contact them by email, they send an auto response promising they’ll get back to you in 1 to 2 business days and they don’t. (They did once, eventually, when the card was rejected the first time, which I thought was a “one off”, but it subsequently got rejected twice again). DO NOT FALL FOR THE BIG SELL! This was supposed to be user friendly and convenient. It definitely isn’t. I’ve still got a “pending” 150 euro “pre-charge” on it from a French petrol station that accepted the pin, then rejected the card, from the 21st August. I already have a Halifax Mastercard that works perfectly well, so why didn’t this one? I’ve requested my issue be dealt with as a FORMAL COMPLAINT. Still no one has got back to me. Appalling customer service.
Date of experience: 02 August 2024 UPDATE: Finally got a phone call on the 14th Sept after raising a formal complaint, and taking it to the Financial Ombudsman. Got a resolution with a promise that the failings of the service will be rectified.

Sloped off early left me without booked currency
Arrived at 4:49 (Google's time stamp not my estimate) behind a lady customer who was there for seconds as the woman in the booth fobbed her off. I tried to explain that I had prebooked currency to collect, but all my pleas were in vain, the woman in the booth was adamant she could not help me and was closing up now. (Wednesday closing time was 5:00) I even laid out my photo ID, card and phone to show I had everything ready but she wasn't listening, just threw a lot of unmarked old lever arch files on the desk and told me "You can come back in the morning" in a tone as if that was doing me a favour. I had a nine mile round trip the next day, any bonus from using Asda Rewards lost in wasted petrol. Different person the next day, who completed the whole transaction in exactly ten minutes without rushing at all. So the first woman could have helped me. The second person at least did give me my currency but didn't show any hint of a smile or any friendliness at all. Won't ever use Thurmaston location for currency again.
Money disappearing into thin air
Card suddenly declined despite healthy balance. Had to use cash which is hopeless in Sweden as it's mostly cashless. Went to check balance in the app and found:
1. The declined transactions had still been deducted.
2. The sum of all transactions minus the incoming balance is - even with the wrongly deducted, declined transactions included in the sum - short by SEK 1879.40 with no trace or explanation. That's roughly £140 just gone and completely unaccounted for.
I would not recommend ASDA travel money. It's unreliable and apparently they help themselves to your money without explaining why.
