Great Service from Asda Travel Money

Great service from Asda Travel Money, which was ordered and delivered within 2 days by Royal Mail Special Delivery. I was a bit concerned due to the poor reviews on Trustpilot, but they had the best exchange rate for euros at the time. Greatful also for the mix of euro notes. Thank you.

Dishonest and unhelpful

I ordered £400 worth of Mexican Pesos.
They did not arrive, so I emailed them asking for some more information.
They wrongly informed me that the money had been delivered.
After a lot of stress, involving asking neighbors, post office, etc the money finally arrived two days later.
When I asked for the tracking number of my money, they said that they were unable to provide me with one. Which is very untrustworthy.
I understand that mistakes can happen. But their lack of support during the this was very unprofessional, and the fact that they wrongly informed me the parcel was delivered caused me a great deal of emotional distress.
In order to resolve the matter, I would have had to obtain a crime reference number from the police, fill out a long form, and wait up to six weeks for the matter to be resolved.
I will never trust this organization for money matters ever again.
When I return from my holiday, I am going to write a letter of complaint, and am considering filing suit for misrepresentation leading to emotional distress.
Fortunately for me, my parcil did arrive... 48 hours after they confirmed it had been delivered via XP1 signature.

Their general dishonesty and lack of support has caused me a great deal of anguish, and severely tainted my trust in them.

Others might not be as lucky as I was, so please don't risk doing business with Asda Travel. It's just not worth it.

DO NOT BUY THEIR TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY

this is the first time I encountered a shi**y travel insurance. I was on the visa center when I realized my travel insurance policy doesn't have my name and my partner's name written on it . Just the travel dates and that it's for a couple. I called them while i was there, on hold for 20-30mins . Never got hold of anyone. I sent an email, they've been going around the whole topic with different chat representatives answering my concerns. I used to be a chat agent and I know you can see the previous emails so that's a shi**y thing to do. I just went online and bought another policy so i can submit it to the visa center. I am not gonna stress myself over it but i will definitely not come back. Guys, just DON't BUY THEIR TRAVEL INSURANCE!!!

I only asked for them to send me the copy of my policy with our names on it, was that so hard even if I provided my policy number already? 😒

I wouldn't recommend this company to my enemies if I had any.

Worst possible customer service, waiting for a refund for more than 8 months, being thrown from one rep to another.

I just don't understand how they can operate the way that they do. Shameful.

Asda Travel have auto-renewed my policy…

Asda Travel have auto-renewed my policy for the last 2 years without my noticing it on my credit card bill. I have had no email or mail notifying me of the renewal despite their policy stating clearly that they will notify before renewing. Fortunately I have now noticed and cancelled. The first and second renewals were over £200 when the original payment was £90 - so they are clearly doubling it hoping you don't notice for 14 days. Do not use.

Similar to lots of other travellers had paid for annual insurance with Asda, but when I had to claim in March 2020 for cancellation due to Covid was eventually declined despite policy saying clearly.that I was covered. Still waiting resolution to my complaints 6 months later. Now with the Ombudsman which is also a lengthy process due to volume of work.

Travel insurance from ASDA

Would like to give less than 0 stars. Trying to claim for cancellation of ski trip March 2020 (Covid). Very poor communication, awful response times, numerous errors in record keeping resulting in ‘ incorrect’ decision to decline settlement of claim after 9 months. Still awaiting appeal for review and formal complaint high they say will be delayed by up to 12weeks.
Looks like they are deliberately trying to place obstacles in the way to discourage claims.

Nine Months Later Still Waiting

Made a Claim to Asda Travel Insurance due to Covid.Followed there instructions and sent all relevant paperwork to them by Registered Post. They had just closed down due to Covid. They had No Arrangements in place to pick Claims up from offices so four weeks later finding this out I sent Claim by email. Seven weeks after original paperwork sent they opened claim. SEVEN Months later, after being told twice offer of settlement would be sent and third time it was being Prioritized, we are still waiting!. Shameful Company. Please Avoid.

Slow boat to china

My holiday was cancelled due to COVID-19. I was told by Asda that the holiday insurance refund would take 30 days because of my bank. Are they having a laugh. Are they sending the refund by Wells Fargo.

Claims service is a disgrace.. 6 months on and no answer!

my flight back from New Zealand was cancelled when Oz temporarily suspended transit flights ( was going via Sydney) That was on 23rd March 2020. It is now 23rd Sept .. a full 6 months on and I am still awaiting a decision on my claim. To date they have initially failed to log my claim ( admin error so they tell me) , i re sent it immediately ti be told that it would be at least 28 working days before they got to it....then had email saying there was no attachment... spoke to them and they apologised saying yes they can see it now!..Have rung them countless times to be told it would be escalated... and then prioritised....but still to hear from them. I raised a complaint, but 4 weeks letter got letter sayibg sorry cant deal with your complaint inside the 56 day time period!. Still waiting!!.. Having read these reviews it would have been nice to think someone from ASDA would be reviewing negaitive social media content like this... but doesnt look like they care
Avoid at all costs

What a nightmare company

What a nightmare company. They are using Covid as an excuse for the delay in paying out. I had 2 claims, one was because we had to cut short holiday by 3 nights as Givernment advised us to go home. We sent claim in on 26th March. They dont bother answering e mails. They eventually messaged to ask for bank details for the first claim which we have given but not received payment. They then asked us if holiday co had offered us vouchers or if we tried to claim through our credit card! NO that is why you have insurance isnt it. I responded and now have to wait another 45 days for them to reply. Its absurd and they shouldnt be able to get away with it.

Terrible

Have had annual travel insurance with ASDA for a number of years. Luckily not needed to claim until COVID forced cancellation of camper van hire holiday in Scotland. Having failed to obtain a refund from the hire company I submitted claim on March 31st - still ongoing 5 months later. They seem to have a whole load of delaying tactics (I happily accept that the Covid situation will cause delays but 5 months and still ongoing!!!!) and excuses why they shouldn't payout.
Initially had email from Mapfre (this is the insurance company they use - Spanish I think) saying they couldn't read the file formats of the documents that I'd sent. Converted files as requested and returned to Mapfre email address. After several weeks and numerous attempts finally got through on phone to be told that the Mapfre inbox was not monitored so I'd basically have to start from scratch. About 2 months later got Email with a number of queries including a question about the flights (I wasn't claiming for any flights!!!) and a statement that the hire company could not use their terms and conditions not to give me a refund because it contravened some EU directive. I responded to that email including a response from the hire company regarding their terms and conditions. 5 weeks on another email from them, repeating one of the questions from earlier which I'd answered. No mention now of this EU directive so they must have given up on that excuse, but now saying that I shouldn't have submitted a claim in the first place without first attempting to get a section 75 refund from my credit card. Strange that this issue has arisen now - no mention of doing that first on their claim form or in their FAQ's. Just seems to be another delay / attempt to pass the buck.
As other reviewers have said just a pity that there's no option to give something less than 1 star. Needless to say I will not be renewing next year.
