Audiobookstore.com lied and stole.
Audiobookstore.com duped me into buying the wrong item and refused a refund. Instead of buying the book I needed for class, they used the title and cover art to sell me a summary instead of the book I wanted.
I reached out to customer service and showed them how the listing was deceitful but they refused to provide a refund and tried to talk me into buying a subscription. Terrible experience.
UPDATE: Audiobookstore.com continues to lie.
After posting this review audiobookstore.com contacted me and offered a refund ONLY if I removed this review. Quote: "a refund was approved if you remove the Trustpilot review you posted." Their falsely reply claims the offer was unconditional.
Additionally, the link they provided in the review reply they published on 04/05/2023 is not the link I used. I used this link, which as of this time does not currently say 'Summary' at the beginning. It only says it at the very end, and says it INCLUDES a summary, not IS a summary.
Trustpilot apparently permits them to reply with a link - but not me to include one in a review. The correct ending o the link they posted is: the-one-thing-by-gary-keller.aspx

Can't live without it!
I love this app. There's a huge selection of books and the pricing is better than I've found anywhere else. Customer service was great also the one time I had a question. Highly recommend!
Very patient and comprehensive responses
I inquired via email about how to make purchases; and also details about discontinuing membership and still keeping the products I purchased.
Tarah handled my multiple questions with much patience and provided all necessary answers and details.
Also, I appreciate that I was getting responses roughly next business day, which was fine considering our time difference.

A Good Service
I have not experienced any of the issues mentioned by the one-star reviewers. I do not subscribe to a monthly plan but instead buy individual audiobooks, albeit at the full price, as and when I want. On one occasion when I accidentally bought the wrong audiobook, they gave me a credit to use another time. And this issue was resolved very quickly.

Fraudulent charges
Fraudulent charges. I had to file fraud and cancel my bank card after finding multiple monthly charges. Absolutely a scam app. Wish I looked them up first. Also, it's hard to unsubscribe. P.s. if you scroll down to the 5 star review, the name Quinton is the customer service employee. Trying to give themselves a 5 star review. Classic

Buy a book for 1/2 the price…sure only 1st book won’t download then I found out that it is separate files which means that you just can’t listen to the book you have to switch files between chapters UGH! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Misleading advertiement
Misleading advertiement. They claim you can exchange books (implying it is not a hassle like their competition). You can't even find help to exchange on their site typing in "return". You have to cancel the trial to get their attention and then you cant evenly exchange. It is double to get another book. They won't offset it and they tell you your good to go so you will restart the membership and then immediately charge your card for a months dues.
Do not use Audiobookstore. Use Audible (at least they do not mislead about their charges) or use your library or even Amazon if you have to. Do not get suckered in by this company.
In response to their reply. They did not tell me that all the following books were double. They told me they would give me a credit for another book. What I got from them was my book download taken away and charged an additional 7.95. I got a 7.95 credit that is worthless. Their return policy is a scam as well as their advertisement. They hide behind small print and ambiguity and would rather trash their customer over $14.90 then do the right thing. How they will treat you is exactly what they are doing to me. Their response says it all. If you want scammed, mislead, your money and books taken, and mistreated then by all means, sign up with Audiobookstore.

This company has been charging me just…
This company has been charging me just under 8 dollars per month for the last 4 years without my knowledge or consent. On contacting this company via chat, I had to wait over 15minutes for a response from a rude individual called 'Quinn'. He eventually called me on the phone without me giving him my number. I asked to speak with his manager and tried to explain that they should compensate me for at least half of the four years since I have never logged into my alleged account and have never even used their services. He proceeded to talk over me and would not listen and then hung up. They should be sued for fraud!

Subscription I did not ask for ...
this also happend for me, that AudioBookStore Signed me up for a monthly subscription without making clear or explaining, when I clearly do not use the service. Unacceptable and not to be trusted.
It is also imposible to cansel the subscription and my card information. It is not possible from the page.

Bait and Switch
I signed up with Audiobookstore.com because they claimed to have a copy of a book I wanted, and they had it available for immediate download in MP3 format. When I bought the book and tried to download it, I got a message saying I would need customer service assistance in order to download. That took about 18 hours because they don't answer the phone and their e-chat system is always "offline."
They eventually replied to my email telling me they don't offer the MP3 download - and keep in mind I had just purchased it from their site the day before, at which time they certainly would have known they didn't have this service available. But that didn't stop them from selling it to me.
Bait and Switch much?
Update - Six months after this review posted, Audio Book Store contacted Trust Pilot to get my full name and phone number - which I provided - indicating that they might have this review deleted if I refused to provide that information. Here's the exact quote taken from the email I received:
"If you don’t respond, your review may be taken offline."
Wow - so much for the consumers' ability to leave an honest review without fear of reprisals. This says more than I ever could about how this company operates.

1. They got me to sign up by offering books that could be downloaded to the PC to play on another device. (I wanted to be able to listen in my car, from a thumb drive.) The confirmation email they sent when I subscribed to Flex Pass said, "the audiobooks that you purchase are DRM free so *you can listen on any device you choose, including your computer or laptop*."
2. When I tried to download the first audiobook, I got an error message that my account required validation by customer service first. When I inquired about this the next day, instead of validation, I got an email saying "due to technical issues beyond our control, we’re having to discontinue allowing downloading of audiobooks for the time being."
3. That message also said, "You may still download and listen to any audiobook you purchase from our catalog using our FREE iOS and Android apps." That wasn't true either. The first book ostensibly downloaded in the app but really didn't. There was no way to play it, nor any way to delete it and try again.
4. It took additional days to get a final response, which was not an offer to fix the problem in any way but simply a statement that my account was cancelled and my fee would be refunded. (They did not ask whether that was what I wanted, and did not try to rectify the problem with listening in the app.)
5. Their FAQ page specifically says that if I cancelled my account, any books I purchased would remain available in my account. It didn't (But to be fair, that may be because I received a refund.)
6. As of today (a week later) their Web site *still says* the books are available for download as .mp3 files.
AVOID
AVOID - took money from my bank account out of the blue and on a Christmas Eve when they knew it wud not be noticed and after 8 months off the site and will not refund. Havnt used only for 1 book ever. Untrustworthy

Unprofessional
Initial offer for first book is misleading. I took up the offer for a discounted first book and was charged for subsequent months as a subscription. This is not clear when taking up the offer. When I queried the charges customer service response was at first scripted, then unprofessional. A Customer Care Representative, Quinn, accused me of fraud for saying I would pursue the refund through my credit card company and locked my account which had purchased audiobooks on it.
Would not recommend using this product as there are better, more reputable providers who do not use misleading marketing to trick customers.
