DON'T RENT FROM AUTOVIA!!

DON'T RENT FROM AUTOVIA!!! II rented a car and, they did not tell me that the newer cars don't carry spare tires but, it provides a can of " Fix a flat" with a tiny compressor to put air in your tires. I hit a pot hole and got a flat tire just 3 kms from the town my cousin lives. Fix a flat will fix pin size hole, anything bigger you'll need a tow truck. I called Autovia and they sent the tow truck. I asked to be towed to the town I just left to get it repaired. Driver informed me that Autovia denied my request and will have car towed to an authorized repair shop more than 70kms away ! It brought us to this town which the shop tells the driver they can't get to it till morning. Now, I have to pay for a hotel. In the morning, the shop called tells me they are not authorized with Autovia and now, I get towed to Bari which was a couple of hours away! Autovia charged my card for all that towing! I disputed it and Autovia would not settle. I filed claim with the Italian consumer agency which they then contacted Autovia. The agency stated that Autovia gave in and accepted to reimburse me for the towing and advised the consumer agency to get my bank info so that they can wire the funds to me. I provided the info which the agency forwarded to Autovia. It was over a month and still nothing so, I contacted the agency and theysaid will contact Autovia! After 6 weeks, Autovia has not responded and the agency told me that Autovia broke the agreement made and that my only option is to hire a lawyer!

Valitsimme autolle täyden vakuutuksen…

We chose full insurance from the webbsite, but at the counter we needed to pay additional 600 EUR for the same insurance that we already paid for in advance. This company makes their profit by missleading their customers and charging huge amounts of extra surcharges. The car itself was the most cheapest option, but total costs were shockinly expensive.

This company steals money!!

This company steals money!!! 90% of the time you have to pay more, and not just a bit: around 250 euro if you want to change the driver! We saw for 1 hour at Fiumicino, staying in the row what happend. People desperately trying to avoid paying this extra amount of money.

Great service from Roberto & excellent car upgrade!

We picked up our car from Rome Airport. Roberto was super helpful and guided us through the insurance process as I had booked through Booking.com. He even gave us an excellent upgrade which was very appreciated as we had a lot of driving to do over the course of the trip. The drop-off in Bari Airport was also very easy and quick. I will definitely be using Autovia again. Thanks again Roberto!

Autovia refused to pay back 18E for something caused by their incomplete inspection in the vehicle

On 19/8/23, we rented from Autovia, through DiscoverCars (order DC 5744169) a Seat Arona at the Fiumicino airport until 23/8.
On 22/8 and while been on a trip. halfway through the Tuscan fields, the car gave us several times an indication in the driver's panel that machine oil level was too low (see attached image). We had it checked at a gas station and indeed the level was below safety level.

We purchased 1 litre of the appropriate engine oil type and filled the oil tank. We paid the amount of €18 for the oil. Autovia refused to refund the €18.
Please consider that this issue happened because the car had not been checked thoroughly by the company.
If the car was inspected correctly before it was rented to us, the inspector would have seen that the oil level was low.
Thus they rented to us a car with an oil problem and that could cause a major problem for us if we hadn't checked the oil indicator.
That could cause a fire issue in the vehicle.
We expected from the company to consider all these and come back with at least a compensation in refund of what we payed to avoid the problem caused by their inspector's incomplete inspection.

Worst rental company I've ever used

We picked up our car on a Thursday. Ten minutes after leaving the pick up place it says to check the tire pressure. We immediately turn around and go back to the pick up place to get it checked out.

They look at the tires and says they are fine. We leave the pick up place again and drive about an hour to our hotel. Two days later we come out to the car and it has a flat tyre.

We had to - and I kid you not - call the Fiumicino Autovia office 30+ times before someone picked up the phone (there is no queuing system on their phone line apparently). I tell them we shouldn't be responsible for the flat tyre since there was clearly something wrong with the tires when we picked up the car. I'm told to sent an email about this to the complaints department. We're then told to call the emergency service to get someone to come pick up the car and then take a taxi to the Fiumicino airport to come pick up a new car.

That's a bit annoying but okay, we'll do that - luckily we're told by Giorgia/Georgia from the Fiumicino office that we will be refunded for the hour long taxi trip (I have an audio recording of the phone call where she clearly says this).

We get to the airport and get a new car. So far so good. We get a receipt for the 185 euro taxi trip on a text message from the taxi guy and forward that on email to the Fiumicino Autovia offices mail - Simone at the office tells us he will start the refund procedure.

The new car is fine and we return it a week later. After not getting our money for the taxi back we ask again about it when returning the car. The lady at the office tells us to send to the complaints department on email.

Shortly after returning from Italy - on August 21st - we get an email saying we have to pay 244 euros for the tow truck that picked up the car with the flat tyre and we're asked how we want to pay the amount. I let it be know we have no intention of paying for the tow truck because we shouldn't be responsible for the tires. I also say we STILL have not gotten the refund for the taxi.

Ten days later I see that Autovia has charged me the 244 euros on the card I registered for the deposit when we picked up the car. And they still haven't refunded the money for the taxi - even though it has now been four weeks since we made the first of many refund requests.

That was a long story just to say that you should never use this company. They're prices might be low but the customer service is equally bad. They take forever to answer your emails. Yesterday - on September 6th - they replied to an email I sent on August 21st and since followed up on on August 31st and September 2nd. They - or at least the Fiumicino office - are pretty much impossible to get a hold of on the phone. On more than one occasion we had to make 30+ phone calls before they picked up. Since it is an Italian company they are also tough to communicate with if you don't speak Italian since most of the employees are not good at English.

So stay away from Autovia!

2,5 h was the time to collect the car.

2,5 h was the time to collect the car.
They spend 1/2 h for each client.
Returning the car within the opening hours was without a personal to recieve the car, so you didn’t have any confirmation of the condition of the car.
Here 16 days after returning the car, I still haven’t recieved any status.

bad staff

My flight was delayed, I paid the full rent for the car I arrived 5 hours late, and they refused to give me the car and refund. I was forced to pay additional money and get a more expensive car rather not to lose the already-paid amount.

We were given a car with almost empthy fueltank, and ran empthy on the highway. We contacted the office and sent in pictures that prooved the situation as they requested. After that we got no answeres to our e-mails. We delivered the car with full tank according to contract, and got no refund for the gas.

Very long wait line

Only one employee at the service counter (competitors had at least 2) and more than 1.5 hours’ wait line. Car model requested was not even in the company’s car fleet. Tons of paper forms to be filled even if car was pre-booked online via Expedia and all information already provided. Very archaic and long process. Plus, employee blamed all troubles and false representations blamed on Expedia.
