I collected the vehicle at Verona Airport. The rental desk and the vehicle pick-up location are located directly next to the airport, approximately a two-minute walk away.

The registration and vehicle collection process was very quick, and I received the keys almost immediately. During the inspection of the vehicle, I noticed some damages that were not listed in the original documentation. I informed the employee at the rental desk and showed them photographs of the damages I had found. The employee reviewed the photographs and confirmed that, taking the documented damages into account, I could proceed with my journey.

The vehicle was clean both inside and outside. At the time of collection, the mileage was slightly over 12,000 km.

The vehicle return process was also very quick and took approximately five minutes. I parked the vehicle in the designated parking area and showed the employee photographs of the parked vehicle from all sides, confirming its condition at the time of return. As there were no new damages, the employee accepted the vehicle and took the keys from me.

I then proceeded to the airport to catch my flight.

🚨🚨🚨DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE CROOKS! 🚨🚨🚨
Unsafe cars, zero support, €200+ owed to me, and an unauthorised charge 4 months later. Avoid!

Key points:
- Car became dangerous and undriveable on Day 2
- Customer service was useless and obstructive
- Left us stranded and forced us to pay for taxis and fuel
- Took 5 months to refund basic costs
- Then made an unauthorised charge to my credit card months later

I have never experienced such a shocking combination of unsafe vehicles, incompetence, and outright dishonest behaviour from a car hire company.

On the second day of our rental, the car became undriveable and lit up with multiple critical safety failures, including:
- Emergency braking unavailable
- Stability control fault
- Traction control fault
- Hill hold/descent faults
- Lane assist unavailable
This was not a minor inconvenience — the vehicle was clearly unsafe to drive.

Autovia’s response was disgraceful. Customer care was completely unhelpful and spent 5 hours trying to push us to sort recovery ourselves before reluctantly accepting they had to deal with it.

After the tow truck collected the broken car, Autovia then dumped the problem entirely on us. We were instructed to take a taxi at our own expense to the nearest branch over an hour away. No transport was provided, no assistance offered, no apology — just “go there yourself”.

The replacement car was another insult:
- Handed over dirty
- Not even properly fuelled
- We had to pay to refill it immediately

Then came the customer service nightmare. Communication from Autovia was beyond appalling:
- Emails were answered weeks later, if at all
- Many messages were simply ignored
- Some responses were blatant lies
- They repeatedly ignored what had already been clearly explained and documented, forcing us to start over again and again

I only got any resolution through Booking.com
It felt like dealing with a company hoping customers would just give up out of exhaustion.

The financial side was just as unacceptable: it took five months to recover even the taxi cost (over €200), and we had to give up on claiming other expenses entirely.

And the worst part: Autovia charged my credit card FOUR MONTHS after the rental ended with no authorisation, no justification, and no explanation.
This was not an error — it was an unauthorised charge, and I only got my money back by going through my credit card company.

Autovia showed complete disregard for customer safety, basic service, and lawful conduct.
