Great experience renting with Bargain car rentals. Nice almost brand new suv perfect for our needs in Cairns. Best price of all choices for our trip. Pickup and drop-off is just off the airport but they make it easy with a complimentary pickup/dropoff service. You do need to contact them for the pickup. All instructions arrive by email and are clear as day. The only slight negative was the hard sell on the insurance but that is not unusual. If coming from abroad as we did so your homework so you are prepared. We would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I was offered a van Hyundai Staria instead over due for service by 52 days unsafe to drive, it’s disgusting inside and very smelly, front wipers wasn’t clearing the water properly unsafe to drive and back windows aren’t available to open for fresh air, therefore you have to put the AC on all the time, fuel consumption very high
Unpleasant to drive, unsafe for families and not clean inside

The Haval car was very annoying, everytime we started we had to turn off some supposed safety features. The service at the centre was fine

No one at the airport , international, to transport us to your depot. No answer to your phone when we try to find out where you are. Hopeless.

Mentor who greeted us at reception was rude. She tried to directly force us into extended insurance. Explaining that the insurance we purchased with a third party was inapplicable. Thank heavens for a strait laced lady with long blond hair who understood our situation and was pleasant and took over the booking for us. Returning the vehicle was excellent just spoke to the long blond hair lady again.

I was charged for insurance without proper explanation of the additional costs.

Felt very threatened by not taking out their xs insurance ( so we did pay in ths end despite already having a separate xs policy) - almost like we would be blacklisted and charged for some damage they said occurred after we had left after returning the car.
Spoken to in patronising language, threatening behaviour.
Will never use this company again.

We have been accused of putting the tiniest of dents in the car. There was no indication that having 3rd party insurance didn't actually cover us if we didn't take out CDW with your company. And the charge to fix a small dent (which wont get fixed as other dents haven't been fixed). I should only have to pay your excess, not admin fee of $270!! and definitely not 4 days of car hire while the car is assessed when it was still able to be driven and in fact rented out.

The car was good, staff excellent.
Only problem was when we arrived at the airport and rang for the shuttle all we got was an answerphone. Had no idea if anyone was coming (which they did).
They later explained why this was but why weren't we told this in the notes? Easy to fix surely

Could not get through on the call line - it would not recognise the numbers I was pushing on my phone and there was no option just to talk to someone.

Staff at check in were pretty rude (including to other guests) and trying to force people to buy extra insurance even if they already had it.

I would not use them again.
