This was a great way to get introduced…

This was a great way to get introduced to Budapest. One circuit see the places that you want to go back to and can plan future days on that. Can hop on and hop off at scheduled stops, river cruise was nice. Bus was clean well driven, staff was polite and helpful. Reasonable cost.

Good introduction to Budapest

Good and enjoyable bus tour, although the joining spot was not well marked and there was a lot of condensation on the upper deck window. Staff were nice and friendly.

Big bus Budapest

Big busses were great. A few needed their sound checked. Only negative was the little white busses taking people to the castle. Not very helpful and we felt a little pressganged. Liked the music in the bus .

Too long waiting for buses to arrive at bus stops

Too long waiting for buses to arrive at bus stops, no real timetable supposed to be every 15 to 30 mins but found ourselves waiting 45 to 50 mins sometimes in the cold, not many staff at stops to advise you, found other hop on hop off buses seem to be more frequent and more staff around.

It was indeed a good experiene to see…

It was indeed a good experiene to see Budapest with Big Bus Tours. In one side it is best value for the money and staff is mostly very help and polite. Just need to improve the frequesy of the Bus. Now it is every half hour which is longer to wait. Many of the sites which are not in our priority just need 15 to 20 minutes to see so waiting for 30 minutes seems longer.

Informative, but could do better.

We went on a 2 day Big Bus Tour. All went well, although we felt that the commentaries left something to be desired with little information being supplied about buildings that we passed and lots of general information about Hungary. There is a seemingly useless loop around the New York palace building (and again, no relevant commentary). Lots of pauses between speeches with music. We DID like the walking tour, which was very informative. We opted to go on the Citadel excursion, but were surprised to be charged 3000 HUF each for the experience, which was subcontracted to a separate company. Admittedly, it does say in the leaflet that this is chargeable. TIP, Bus route 27 (or 28) goes there and is included in the Public Transport network therefore you would get this for (almost) free.

Very good price-quality ratio

Very good price-quality ratio. We had deluxe tickets Budapest and was very satisfied. But there was one bad thing - a mistake in the booklet. It's was written that walk-tour started at stop number 16 but actually it started at stop 19. Because of this mistake we could miss the walk tour. Fix this please, it's not nice.

Not as 'hop on, hop off' as you'd think.

To be honest, it wasn't as good as we hoped. 'Hop on, hop off' sounds great, but in fact we spent a LOT of time standing at bus stops. Also, there were a couple of misunderstandings, we were not told the last bus from Heroes Square is at 4:30, even though we asked the driver where we get the bus back, when we got off (it was about 3:45). Also, we were NOT told that you have to do the Citadel on the same day as the Castle. Why?
I couldn't recommend you, as I'd say it would be best to pay for things as you went along.

Value for money way to see the city.

The Bus Tour and River Cruise were good considering the time of year (January) and the cold & wet weather. As we had booked before going, which is easy and saves some money, we did not engage with any of the Big Bus team apart from the drivers. No ticket checks were done and little interaction with any other guides. Not necessarily a major negative, but some interaction and presence would have been good. The tour information on the bus is using pre-recorded information, not a live tour guide. Information ok/minimal. It pointed out that the House of Terror was accessible from a particular stop, so we got off to go and visit this museum only to find it was closed from 8th - 22nd Jan!
Being winter there was 1 bus every 30 minutes - other companies seemed to have more busses doing more tours. This was plenty for us though.
