Not up to the Big Bus & competitive Hop-On-Hop-Off standards we have encountered elsewhere!

We have used Big Bus in many parts of the world,.including numerous cities in Europe, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, & Oman, and have used other Hop-On-Hop-Off services in places as far afield as Singapore and Brisbane ... but we found the Hong Kong experience less satisfactory than all of these. The Green Line in particular really disappointed us - the bus was very noisy and uncomfortable and the sound system so poor - both the equipment, and as far as we were able to hear it, the content - it fell very far below our expectations. The Blue Line experience was better - a more recent, more comfortable bus, somewhat clearer sound, and for at least part of the route the comments were helpful and informative, but overall there is so much more that we would like to have been told about the buildings and sites we were passing, about the history, politics and economy of the place, rather than almost continuous and monotonous music interspersed by the occasional rather banale comments. In addition we, and several other customers were very frustrated by an exceptionally long wait at the ICC (Sky 100) stop for a buis that did not arfrive on schedule

A good way to get an overview of Hong Kong

The itinerary works and it is a great way to see Hong Kong. However, communication and directions were poor, making getting around difficult. The drivers were not able to even point me in the right direction when getting off the bus, and finding the stop in Kowloon after getting off the Star Ferry was not easy.

There could be a little more cultural…

There could be a little more cultural info/background information during death moments. The spaces between commentary where long. So longue moments with only music, over en over again the same music...
They also didn't warn us that a outlook point (Sky 100) was booked for a private event en not open to the public. We had the tickets but couldn't use them.

Wait times for the buses are very long

Wait times for the buses are very long, 30 to 45 min. It looks like a great service on the website, but you are not able to visit all stops due to the wait times. I’d suggest to take public transportation instead to move around Hong Kong. It’s cheap, fast and easy.

FORGET HONG KONG

Of all the big bus tours I've done, Hong Kong has been the least enjoyed. The ticket checkers at their number 1 stop were abrupt and unwelcoming. We stopped there for the best part of 30 minutes which ate into valuable time. The traffic in Hong Kong is very slow and after doing the blue route after lunch and NOT getting off I had no time to do any other routes. It was expensive for the amount of time you could actually "site see".

Great way to sightsee in Hong Kong.

We ordered the deluxe 2 day ticket online and found it to be ideal for our two days sightseeing in Hong Kong. It covered Star Ferry crossings, harbour tour, sampan ride at Aberdeen and return Victotia Peak tram
Only reservation was the ridiculous speed of an early red tour by a boorish driver who made it pretty impossible to view sights mentioned in the commentary. As Other reviewers have mentioned it is difficult to find en route stops unless you are returning to one you have previously alighted at. The presence nearby of big bus staff often overcame the problem, but not always. Staff were mostly helpful especially at the Victoria Peak tram.

Absolutely horrible

Absolutely horrible. They have three lines with only one bus running. We got off the bus three times and has to wait 40 min, 50 mins and 1.5 hrs. Another lady waiting with us had waited 2 hrs and than got a cab. The 1.5 he wait I was told there was an accident. Really than why is I saw 30 buses go by in 1.5 hrs. I have take many hop on and off buses in other Countries never experienced this before. My advice book with another company.

Pick up points are not prominent of highlighter properly ( example- 100 storey building- one hour search could not find it, later I had to take taxi). Only ferry peer 7 you can find somebody. There also for harbour tour(actually of 30-40 min), no body to guide you at entry point , no signage or information. Your guide at peer 7 were co operative but irritate soon with english language. I purchase deluxe ticket, did not have night tour, as big bus services closes by 7PM in much day light. Buses are very good, absolutely clean, AC was super, Commentary Fabulous, all routes are excellently selected. Yes, I have enjoyed!!!!

It was a very good tour

It was a very good tour, but it was hard to find the re-boarding points when you did the hop on hop off to see the sites. But over all enjoyable and I will use Big Bus in other cities

Bus stops

It would help if you had dedicated and obvious Big Bus bus stops . This would help us to know where to get the bus from . Other than that a great way to see Hong Kong with very helpful staff at Central .

Hong Kong

Hi
We had done the New York City tour last year which was great which is why we booked Hong Kong but the Hong Kong tour was poor. Tour audio was prerecorded but it was the lack of commentary that is is a very big let down - the bus would drive past many monuments/sites of interest but most of the audio was a 1980s electric guitar solo. Also we were told to get off bus to ride in a small boat (part of the ticket) but no one said if we were to do thiswe were going to miss the last bus so we had to taxi back to town.

Good points:

Good points:
Buses on time
Extensive coverage
Some good commentary in english
The mobile app is good

Bad points:
Some of the Bus drivers rude
No clearly demarcated signs at many of the numbered points
Not enough information on the Night tour on the website - mostly spent time in traffic and it was not clear we would not see the light show at the harbour
Did not respond to an email query - turnaround time is slow
The map should indicate at which points there are big bus representatives in case u dont start at the beginning of the route
