Failed BooksPlusBeer Order

I placed an order with Books Plus Beer in June 2022 as a gift for a friend and nothing has been received, and no emails have been replied to - as per the experience of so many other reviewers here. I went back to them as had previously used them for another friend in 2021 and my friend was very happy with the gift, but clearly something has gone very wrong between then and now. The lack of communication to customers is appalling and I will also be having our credit card company look into this as clearly, neither the product nor a refund will be forthcoming from BooksplusBeer.

Books + Beer is to be avoided

Do not purchase from this company, a complete scam.
A recent search shows it’s website is no longer active.
Exceptionally disappointing.

Took my money and never sent a single…

Took my money and never sent a single box. Just checked and gov website says the company has been dissolved. Is there anyway of getting the money back since it’s clear they never intended on sending the product??

Will my order ever arrive?

Bought a rolling subscription as a gift and the books and beer are nowhere to be found. My order is stuck on “processing”, I don’t receive replies to my emails, and I can’t obtain a refund. I did find it very odd that the website and accompanying social media hadn’t been updated since June, but I had previously purchased a 6-month subscription which arrived without issues so I ignored that alarm bell. Do not spend your money on this company as they don’t seem to be operating anymore!

Edit: Both the Books Plus Beer website and the Ampersand and Co (creators of Books Plus Beer) website have shutdown. It would appear we’re not getting our order or money.

Not a reliable company

Not a reliable company. If anything goes wrong they do not want to know. If you try to use their support site they do not have the. Courtesy to reply. I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt over the past 2 years but no more. Avoid!

If not outright fraud then as near as makes no difference

I ordered a three month subscription for a friend two months ago. I chased due to non-delivery a few weeks later and was advised that it would go out soon, having missed the last billing cycle. A month went by after THAT stated delivery date and I chased again. No reply after two weeks, so I chased again. No reply. They have no customer care telephone number, so I called the one on my Monzo payment reference. They screened my call, and texted me to ask what I wanted. When I said I wanted either my order or a refund, they ignored my text. I emailed again demanding a refund, and they ignored it. Monzo have now refunded my money, but I want to warn others that either this is not a properly functioning company and they cannot handle their orders - and are too cowardly to keep in touch with customers to explain this - or else it's simply a old fashioned fraud. Either way, don't give them your money.

Great idea but ZERO customer service

Great idea. Terrible customer service
Received a 12 month subscription as a gift - to date I have received 9 books and 3 of them have only been after constant chasing. They have ignored our emails for the last 3 months They have no desire to help at all
Abd there is no way of checking if the item has been dispatched or not
Totally disappointed and feel my daughter was ripped off

Frustrated and Annoyed

Like all the other reviewers I ordered a 3 month subscription as a gift and to date no delivery and no response to emails.
My daughter used them last year and we did receive the books and beers, I also used Reposed last year without any problems.
Incredibly disappointing , and they have my money!!!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS…

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COMPANY. I bought a three month subscription in May, and have not received anything. Emails do not get a reply and there’s no phone number. I reckon it’s a scam. I’ve also tried to get a response from the book subscription company I heard about them from, Reposed, but they’re ignoring emails too. Avoid anything to do with either of them.

Absolutely shocking service

Really wish I read the reviews before giving these guys my money. Purchased a subscription back in May and waited several weeks for my order to arrive. It was a long weekend so gave them the benefit of doubt that the post is a little backed up however it still never arrived.
Sent them multiple emails to which they replied saying a replacement box had been sent which again I never received

In June, another order was placed (only because I forgot to cancel my subscription), this order still hasn’t arrived despite it being now two and a half weeks

I’ve sent another email demanding a refund to which they haven’t responded but I’m not expecting anything from them now. Looks like I’m going to have to accept that I’ve lost a few quid

I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased my friend a subscription for his birthday. I purchased in mid June and my friend has not received any books yet. I have emailed a few times and received no response. I think this company is a scam and you should avoid at all costs. I have raised a dispute with AMEX who are now investigating.

Don't use them

Pretty gutted I didn't see these reviews first. I placed an order in May 2022 and was told it would arrive at the end of the month. Mid-June still nothing. I emailed them and was told it was just a bit delayed due to the jubilee bank holiday. Still nothing by July and now they are not responding to my emails. Avoid at all costs.

Sadly, like many others I failed to read the reviews and have no item or even correspondence from this company.

After many requests I am afraid to say I think the company have taken money with no intention of posting it out.

I would avoid using this company. Don’t be fooled by the reputable looking website.

AVOID THIS COMPANY!

WOW! Oh how I wish I'd read these before ordering. I ordered a fathers day box on the 12th June, had a brilliant email thread with someone from support about the order who couldn't be more helpful. I never received said order and am still waiting now! I contacted them and was told that I needed to wait until the 25th June (7 working days) which is when they could then deem it lost by Royal Mail, I then contacted books & beer and have sent them probably 6 emails, all of which have been ignored, they have my money and I have no item!! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! utterly disgusting that they are even still trading by treating customers like this, they are robbing people!

I’d give zero if I could

I’d give zero if I could. Like the person below, paid for a sub early May for a birthday present. No sign of anything. One reply to many emails that said it was due to the double bank holiday. No indication of what has been sent out (like other subs services) and now just completely ignoring me. Avoid
