This is a scam and boots should be ashamed.
Has anyone else apart from Jez found the magic formula for putting in the bar code. I tried following Jez but all the possible reference numbers I could use did not work, I hoped someone would be able to better explain ?
As a review this is a scandle and Boots should be ashamed to put their name to this product. I look forward to to explaining to Gov.uk what happened here.
Impossible to scan the barcode on the…
Impossible to scan the barcode on the tube, and therefore impossible to upload the results before mailing in. Other reviews said to scan the QR code, but there was NO QR code in the pack for the Day 2 test that I received. It wasted a lot of my time. I tried calling the number on the instruction leaflet and was on hold for so long I gave up. I tried calling the local Boots store - that was no help at all! Eventually went elsewhere and paid again for something that works! I think we should get our money back for the test, never-mind damages for the wasted time, anxiety in doing this and having to pay someone else as well. Really poor show, Boots.Recova.
Terrible on every level.
After doing battle with their very glitchy website the test arrived arrived with broken buffer solution tube. Boots phone line practically impossible to get through to. Eventually got through to an operator who couldn’t. care less just said shouldn’t be going out and refused to do anything, didn’t try on any level try to be helpful.
Also the instructions ask you to scan the barcode k. The tube. There is no barcode on the tube but there is a QR code on the test strip this I what they mean.
UPDATE. one of our party tested negative with boots test went to bed woke up symptomic and ha now tested positive. Can’t see any other explanation than a faulty test
Sued Boots - and won!
Following my previous post Sept 23rd re the non-arrival of our Day 2 Test that cost us £68, of course we chased Boots but as others have said they sheltered behind their T & C "not responsible etc" So we sued them via Money Claims On Line the excellent government legal service. Cost us £35 which is added to the claim. Boots have now paid us £103 - without admitting liability! So everyone else who has lost out SUE THEM.
Home Day 2 Lateral Flow tests
Ordered and used the Day 2 'at home' Lateral Flow test after recent holiday at half term. Results confirmed in good time, but the incorrect references in the instructions of how to register the sample made it an absolute nightmare. Just to reiterate other posts, when asked for the Barcode on the sample tube it really means the QR code on the test itself. Make sure entered as capitals. Mine started COV0070077HUGHESAC then the reference number. Come on Boots! It's hard enough navigating these extra requirements as it is. Just get the guidance updated to stop the confusion.
shambolic and time wasting
I submitted my application and stated clearly my arrival date in the UK but Boots decided to use the date of my application as my arrival date which meant that I was arriving in the UK 10 days before my flight date. I wrote to customer services to point out this error but now that I have taken the test it is showing my arrival date as 11 days before my arrival flight and test - I just give up - I have my flight tickets and photos of the negative lateral flow test which I have uploaded to Boots website. When registering the test they ask for the bar code on the test but it is a QR code on the test that they mean but again people who don't appear to understand the difference.
poorly labelled
poorly labelled, overly complicated.
We are asked to find a barcode on a tube, as advised, but there is no barcode there.
Also, the qr code is impossible to photograph from my phone.
Look Elsewhere and save time and stress
Like many other people on here, we have just experienced really dreadful shoddy service from boots.recova19. We spent quite a lot of time uploading various pieces of information to their site. Gave details of payment etc and then we were rewarded with a link to book our tests. The link did not work, so like many others sat for two hours waiting for customer services to answer, nobody did and then just hung up on us. Subsequently I have sent an email to complain to boots and they have not even afforded me the courtesy of a reply. I have managed to get another company to do our test etc. Luckily for me this is a time of year when I would be making several purchases from Boots as christmas presents so have chosen to spend my hard earned cash elsewhere. I wonder what the elders who set the original boots up in Nottingham think of the awful service they now provide.

My wife and I sent off our tests on 28 October. Hers came back the next day, and was negative; I am still waiting for mine a week later. It just seems a waste of time and money
Paid in Full - No Delivery
Paid for 2 x Day 2 Lateral Flow test which did not arrive. After 3 calls each of which I waited 40 minutes before the line abruptly went dead I finally spoke to customer service. When I asked for a refund they put me on hold and then hung up. It is NOT just the passenger locator number one needs to fulfil the contract it is to also deliver a product. I would suggest anyone uses alternative sources. This is a scam site.
I do not recommend.
I do not recommend. Beyond ordering and receiving test which was easy and quick the QR code to post test results is useless. Test done, negative and nowhere to send picture. Ridiculous. Waste of time requesting day 2 tests if it cannot be done properly.
Wrong instructions/failing QR scanning
The actual upload of the test result doesn't work if you follow the instructions. You're supposed to scan the code on the test strip via the scan function provided at the ReCoVa-19 portal. Tried all the phones in the family but to no avail. With help from other frustrated customers I managed to scan the code separately and paste/type it in. All the steps up until the actual upload of the test result went really well but it all failed on the finishing line.
Instructions are referring to the QR…
Instructions are referring to the QR code on the tube rather than a non-existent barcode on the sample tube.
Terrible website.
Legalized theft. No contact details
On the Friday before I left for the UK last month, I followed the instructions on the Gov.uk website for testing when travelling to the UK. This meant staying in isolation until getting covid tested on day 2 (Tuesday). I was told I could order the tests from Boots, which I did on that Friday. It cost over 80 pounds for four tests but the tests hadn't arrive by the Tuesday. I then received e-mails from the local authority asking me to upload the results of the tests in order to leave isolation. As I had not received the tests from Boots, we could not leave where we were staying. We had to try to get food delivered but there were no delivery slots free.
I tried to get in touch with the Boots recova people but there is no e-mail address and no contact number for this firm. The confirmation e-mail they sent when I paid them for the tests was " noreply@...." so it was useless.
They took my money and didn't deliver what we paid for. There is no way of asking them. I decided to get out of the UK on the Friday without even being allowed to leave isolation. The local authority suggested I could order more tests from somewhere else. It seems like a massive scam to extract money from visitors.
This is compulsory robbery. All I can find about them online is that one of the directors doesn't believe in Lateral Flow tests. Why sell them then?
The kit arrived quickly so well done…
The kit arrived quickly so well done Boots but thats as far as the praise goes. For anyone else using this kit ignore the instructions as there is no bar code on any tube. the so called bar code you are after is on the test kit itself, my wife and i found this out by frustrating trial and error. If you take the test and a picture on your phone, we found that the picture withe test result and code uploaded easier.
OMG Kill me now
OMG Kill me now. Words cannot express how frustrating this service is. Now funnily enough the phone lines are really busy. Come on Boots! perhaps just stick to selling products, instead of services?
Don't bother.
Ordered a Day 2 Lateral Flow test which arrived quickly, but that's all the good that can be said about this service. I took my test and, following the instructions, went to scan the barcode on the test tube... Only the barcode doesn't actually exist! Apparently it wants the QR code on the plastic strip, but I didn't know that because it turns out submitting the code simply doesn't work on Firefox for Android and I received an error message for everything I scanned. I was finally able to submit the results using Chrome having read other reviews here... Of course it is still the case that calling Boots is an utter waste of time as nobody ever answers the damn phone! I was on hold for 45 minutes before they cut me off and that wasn't the first time I tried to call. Don't waste your time.
Very bad communications
We chose Boots for our Day 2 travel test because of Boots's supposed good reputation. UPS were supposed to deliver it on day 2 and failed to (NOT the fault of Boots - eventually appeared on day 9). Why I score Boots so low is that they make it nigh on impossible to communicate with them. Phone call? Forget it, nothing is answered. E-mail? Forget it, no answer forthcoming.
My wife & I are both 72 & not stupid
My wife & I are both 72 & not stupid ! But I dread to think how MANY older people would cope trying to fathom out how to "successfully" use this kit. I totally agree with the other reviews this test is NOT fit for purpose. Even my daughter was baffled by it & took all her academic tenacity to eventually achieve a result.
Keep away from this test
Appalling… Wasted a couple of hours…
Appalling… Wasted a couple of hours trying to work out how to upload test results only to discover the website does not work with Safari which no one at Boots or recova-19 seems to know. DO NOT USE!
