Last week I did the three day flower painting course and loved it. I am a complete beginner so was a little apprehensive but Emma is such a good teacher and so encouraging I quickly relaxed and learnt a lot. The setting is just perfect. We were extremely well catered for by lovely Fiona, missing those lunches this week! I'm looking forward to my follow up day when I'll hopefully finish my painting. Can totally recommend this course. I had the best time ever, it was the first painting holiday I’ve been on and I want to go again. Emma and Mike did a great job organising it, it was just perfect!! Hotel was lovely, food delicious and I made some lovely friends. I highly recommend it.

I have just returned from a 5 day art retreat in Provence and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would not hesitate in recommending to others.
Emma & Mike’s tuition & hospitality went above and beyond the visits to museums towns & villages were very well organised
ensuring that everyone’s needs were met.
The other highlight would be the excellent food and drink every day was a truly delicious 5 star experience.
I also enjoyed making some wonderfull new friends & am looking forward to seeing them again soon on another retreat.

I have just finished the three day flower painting course - it was amazing. Emma is both an extremely talented artist and teacher. She is so knowledgable, enthusiastic and patient. I learnt so much and was delighted to have my completed painting framed by Emma to take home at the end of the course.
We were looked after so well by Fiona who cooked delicious cakes and lunches for us all - would highly recommend any of the courses on offer.

Emma's teaching is done with so much humility and humour. She is a very talented teacher and artist. There is so much excellent learning and all provided with great hospitality.

This 3 day flower painting course was a birthday present from my husband - and what a wonderful present it was! Emma is such a lovely teacher. She’s patient, fun and totally inspirational.
I learnt so much!
The barn is a joy to work in and to top it all, we were served the most delicious lunches every day in her beautiful garden!

I have just completed the three day watercolour flower painting course. Emma is a wonderful encouraging and supportive teacher and I have come away inspired to do more painting. We were given delicious lunch each day and wonderful cake with our morning drinks. I highly recommend booking a course with Emma, you will have a fabulous time.

What an absolutely wonderful day we had with Emma & Mike who recently helped me celebrate my 60th birthday with a group of friends at their beautiful home. I so enjoyed the 3 day flower painting course with Emma a couple of years ago that I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday! Emma taught us to paint flowers in watercolours & make them into fabulous cards. Even if you have no experience at all in art, Emma is so warm & encouraging you can’t help but relax! We all came away with beautiful creations. But, in addition to this she also cooked the most delicious lunch with Prosecco & made me a gorgeous birthday cake! Seriously, words are inadequate to describe what a memorable day we all had ❤️

I would highly recommend this as a way to celebrate your birthday, or just do it anyway! It is utterly delightful & so therapeutic. I will definitely be booking another course with Emma.

I have just been on a follow-up day on Landscape Painting with Michael Cruickshank. It was a delightful day and everyone enjoyed it. I have learnt so much at Bradness Gallery.

Such a positive experience. I took the 2-day abstract painting course, which was well-structured, informative and great fun. Emma is an excellent teacher - very supportive and encouraging. My confidence has increased and I’ve booked myself on another 2-day abstract painting course with a friend.

have done several courses at Bradness Gallery and each one has been an absolute delight. Emma and Mike are not only extremely knowledgeable and helpful, they are also the nicest, most welcoming, friendly people you could wish to leet. Their teaching is supportive and encouraging and their hospitality absolutely top-notch. I have learned so much on my days there and fully intend to do more courses with them.

Emma recommended that I take this course in preparation for the 2-day abstract painting course I had already booked. I was apprehensive about another commitment but wanted to get the most from the abstract course; however, Emma was very reassuring and the online course can be followed in stages, as much or as little as you wish in session - and, of course, you can so easily repeat all or part of any section, which is an invaluable feature. Once enrolled I found the course content an absolute revelation: packed with information and knowledge new to me but all shared in a gradual and accessible way and clearly explained. Emma also assures you that key points will recur in later sections so you don't need to absorb everything at once. Each stage is covered in a variety of ways, including video with voiceover, text, photos of paintings, quotations and articles and when Emma tells you about mixing different colours, she demonstrates these as you watch and encourages you to acquire your own materials to try for yourself. The course content is as wide-ranging as the teaching methods: not only tutorials but sections on student support, materials, equipment etc and Emma is very responsive should you need further advice or help. Above all it feels exactly like what it is: a unique course devised from personal experience, knowledge and skills by someone keen to share these in an engaging and enjoyable way. I absolutely love the course and the sense of excitement and enthusiam it inspires.

The whole two day abstract painting course was delightful. Emma is such a great host and teacher. She is very friendly, encouraging and relaxed.
The setting in her lovely house overlooking the garden and the wonderful food was an added bonus.
The gallery was another inspiration. Highly recommended whatever your standard.

A very relaxing but extremely focussed 3 day lampshade making/painting course. Emma is an excellent, inspirational teacher. She guides constructively, inspiring confidence with colour and technique with wonderful outcomes.

This is a very nice place to visit and see Michael and Emma's paintings (and lampshades). Sit in the garden and enjoy a coffee and cake!

I have attended 3 courses now, two with Emma and one with Mike. I have thoroughly enjoyed each of them and learnt a lot. They are good fun, too and I, and others, were well looked after - the food was excellent too. I hope to join another one soon!

I have taken some courses with Emma and found them to be invaluable. She is such an extremely kind, patient, encouraging and knowledgeable teacher. I have always left feeling much more confident after a day of learning in an atmosphere of warmth and fun (also enjoying delicious food in wonderful surroundings). My day there is an absolute treat! Emma and Mike are both professional artists and you can visit their gallery on site.
I cannot recommend more highly taking a course or popping in to visit their gallery.
