Scam phone call asking for my bank details
Scam phone call asking for my bank details so as to refund me on an overpaid mortgage. I told them I dont give out my bank details over the phone to someone I dont know. I told them to write to me and we can go from there. I bet I never get that letter.
Don't pay too much heed to negative reviews
I was contacted back in April to say I was due a tax rebate on my original PPI claim but it would take a couple of months given HMRC's backlog. I then heard from HMRC confirming my refund in August and have today received payment (less agreed costs) from Canary Claims. Yes it is taking a while but that's because there are so many claims. Be patient.
AVOID THEM!!!!!
AVOID THEM!!!!!. HMRC sent my cheque to Canary Refunds in June this year (2023). Now I can't even get a reply from them as to why nobody has forwarded my portion of this minus their fees. It doesnt matter how many times you email with copies of the HMRC letter nobody ever replies. Terrible service and business. I think this is scam so let this be a warning to you all. If they email you out of the blue about a tax refund for a previous loan / PPI claim my suggestion would be to block the email and never reply. Waste of time and shows the way the country is going as a whole. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!.
Overpaid on PPI interest
Notified by HMRC I overpaid tax on PPI interest 2018/19 and a cheque was being sent to these guys. I’ve heard nothing from them despite several emails now so can only assume they are hanging on to the money thus scamming me. As a pensioner this money would have been useful - learned my lesson, please don’t use them. No phone numbers showing just an email, Disgusting!
Strange call and hung up on me
Had a call from canary claims telling me I was owed money from a previous mortgage. They couldn't give me any details regarding this and told me it was a verification call, they wouldn't give any information regarding what it was about then they hang up on me.
When I explained I was nervous about giving information , he was dismissive - I would avoid
Avoid at all costs…
Used sister company for my PPI claims years back.
Had an email stating I have had a return on my PPI tax.
Company asking for bank details and identification on an unsecured sever.
Unwilling to do this I have emailed in several occasions to ask for payment via cheque.
No reply whatsoever, starting small claims case this weekend to recover the full amount including their fees.
Avoid at all costs, Reading other reviews seems to be a scam.
UPDATE:
Took them to a small claims court they paid including fee + interest, retrieved full amount on claim.
Search Canary refunds on companies house for address.
Keep all emails and letters, send them a final chance to pay before court action letter by recorded post before submitting claim.
I received a letter off HMRC saying I…
I received a letter off HMRC saying I was owed money and the cheque was sent to Canary Refunds. I have pursued this since August last year and been in contact with HMRC it is out of their hands, then tried Financial Ombudsman they said there is nothing they can do. I have since had another rebate and have successfully had that. I have now been and seen a solicitor and we have issued an e mail and letter as nobody wants to reply where my money is so in another week I am taking them to a claims court they have had their chances and with all of my evidence we will see if they actually reply this time.please be aware stay away...... no more needs to be said!!

I was contacted by cannery claims regarding tax refund on my ppi..
As a old age pensioner I thought ok why not a little extra money will help…
I went ahead with it..
I had a message from HMRC to say they sent a cheque to Canary claims..
I was delighted that I would receive some money… I haven’t heard anything and it’s been a while. I’ve emailed them twice and tried to call them but the number just beeps… I now think that after reading all these reviews I feel that I may have lost my money.. is this company still trading… I think it’s a disgrace that Canary Claims can cheat a pensioner out of money.. I’m not sure what to do now…
Or who can help..
Had a phonecall 10.57am 12th April
Had a phonecall 10.57am 12th April. 01618187386. Person had a foreign accent. Said had £2000 from a loan I had with Nationwide. I gave them sort code but refused to give account number and suggested they send me a cheque but apparently they do not use cheques anymore. Also company is in London so why Manchester phone number? Suspect a scam but obviously denied this so I told them to ring back another time and I would check them out.
Canary claims PPI Tax
Canary contacted myself about claiming tax back on a previous PPI claim. Once notification received from HMRC that a cheque had been paid. Then once filled out Canary claims payment process. Have had no payment. Complained to HMRC and say as far as they concerned money paid. Financial ombudsman can't do anything "As the business/complaint a week relates to a tax claim which is not FCA regulated, we’re unable to consider this complaint for you.". So basically no money and no comeback from Canary claims.

This company received my refund from the tax office but still hasn't paid it to me nearly a year later, they have ignored my last email,so presume they are running a scam
I cannot contact them and they are…
I cannot contact them and they are holding a tax refund of £388.47. The 08006348668 doesn’t work. Despicable behaviour.
Utter scam! Avoid!
Utter scam! Avoid! I applied for tax back from PPI 11 months ago.
They ignore any attempts to contact them, even when Facebook messenger says they've been read.
I suspect they've had money paid to them and haven't let on but impossible to check as they just ignore you.

I have been contacted about a PPI
I have been contacted about a PPI. They wanted my account and sort code to send me a refund I don’t even remember applying for. I was told that the supervisor would call within the hour. He did and told me I had £2900 refund and £250. He was going to deliver the cheque but I would have to pay £250 cash. I said no way was I giving someone cash for a cheque. He then told me he would come tomorrow with cash for me. Surely this isn’t the way you work is it. I have informed the police in case anything occurs. This has been very unsettling

Non existent communication!
I used Canary Claims for PPI a while back and found them pretty good, on the whole.
However, this time around I've had a very different experience. As with someone else on here, I received an email from HM Revenue saying Canary Claims had been sent money from them on my behalf and to contact them. I've emailed and chased on 5 occasions but haven't had any response whatsoever. The last email was to their complaints department (different email address). I immediately received a delivery failure message stating I'd got the address wrong. It was copy and pasted from their site!
This is no way to run a business, if indeed they are still trading!??
I'll be contacting the Financial Ombudsman next.

It very annoying . There is no phone number .
I have no doubt canary claims are…
I have no doubt canary claims are trustworthy but there are fraudsters using their name be carefull if they ask for money upfront or mention ministry of justice despicable people not fit to walk the planet
For the little they do
For the little they do, they get handsomely paid. Due to ill health (possibly COVid19), I did not respond to their communication or anyone else's. They also addressed there post incorrectly. They are a bullying bunch and I recommend they should not be used.
