Look elsewhere, these are a joke

Bought my partner a platinum eternity ring, circa £2k, she only wore it for Saturday nights out, which , as we are in our 69s is usually a meal, after 10 months, stone lost, replaced as no damage.
Fast forward another 12 months, same problem, returned to store, after a 3 week inspection, “ring has been banged, the metal is damaged and the diamond (which was rescued from a hotel bed, was reported chipped! £300 repair cost!!!!
It’s worn for 4 hours on a Saturday evening
ITS PLATINUM, if it was damaged to that extent, she’d have broken a finger, platinum is 9 times stronger than gold.
“Chipped diamond”???? chipped on what, thought diamonds could only be broken by a diamond???
We have declined the repair, took a month to be returned, AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I am disappointed with the quality and…“Earring cut my child’s ear – not safe for kids”

I am very disappointed with the quality and finishing of these earrings. The issue is not the backing, but the metal edge on the back of the heart setting that sits directly against the ear. The edge is quite sharp and not smoothly finished.
When my daughter wore the earrings, this edge pressed into her ear and caused a painful cut and infection. The problem seems to be the design and finishing of the setting rather than how the earrings were worn.
After returning them for inspection yesterday, I was informed that they were not considered faulty, which was very disappointing, especially as the injury happened to a child. Because of this I cannot safely allow my daughter to wear them again. I also purchased the additional insurance offered in the store, which makes the outcome even more disappointing.
You can see photos of the earrings and the injury in my Google review for Chapelle Jewellery Castleford.

The most awful experience ever. The staff are rude, talk to you as if you know nothing and look down on you. They also either give you false information or forget to tell you important information then it is your fault not theirs when it goes wrong.

Over two months, no communication, and no accountability

I dropped off two Gresham watches at Chapelle Jewellers in Clarks Village on 2 December 2025 for warranty work. Both watches were also purchased from this store. I was advised at the time that the process could take up to one month.
More than two months later, the matter remains unresolved.
Throughout this period, I received no proactive communication. I contacted the store multiple times and was repeatedly promised a call back. This never happened. The only time I received a call was after I chased yet again.
When I finally obtained an update, I was told the system showed the watches had only arrived at the assessment centre on 7 January, over a month after they were handed over. This update was never communicated to me at the time. I was also given conflicting information during earlier enquiries, including being told the watches had been sent to the manufacturer, and later that they were still being assessed internally.
At no stage was I kept informed of where my property was, what stage the process was at, or when it would be resolved. This lack of communication and transparency is unacceptable.
I escalated the matter formally to head office and did not even receive an acknowledgement of my complaint for over ten days. This raises serious concerns about how customer complaints are handled.
Delays happen. Complete silence, broken promises to call back, and conflicting information should not.
Based on this experience, I would strongly advise against leaving items here for repair or warranty work.

I went to Chapelles Bridgend as my hand…

I went to Chapelles Bridgend as my hand was swollen and i couldn’t get my engagement ring off. I did not buy the ring from this store and it is many years old with great sentimental value. I obviously wanted it fixed and resized. I wrongly assumed the lady serving me knew what she was doing .So I paid 99 pound to get it fixed and resized. I had heard nothing after a month so called them and was told it was there. When I picked it up it was absolutely huge ! Probably 3 sizes to big ! I am heartbroken and the ladies said it should never have been resized straight away as my finger would have been swollen . Makes sense but I assumed the person serving knew what she was doing ! I am waiting to speak to the manager to at least get a refund for them practically destroying by beloved ring. Apparently the staff member who served me originally was spoken to and she said she would have told me to wait until the swelling went down. Absolute lies !if that was the case why was it sent off ? Not only incompetent but a dishonest member of staff also . I am seriously considering legal action.

Rude

Rude! Terrible service in store. I am a polite and convivial person in general but the staff at this store look and talk to you like you are piece of trash. I bought a Seiko watch from them online to collect from the store. I have never had people talk and look at me that way in a retail store before and they were just outright horrible to deal with. The staff did not let me look at the watch until the sale was complete. Just boxed it up and ignored any questions I asked as all four of the staff seemed too preoccupied trying to sell some other overpriced junk to some other unsuspecting person. The only thing one of them said is that there is a two year warranty from Seiko. That is strange though as it is typically 3 years warranty for a Seiko watch? I left the store not feeling happy with the service but at least I got the the watch I wanted. When I arrived home I then put it on the timegrapher only to discover that the watch is not up to Seiko standards. The beat error and the time accuracy is not within Seiko's tolerances for this calibre movement. I don't really want to send a brand new watch to be serviced by Seiko as it will take months to get it back all for just for a simple regulation service which does not take long. I don't want to pay an independent watchmaker to fix a brand new watch so I phoned the store to ask for a return and I then received a rude and hostile response. I was instantly questioned "when did I buy the watch and if you have bought it after 30 days then we will not refund or replace it." There was no "sorry to hear that" or a "how can I help you?". Luckily I bought the watch only 2 weeks ago otherwise I would be out of pocket. I haven't made the trip to return it yet as the store is over 30 miles away from me and I haven't got the time at the moment but when I do get around to it I have the feeling I am going to have a horrid time when trying to get my refund from them. I suggest anyone buying a watch to use a timegrapher app on your phone as a reference to see what garbage returns they are selling you or if it is at an ok standard.
I will also suggest to NEVER shop here, ever. Disgusting service.

Totally unprofessional business

Had a stone fall out of my twist ring. It was under gaurantee so took it back to shop who sent it off. Their conclusion was that I'd accidentally knocked it therefore I'd have to pay for a replacement stone. I have definitely not knocked it & I've had plenty rings over the years (I'm 76) & never had a problem like this. Reading reviews, I see they follow the same pattern. Their jewellery is obviously sub standard if that's the case. I am to get an opinion from a more reputable jeweller, & if their findings differ from Chapelles, I will take the matter further. They're so unprofessional in their handling of customers concerns.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! AWFUL QUALITY What an absolutely awful company - getting married is meant to be the most amazing time of your life. This company has ruined the experience and I would really advice staying away if your looking to buy an engagement ring, wedding ring or anything to be honest. My partner bought my ring and the diamonds started coming loose less than a year later, they replaced the ring quickly but after a fee, as they clearly knew it was faulty! Then AGAIN a year later the diamonds fell out the NEW ring. We sent it back and they are trying to say I did it? Why would I do that to something that I care for so much? I was working, did nothing to provoke this happening I have a desk job (see photos attached) - We should have been offered a refund and an apology but got nothing of the sort, just passing blame. AWFUL QUALITY do not trust this company.

Absolutely disgraceful company

Absolutely disgraceful company. Purchased an engagement ring within a year the stone fell out. Rather than taking any responsibility they made out that my partner had damaged the ring and made us pay a fee to repair it. My partner is adamant she had not done anything to damage the ring. We reluctantly did end up paying to repair it. Again within 12months the stone fell out again. Again they have tried to make out its our fault. It's absolute disgrace, my partner absolute has not damaged the ring and is mortified by the experience. It's a faulty product that they are not taking responsibility for. What should of been one of the most special time of our live has been ruined by a fraudulent company with terrible service and worse products. Avoid this company at all costs.

AVOID at all costs.

Purchased a channel set diamond ring and within 6 weeks a stone fell out. After inspection was claimed to be damage caused by my 70 year old wife. After a very difficult and protracted series of emails and store visits the ring was repaired after payment of £95. Repaired ring was rejected as it now showed damage that was not present before repair.
Eventually Chapelle agreed to replace the ring (having refused a refund).
This time 2 stones fell out within 6 months!
Ring was returned with a request for refund but this was refused and verbally claimed again customer damage. They have refused to put their findings in writing.
Currently refund being claimed under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
AVOID at all costs-customer service is non existent!
F Hinds is parent company and very reminiscent of a now defunct jewellers called Ratners-famous for selling ‘crap’.
Update March 2026 section 75 claim successful! Well worth the effort-totally vindicated.
Absolutely first class service from Barclaycard-thank you very much.

Absolute muppets running this site

Absolute muppets running this site. Avoid them.

10 days after ordering for my partners birthday, I get an email from ‘George Beckwith’ telling me they’re cancelling the order. No mention of refund or anything further.

10 days I waited only to get an email telling me they’re cancelling the order…

I even emailed them after I placed the order to double confirm if it’s all good and when they will ship it, only to be told I’d get a tracking number when it’s shipped (without directly telling me when they would ship it!).

They cancelled the order supposedly due to and I quote “there being issues with shipping the item and the customs charges” to Portugal, despite their website saying free shipping and all taxes included. This was the reason I purchased.

Thanks for ruining a birthday, idiots.

Took a watch there for repair

Took a watch there for repair, they stated to replace the mechanical mechanism with a battery mechanism. Collected the watch, wore it once for 4 hours and it stopped and the mechanism fell out of the holding. Returned UNDER GUARANTEE and they refused to repair it, stating water damage…STRANGE AS WE HADN’T BEEN NEAR WATER.

Disgusting service throughout, failed numerous times to call me back despite many promise.

Watch came without Authentic Armani…

Watch came without Authentic Armani box, no warranty, no Armani booklet, just a watch thrown into a large box.
Watch was £142. Green leather strap. It wasn’t hugely discounted but it was a green strap I needed. Terrible customer services. I believe it to be a good fake in that it works but definitely not authentic
