I was thinking that I will be one of the few with bad review for DHL Romania, since they are DHL!!!! But surprise, here are mostly bad reviews.
And this is mine:
- nobody communicates, custom agents don t read customer requests and don t communicate with customers (they block the email address at some point!), delivery agents don t communicate with their warehouse, customer agents don t communicate with delivery dept
- absurd taxes, 14 euro + vat to make a payment with no other option
- they are stealing small amounts from their customers by increasing custom value with transport cost, which is already in the product cost, without telling them how to prepare the right documents to prevent this
- they are asking about transport cost , while they receive that amount and they also know who paid the transport
- a general attitude that customer should be honoured that they had a shipment with dhl.
- yes it should be written with small laters, like a Temu dhl

Avoid using DHL whenever possible, in Romania and anywhere else. Not only do they often fail to deliver the packages, but they also falsely claim they contacted you or that you weren’t home when no attempt was actually made. Extremely unprofessional and frustrating service.

Tricky practice at delivery process.
The delivery person called sharp and hang up. I didn’t get the chance to answer. I called back but no answer.
Immediately i received a message that “no one was found at the location” and i need to pick up the delivery from their office.
To mention that at the delivery location, we are a company that operates NON STOP 24/7 and constantly there are 2 receptionists present. I was also present in the office at the time i received the notice.
Few days later i had no option but to go in person and pick up the package and i took the opportunity to share my experience with the representative who encouraged me to call customer service department which is totally unprofessional. She should take a initiative and pass this to their department, not me to waste more time for their actions.
To mention that we are a big company and in the same day, another person from our office should receive a package and he also had the same experience. Just for him this was worst as his package should be stored in cold temperature, he used the special package upon delivery however due to the fact that package stayed in their office Saturday and Sunday the products inside got warm and were useless after. (It was about specific medication who could also not be administrated for his treatment)
To mention that on other countries these services were perfect so DHL Romania definitely needs a better qualified Management
DHL Express rip off - no justice
I recently shipped two identical boxes to the USA (AWB 3801145600) — exactly the same ones I used with UPS and FedEx (Fan Courier Tip 8) before. UPS and Fedex scanners always matched my careful measurements perfectly. But DHL's scanners reported different heights (79.5 cm vs. 80.5 cm), pushing volumetric weight from 53 kg to 60.5 kg and significantly increasing costs. Rip off surprise! Despite providing evidence and kindly asking them to verify with a sample box, Maria Bandi from Ro Support rigidly insisted like a robot on "calibrated high precision laser scanners" and "box deformations," offering no real escalation or resolution—just standard templated responses. Trust is gone, so I've paused all DHL USA shipments and reverted to reliable UPS/FedEx; numerous similar complaints online suggest this is common. Avoid DHL Express if you need honest and predictable pricing.
Terrible Customs Team
Terrible people working for this company. Needless to say I'm not referring to the delivery people who have never done me any wrong but the customs team is absolutely terrible. They're rigid, they don't follow any form of protocol, they prefer calls instead of emails like that's of any help, when you express that you want to change the person in charge of your awb and they simply say "no". I'm really not a fan of their services

Delayed delivery - bad communication
It has been 4 days including the weekend and it still shows as being in delivery. There were so many ways to contact the recipient to expedite the delivery process. This courier service in Romania is a very negative experience,

My worst experience in 40 years. The communication is rigid, unpolite and not effective. It seems like that their main focus is to gain 1 star ratings. At least they are successful in doing that. Unfortunatelly not succesfull in delivering goods from oursde Europe. I couldn't get the goods that were delivered from Japan.

Envelope misplaced by driver
I was sent an envelope with an important document from Romania to UK. All good until it came to UK, where the driver decided to deliver it at the address chosen by him, not where l re-directed it. I called them, they didn't want to tell me where the envelope was, as l was ready to go and pick it up myself from where it was. Two days they refused to tell me where my envelope was. Finally the third day they delivered it where it was meant to. Disgusting service at a very high price. I will never send with DHL. Never!
Change the contract with Cargus
Change the contract with the national couriers and use someone other than Cargus. Cargus consistently provides poor service, they can’t track packages properly and frequently lose shipments. It’s unbelievable.

The weakest and worst service ever. Huge costs. Communication, any criticism is welcome. I wouldn't even give one star. I don't recommend. Run away from DHL as much you can.
Massive disappointment.
They really deserve 0 stars. Do not recommend. I had no choice because my package from Australia used them. They made me send so many documents and asked me to get a EORI number (for a small package!). I did all that and sent everything through but they told me I didn't and sent the package back. I have email proof. They lie and their customer service people are rude and absolutely clueless of what's going on. Avoid if you don't want to be disappointed and stressed.
Fake delivery attempt
They say delivery was attempted, but it never was. I would know since I work from home. You can't trust them with international delivery. Been waiting for 1 month to get something? Too bad, it might get returned. A joke of a delivery company.
Long, horrible and expensive
It was the most difficult process of receiving a package I’ve ever experienced. Even the Romanian Post does a better job. The sender paid an extra £30 for the package to arrive in 3 days. Not to mention the fact that I received 5 online documents to sign. Then it took a whole week just to clarify what steps were needed to actually take possession of the package.
Although I eventually agreed to let DHL obtain the EORI code on my behalf, that alone took another week—only for us to discover that an old draft application from 2 years ago had to be deleted first!
On top of that, I was billed over 500 lei in customs duties, when the package itself cost about the same (£150). I was even called and asked whether the toys inside were plush or mechanical. How am I supposed to know what kind of toys the sender is sending as a gift? The package was opened, and so was one of the toys—specifically the one that was meant to be a surprise for my child to open from its secret packaging.
Such a poor service, which ended up costing me three extra weeks of delivery time and double the value of the package, has never happened to me before. I am demanding compensation for such a terrible experience.
