Perfect Ring - Amazing Service
We were browsing outside in the window and a lady came out and welcomed us inside. We were led over to Raj who immediately made us feel at ease and asked us what we were looking for. Despite the shop being very busy he spent his whole focus on us, he took the time to get to know exactly what we wanted and showed us a large range of diamonds and mounts. Not only did he show us but he also took the time to teach us and explain all about diamond cut, clarity and colour, fluorescence and made the whole sale a very enjoyable experience. Raj is very passionate about his work and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to answer all our questions and was very down to earth. He did not "hard sell" or "scare monger". We had been to several other stores and Raj gave us the best price and the best diamond for our money. We bought the perfect ring to collect the following week. On the way back to the car we stopped off at one last store and I had the worst experience ever, the salesman tried to tell me it was fake platinum, not GIA certified and essentially a scam. Even though the DDD store had closed I phoned them and they told me to come back to the store. Raj and several other colleagues spent a long time reassuring me and putting my worries to rest. There's a lot of competition around and not all of them play fair. I couldn't fault the experience and level of service at DDD and would recommend them to anyone. I'll be returning here to get our wedding bands! Thank you Raj.

Appalling After-Sales Service
In February my boyfriend visited Diamond Dealer Direct. He was greeted outside whilst browsing the window by a very helpful member of staff. He went inside and met another member of staff who was extremely helpful and informative and made him feel very much at ease. Buying an engagement ring is not easy and trust with the retailer you choose is incredibly important. This is a huge amount of money in most cases and a big investment for most.
Upon having the information and advice he felt he needed, my boyfriend decided to purchase a ring. He was very careful to make sure that if the size was wrong, or the style was not to my liking that he would be able to return or exchange the ring. The salesperson was very accommodating and made my boyfriend feel that whatever the issue, Diamond Dealer Direct would resolve any situation. Fantastic!
My boyfriend asked me to marry him whilst on holiday recently (I said yes 😊) and gave me the ring. I really liked the ring but it wasn’t quite the style I longed for and was also a little small. How he got it as close as he did without having any idea on my ring size is amazing!! We decided I should try and find a ring I like and contact Diamond Dealer Direct to see how they could help. This was done via email and Instagram messages/pictures and the help was again quite helpful and informative.
We returned from holiday and the very next day visited Diamond Dealer Direct. We were both excited to see what could be done. WOW, how far can an experience swing the other way! We were greeted warmly as before, but then practically ignored whilst the staff whispered between themselves. We were then introduced to a member of staff who sat us down and was immediately hostile. Why he was like this when we potentially wanted to spend a LOT more money with them was beyond us. He hadn’t even bothered to go through what we wanted to do, before he quoted their company policy of no refunds for walk in customers. If we had purchased online, we would have been entitled to a refund. Why a company in 2019 has a different online policy to offline is beyond me. The conversation started to get heated and my boyfriend could sense my upset. He grabbed the ring initially purchased and we both left the store. I immediately burst into tears from the shock and rudeness of someone who was supposed to be helping us with one of the most important purchases of our life.
Diamond Dealer Direct’s aftersales service is appalling, rude, hostile and aggressive. They should not be in business dealing with jewellery and peoples special moments and purchases. They are more suited to a 1990’s market stall. I would not recommend ANYONE going here unless you like to be made to feel small, worthless and upset.
Appalling Company
Really bad customer service. Reading previous reviews I can see I’m not the only one. I just wish my fiancé read these prior to making a purchase he later regretted. We got engaged in July this year in Croatia. The ring was 2 sizes too big so we took it back to diamond dealers to resize. Most companies provide this service free of charge but not diamond dealers. I collected my ring a few days later. I had my new ring which I could finally show off. However, just 7 days later I was doing my grocery shopping (a normal day to day activity) and my single set diamond came flying out, ricocheting off various fixtures. After alerting staff and spending half an hour on our hands and knees, the diamond was unable to be retrieved. We alerted Diamond dealers who simply said ‘it’s not our problem once you leave our shop, claim on your house insurance’ absolutely appalling customer service. We returned to another shop in the qtr for an opinion. The independent jewellers advised that the claws had been drilled out so much by the setter leaving the claws so weak it wasn’t fit to hold any stone (shocking) I’ve now been without my ring 5 months unable to afford another as we are trying to save for our wedding next year. What should be such a happy time in our lives has been completely tarnished by this company. They even had the audacity to accuse me of dislodging the diamond myself for personal gain. Accusing me of tampering with such a meaningful gift is barbaric not to mention upsetting. Diamond dealers take no responsibility. They take your money and wash their hands if anything goes wrong. It’s clear this has happened many times before and will happen again so buyers please beware.... They mention in their review below that they can not be held accountable for customers carrying out strenuous activities? I’m not sure i’d call grocery shopping strenuous, in fact, this is a normal day to day activity which deems the ring NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. a ring should last a life time not a week. The report from the NAJ is pure speculation, how do we know the damage wasn’t caused when the ring was resized? We’ve seen no quality checks after the resizing process which is a big concern.

If you know what you want these guys are great
I knew what I wanted and Raj provided me with a reasonable price for what I wanted. There are alot of cheaper options along the quarter but the quality and service these guys provide without the pushy sales tactics makes a tricky decision a lot easier.
I visited the Quarter having been passed recommendations of another jeweller I’m glad I formed my own opinion and decided to go with These guys instead
Great company to deal with
Great company to deal with - have purchased from the Diamond Dealer Direct on a number of occasions now , its the first call we make when using Birminghams Jewellery Quarter.
Really friendly staff - cannot recommend highly enough
Was excited to buy my engagement ring…
Was excited to buy my engagement ring and initially pleased with the result. I was unsure if the claws were asymmetrical, now I wish I had raised the issue to begin with. After wearing the ring for a couple of weeks I noticed the main diamond spinning in the setting. Went to the company and was told this was my fault and I would need to pay for it to be repaired. I thought this was unfair considering I had only worn it on a few occasions and not on a daily basis and did not recall any time that I had damaged it. Since it has been repaired the same problem has happened. I expected better quality from a luxury product. Not pleased with my customer service experience and pretty disappointed.

FANTASTIC! You won't be disappointed!
What can I say? This shop and its staff were FANTASTIC! My husband and I live a few hours away but a friend recommended the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham...no shop, they just told us us to shop around. We went in loads of the shops but found what we wanted at this shop. We were asked to step inside whilst we were looking in the window outside (don't let this put you off!) We were served by Bhav who was fantastic. Understood exactly what we wanted when we explained what we were looking for. It doesn't matter if you are buying something that is £200 or £20,000 - they'll treat you the same....made our buying experience very comfortable, answered all of our questions and not pushy to buy at all. We left the store and realised we couldn't find better so returned to purchase. They've been great since the purchase. My ring had to be made and I was told 4 weeks. It was bang on 4 weeks and in that time I emailed Bhav with queries and questions and he responded quickly and put my mind at rest. Absolutely FANTASTIC service! And what can I say about the ring?? Well.....its absolutely STUNNING! I wish i could post pictures because its amazing! :) if you have doubts...DON'T...you're in safe hands!
Diamond Dealer Direct - best service!
Diamond Dealer Direct has a friendly and family-like atmosphere. They are extremely knowledgeable and honest-
my fiancé felt comfortable every step of the way. If you are intimidated by the ring buying process or
the jewellery quarter shops just go to diamond dealer direct! They will change your mind! We recommend them to literally anyone that will listen!
We can't wait to go back for our wedding bands!
Totally speechless!!
Having brought my engagement and wedding rings from Diamond Dealer Direct back in 2010, I recently returned to the jewellers to get my rings polished. After wearing the rings continuously for the last 7 years, the rings had obviously dulled considerably.
So when I returned to collect my rings after them being polished, I can say I was honestly shocked and speechless! The rings sparkled even more then when I first got them- they looked amazing! I am so happy to be able to look down at my hand and see my rings sparkling again- it brings a smile to my face everytime.
Look forward to returning again in the future for my eternity ring...hint hint hubby!

This is probably the worst experience …
This is probably the worst experience and customer service I have received. We ordered a wedding band through them in April. We were served by a lady called Sue. Sue failed to measure my ring size and the band came back 3 sizes bigger than my ring size. My partner collected the band in May as I was in Canada at the time. Soon as I came back to England in July I took the band back to them and I was served by a guy called Oliver. Oliver measured my ring size and had a look at the original invoice. He said the invoice suggests Sue made a mistake and instead of measuring my ring size, she went off the stock code. He told me if the band can't be resized, the company will make a decision to order a new one as an employee's mistake was clearly evident. I dropped my ring off with Oliver and received a phone call few days later from the manager who told me nothing can be done with the ring. Apparently I have lost so much weight in 2 months that my ring size drops by 3 sizes. The management took no responsibility, but instead persisted to blame me for their mistake. After further argument they agreed to take the ring back and refund me the cost. That day, I tried few diamond experts to see if I can get the band made elsewhere before I fly back to Canada for our wedding. Getting that exact band with diamonds made in such short time frame was not possible. I reached out the store the next day and asked if I can buy the band back as I'm out of options. They refused to sell me the band back to me. The store has taken zero responsibility in their mistake and have done nothing to rectify the mistake. Our family has bought 4 wedding rings/band from this place in the past and we have recommended them to friends and family. This was clearly a mistake. Diamond Direct are great at making a sale and taking your money but will never rectify a mistake made by their own staff. Looking at the reviews, they have made these kind of mistakes before and tried to blame them on the customer. Staff clearly lack training and the management team don't know a thing about customer service. Buyers be aware!!!!!

Spoke to Bhav Patel who is has great …
Spoke to Bhav Patel who is has great customer service skills and gave me some really good advice about diamonds and engagement rings. There isn't the pushy sales attitude you would normally associate with diamond dealers or the Jewelry Quarter.
Bhav took the time to get to know you, what factors are important to you and doesn't make you feel rushed. Brilliant consultant and overall a great experience for me buying an engagement ring.
If this review was just for Bhav, i would be giving it a 5/5. However it's also about the company and other staff. The front of house 'body guards' aren't the best with customer service. I appreciate their role, but some of their comments are silly.
The price negotiations happen with the director - not the sales consultant. Which is understandable, but a shame. As it is a difficult negotiation process. negotiating is part of the business transaction in this type of industry. You shouldn't be told 'don't embarass me' by trying to negotiate. especially when the offer I put down was accepted int he end!
The ring was slightly loose so we wanted it re-sized. One re-size is free, so we took them up on that offer. My partner wanted a specific size, but the director wanted to change the size to what he wanted. This is a bit strange. I understand expert advice, however you should let the customer decide what is right for them. After all it's their hand, and their product.

THE ONLY PLACE FOR THE PERFECT DIAMOND!!!
So where do we even start?! Me and partner are getting married and after working in Birmingham for a brief stint last year I heard about the Diamind Quarter. We set off from Manchester to have a browse and see what we could get from independent retailers compared to the Ernest Jones of this world. We had no idea so went into a few stores all of whom pointed us in the direction of Diamond Dealer Direct. We were curious as to why they were doing this and it is because a lot of the retailers in the area actually get their diamonds from here and then make their mark up so if we were looking for a bargain it was better to go to Diamond Dealer Direct. This was only a good sign and we were told they have been around for over 40years as a family business which is the peace of mind when buying a diamond ring. Off we went and were greeted by a lovely woman, who turned out to be the mother of the family. We waited for her son Raj and he immediately put us at ease. We explained we were just looking and although we knew what we were looking for just wanted to try sizes, get ideas and costs etc. He did all of this with no questions asked. He asked lot's of questions and got everything we wanted. Back and forth he went to the back to get different diamonds and sizes etc. Little did we know we had wasted 2 hours all ready... time flew so quick but he was not bothered just looking after us! After this point he brought out another diamond, slightly over my budget and size required but we had asked to see it to be fair. My mistake because as soon as my partner saw it, no surprise but it was the one!!!!! I could see it in her eyes and knew I had to get this for her, although not once were we forced or given the sales pitter patter that I hate and would have driven me away. We were also to my surprise given the opportunity to step outside and see the clarity of the diamond in the bright day light several times and treated like family not customers which was such a nice touch. Naturally me and my partner had a little chat and were left to do so and we decided why waste time let's do it. Raj and my partner started designing the perfect engagement ring and I left them to it. In the mean time I got chatting to Bhav about men's rings and he was just as helpful. When They had finished we started writing the invoice and I was that happy with the service We decided to get both of our platinum wedding bands and kill all 3 birds with one stone in one day. I was expecting hours of different shops and numerous visits back to Birmingham but we had done it. Granted all in all we spent 5hours there and kept them open past closing nothing was any trouble to them at all!!!! I guess there's a reason they have such a high rating on here! I haggled as anyone would and fairly got offered the best prices at the start anyway so it wasn't even an issue! Anyways walking away with a much lighter wallet after paying a more than fair 50% deposit we were told a 2-3 week turn around, which was fine as not in a rush. 9 days later we get a call to say they were all ready. Off we went again....... this is truly when my partner was silenced and her reaction PRICELESS!!!! Out came a platinum, 6 claw solitaire with a beautifully placed 1.6ct diamond looking truly perfect. The fitting alongside the wedding band also perfect due to size of carat needed some shaving and this was done expertly by the diamond jeweller. We spent some time and although picking up rings were given the same treatment and not rushed at all. We got all diamond certificates, valuations and insurance details plus I asked for an extra box and cloths which were given no questions asked! And finally told we can come back for a yearly service as well as any issues then just call. This really is what you want for something that you are going to have for the rest of your life!
I genuinely cannot speak highly enough of Raj, all the staff and Diamond Dealer Direct as a whole. For such a sensible spender to not only go ahead with the engagement ring and 2 others really does speak volumes of my treatment and there's a reason this place is the busiest in the Jewellery Quarter. I've been told by my partner that we will return here for an eternity ring. I'll have to save up for that but can assure you this will be the only place I will ever get future jewellery from and recommend all family and friends to.
Thank you for everything... Iffy and Sana

Fast and efficient service
The diamond had come loose from my solitaire ring and I took it back to Diamond Dealer Direct. I was served by Ben who was very helpful and courteous. He had my ring fixed in no time and made it sparkle even more. I was very impressed with his help.

Many problems, and many visits required to resolve
Before I go on to review this retailer, I want to make clear that my partner now has an engagement ring which she loves. But, as you will see, the memories of the hassle involved will probably last as long as the memories of the engagement itself. This is probably going to be a long review, but I want to make sure I miss nothing out. This is based upon my experiences at the shop itself; I didn't order online.
In short:
- Six visits in total.
- Wrong ring mount ordered by employee.
- An attempt to blame error on us.
- Ring set by jeweller instead of waiting for inspection by customer.
- New ring chosen, but wrong size ordered.
- A beautiful ring was eventually produced.
- A final mistake made on the valuation certificate.
My partner visited with her friend back in January in order to check out some rings. After looking elsewhere I visited with her later that month in order to look more closely at some rings.
During our first visit to the shop my partner tried on several platinum ring mounts. After about 20 minutes of trying on rings we decided that there was one mount in particular that we liked. We weren't going to buy that day, however, and so we left the shop. Before we did, one of the employees wrote down the mount number on a business card, so that the same mount could be looked at if we returned. We never saw the mount number for ourselves.
We returned a couple of weeks later because we decided that the ring mount chosen on that day was the best one we had seen. We handed over the mount number, but it wasn't in stock. We were told this wasn't a problem: we could choose a diamond today, order the ring mount, and my partner would be called in within the next couple of days to decide how high the stone should be set. This would also allow us to check the design as a whole since the mount was not available for inspection with a diamond. We were given a price for the mount number given together with the diamond. I asked whether there was a policy of price-matching (because Blue Nile are cheaper), and was surprised to be told that there was no such policy. This was surprising considering the statement on the website. Nevertheless, a discount was offered and accepted. I paid in full there and then, and we waited for a phone call.
Having been told to wait "a couple of days" we waited until the end of the week and then my partner called. She was told that the wait was more like six weeks. She was then called back later that day and told that it would be more like two weeks. Fair enough, but this should have been made clear on the day. My partner reminded the staff member that she would need to see the ring before it was set.
As the new deadline approached I called twice more to see what was going on. On each occasion I reminded the staff member that the ring should not be set before my partner had seen the ring and stone together. We were told that an appointment would be set for my partner to attend, for the setting position to be chosen, and then a couple of hours would be required for the jeweller to set the stone.
An appointment was set for a Friday afternoon in February. My partner went along (I was elsewhere with work) and was presented with a complete ring. My partner expressed surprise that the ring had been set without her being there. But there was a bigger problem: it was not the right ring mount. It was a completely different design: much thinner, no knife-edge as had been chosen. My partner explained that it was wrong, but the employee was insistent that she must be mistaken. My partner took the ring away and then contacted me.
I immediately called the shop and told them that I had not seen the ring, but if my partner was correct then the ring would need to be replaced. I was asked (very reasonably) to put my complaint in writing, and I spent 90 mins that evening writing out a record of every conversation. I saw the ring on the Sunday for the first time and it was immediately obvious that this was the wrong ring.
I called on the Monday and asked to speak to an employee who was not the one who dealt with us. However, she was the person who returned my call. She tried to assert that if a mistake had been made it must have been our fault because we had provided the mount number on a business card. Of course, the trouble with this argument is that she wrote the wrong number on the card in the first place. I re-asserted that the ring would need to be replaced, and we went again the next day to return the ring.
At the shop we were greeted by the same employee. She offered various knife-edge ring settings for my partner to try on. For the most part there was no discussion of the mistake made by the employee. I decided this would be unnecessary as long as the issue was dealt with. Sadly, the employee at one stage could not help but remark that the fault must lie with us because we hadn't checked the mount number.
My partner chose a knife-edge setting which was as close to the chosen mount as she could recall. We were then informed that this heavier band may lead to a higher price because of the additional metal value. I stated that this would need to be looked at in the event that there was an increase in price: I had agreed to a price based upon the representation made by the employee. The new mount was ordered, and it was agreed that we would attend the shop against to check the mount and check the height of the stone in the ring setting.
On our penultimate visit there was another problem. My partner tried on the ring and it jammed against her knuckle. It was three sizes too small. "How has that happened?", questioned the employee. Yet another mistake. The jeweller came down and we decided on the positioning of the stone. It was agreed that the ring would be re-sized. It was also confirmed that we would not be required to pay for the additional metal weight, which was said to be £280.00.
On our final visit to collect the ring, I remarked to my partner "What else can go wrong?". I'm very pleased to say that we left the shop with a beautiful ring. But not before the employee botched the new insurance valuation certificate. Just before she began to fold up the new valuation certificate I pointed out that she had noted down the wrong mount number. Initially she denied this, but in fact she had wrongly written down the mount number from the business card, whereas the newly selected mount had a different number. "How did this happen?" she asked herself. Another mistake made on an important document.
The experience was terrible. This was a once-in-a-lifetime purchase and it could only have been worse if they had refused to remedy the situation. In fairness to them the ring is brilliant and so in the end they delivered what was asked of them. But the value added by this company was meant to be everything except for the manufacture of the ring (done elsewhere) and mining of the diamond. I could have bought a diamond from anywhere, but chose a specialist in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter. The whole experience took a shine off the excitement. I cannot possibly recommend this shop to anybody. And I won't comment on the invitation to visit the shop again when we look for wedding rings.

Excellent management
It was funny that this was the first place I went into to purchase a diamond engagement ring. I am so glad that it was, as afterwards, wherever I went, it was revealed that all the other places, in jewllery quarter or hatton garden, couldn't match the management, the communication, the knowledge and the professionalism that Diamond Dealer Direct had to offer.
I bought 4 rings in the process (when I thought I'd just buy the one engagement) - I ended up buying some wedding bands too!
If you are looking for diamond engagement/wedding rings - look no further, nowhere else can offer as good quality and service as this place!!

We just popped in as we'd had an issue with an antique ring we had bought.
The lady who helped us , was clearly very knowledgeable , understood the issue and gave excellent advice . We are definitely going to have them quote for a replacement and will be looking to them for future purchases!

Excellent service.
Excellent service. I was looking to buy an engagement ring and looked at a few shops before heading into diamond direct. Raj P showed me the various factors in choosing a diamond and he was very friendly and honest. He made the whole experience worthwhile.
I have since then bought 7 other diamond rings for my family from there.
Defo recommend the shop and thanks to Raj P for being so nice and friendly to me and my family.
