Relaxation achieved!!

What an amazing find, you will not be disappointed by selecting this amazing property. The spacious bedrooms, numerous patios to enjoy the glorious view of the river to indulging in the hot tub, this place is a must if you want relaxation. This place had everything, from the nautical decor throughout the house and the attention to detail was impressive, towels and slippers on all the beds, spare towels for the regular dips to the hot tub, to fresh flowers, tea, bread, milk, biscuits and all the essentials upon arrival, this place had it all and I have to say the kitchen was very well equipped! We were a group of 10 girls and thoroughly enjoyed our stay we only left the house once as you had everything you needed at your fingertips. Plenty of outdoor space for our yoga session, with a lovely area for our evening BBQ and plenty of seating We have decided to make this a annual get away! Well done Bywater, see you next year! :) I highly recommend Bywater!

Whitstable in June

My 4 female friends and I stayed at Free Diver Cottage, Island Wall, Whitstable at the beginning of June for 5 days. The cottage is very well situated near to both the sea and the town which has a wide range of shops supplying all ones needs. There are many restaurants and cafes with very helpful and friendly staff. The Duke of Cumberland pub offers an unusual 'menu' in that there is no menu and for a charge of £15 per head a marvellous succession of wonderful, local, fresh food is brought to the table as and when ready. A superb experience, good value for money and highly recommended.
The cottage is lovely - clean and light with a delightful garden. It has all one needs. However, the downstairs toilet is a disgrace and in need of immediate attention. It needs a thorough overhaul and re-painting; the flush system takes ages to re-fill; there is a dripping pipe in the corner. This facility is far from the standard of the rest of the property.
In high winds the bedroom windows rattle constantly preventing sleep. The drive at the front of the property is dangerous. There is insufficient room for people to go by once a car is on the drive and the approach to the cottage is far from attractive.
We were pleased to find a washing line but were not able to use it as we could not find any clothes pegs.
This is a good property in an excellent location but it needs some immediate detailed attention and maintenance.

Super stay - enjoyed ist so much

A snuggly small but bright and lovingly renovated cottage in the Center of the village. Beach is just around the corner - heaps of sand for the children to build sandcastles, nice Café/ Restaurant for the grown-ups. Bakery, butchers and supermarket in very short walking distance.
Children should not be too young, since the staircase is very steep.
We loved it!

Amazing accommodation and a great setting

This is a great apartment with everything you need. The view of the river is amazing and makes for s great setting.

The owner is friendly and always around if you need him,but if you don't, you are left to your own devices.

With close links to Paignton, Torquay and Brixham it is an ideal location. The village is very quiet and there is a nice pub which does great food.

Would definitely recommend this place and would stay again

Thanks

Fabulous bay view in Torquay

We spent 3 days in early June at Tofino Apartment in Torquay. This is a new, very modern flat with a great kitchen and bathroom. It also has a washing machine. The view of the bay is stunning. Nikki met us at check-in and provided us with great information. She was very accommodating. Be aware that the hike uphill to the apartment from town is quite significant, and unless one takes their car back and forth, it is a consideration. My husband and I considered it good exercise and were glad for the challenge! We enjoyed being in this beautiful part of Torquay and enjoyed our stay.

Lovely stay at Driftwood Cottage

We had a lovely stay in Driftwood Cottage, the house was clean, relaxing and comfortable. Very well equipped, a home from home. It was close to the hub of the village of Shaldon, which is delightful and minutes from the beach. Gorgeous views from the dining room and kitchen and the decking outside was a real sun trap.

Would definitely book again.

Seasalter Beach Hut is the perfect seaside chalet

From the moment we walked in memories of childhood beach holidays flooded back. The chalet was flooded with sunlight and beyond the big picture windows the sea was shimmering.
The well-equipped chalet is right on the beach (there's only a few yards of shingle to the water's edge) so it has unbeatable views of the sea: across the Swale and the Isle of Sheppey and also right across the Thames Estuary. From the sitting room with the big windows or from the sheltered porch you can sit and watch the tides rise and fall, and the light as it changes constantly; as well as the birds (there are nature reserves nearby) and the fishermen digging worms from the mudflats.
The cottage is compact but very well equipped, with a full kitchen, a log burning stove and even satellite TV (but we hardly watched TV when there was something much better to watch outside the window.
It is well decorated and spotlessly clean.
The only drawback was the snug bedroom which had a narrow double bed. But otherwise this made for a perfect beach holiday.

Fabulous cottage

We stayed for 6 nights at castle cottage in Kingswear and we couldn't have asked for anything more! The cottage was perfect and very spacious. Kingswear is a beautiful place and the cottage had fantastic views over the river dart estuary and out to sea. Would definitely recommend the cottage and discovery holiday homes were excellent in every way! We will definitely be back.

Longcroft House - Space, character, homely, views, convenient location,

Our family of 7 adults and 2 young children stayed at Longcroft House from 23rd May until 30th May. The house itself is beautiful. Still feels like a family home. We loved the decor, the space, the large functional kitchen, the beautiful sitting room with far east themed ornaments and of course the wonderful views looking south over Torbay. Amazing. It was a marvellous week's family holiday. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a large family gathering in Torquay. We will be booking again.

Highly recommended.

Lovely, comfortable accommodation. Scrupulously clean and bright. Everything you need is there.
Well positioned for walking to the beach, shops around the corner and a pub The London Inn across the green which serves first rate food.
Parking is a nightmare but that's Shaldon.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Excellant

Really is an amazing place to stay for a short break, the location is superb as are all the pubs, restaurants that are all located nearby.
The only small thing is if a toaster could be added to avoid having to use the grill on the oven just to make a slice of toast

Uncomfortable experience!

There is no doubt this property is exactly what is advertised but on arrival we were hit by lots of house rules which lead to a very uncomfortable stay. Had we been aware of these prior to booking we would not have booked. Our holiday was to be a relaxing break, sitting reading with a glass of wine, few nibbles was one of our expectations but house rule of no food or drink in the living room stopped that. I like to cook things I don't have time for ordinarily, house rule no preparing or serving highly aromatic food in the apartment, stopped that. The threat of extra charges for makeup marks on bedding and towels resulted in me having to by my own bedding and towels just in case! House rules were posted everywhere and for a rented holiday home very unreasonable. An immaculate property it certainly was but at the price of an enjoyable holiday. An experience not to be repeated for us!!!!!

Dear Mr & Mrs Roberts,

Thank you so much for providing us with feedback from your recent stay.

We have already been in touch with the property owner to moderate the house rules. In the past, there have been several incidents which have led to the stipulations listed being a little lengthier than one would normal see and we sincerely apologise for the negative effect this had throughout your holiday break.

We also hope that this experience does not deter you from booking with us again and we look forward to welcoming you back to Discovery Holiday Homes in the near future. We will be very happy to offer you a 15% discount any time of year (other than school holiday weeks), for any of our listed holiday homes.

Beautiful Base In Shaldon

Our stay at Palm Cottage was a truly enjoyable experience. We used the house as a base to meet up and entertain friends and family while on holiday. The kitchen and house is equipped with all mod cons and has great entertaining space. The house has everything to make you feel at home on holiday, be it toys for children or boardgames to play on quiet evenings in.
We enjoyed our stay and will likely return next year. There is a small parking space to the rear but ample for a medium sized car. The garden is nicely set out, with a apple tree in full blossom while we were there. We had a small problem when arriving, however this was put right by the owner within hours. We appreciated the period features of this Georgian house, and would recommend Shaldon Palm Cottage.

Exquisite beachside retreat - perfect for sea, sand, tranquillity - perfect for me.

I spent a well-needed 24 hours in this gorgeous beach hut. Well-equipped and stylish, it was the perfect environment for a luxury escape. I was cosy, it was peaceful, and I particularly loved sitting on the terrace sipping wine in the evening.
Maybe the highlight though was stepping from the terrace onto the sand with a cup of tea early morning - not another soul around - just sea, sand, tea and me.

Lovely cottage if your party is only two able bodied people without dogs

Stunning views from lovely upstairs main bedroom and upstairs lounge, however 2nd bedroom is extremely basic, very disappointing and uncomfortable - small double bed, no headboard and only one bedside table.
Kitchen and dining facilities all satisfactory.
Back yard which is advertised as a place that would be useful for wiping dogs paws is not at all useful as it is on the back of the house and the only entry into the house is through the front door.
There are over 20 fairly steep steps from the street to the front door and unfortunately no hand rail to hold onto. This was a real issue for our elderly parents to confidently and safely negotiate every day.
So if the was just a fit couple staying at this cottage it would be a beautiful holiday venue, but not so comfortable for more people and not really that practical for elderly people or dogs.
