DLG autos wrecked my car

If I could give no stars I would.
This is a horrifying and shocking story that no one with whom I have discussed it can quite believe.
My car was involved in an RTA on 18th January this year. My son was driving, and he was rear ended at the Dunblane roundabout. The driver of the other car was obviously at fault and his insurance dealt with the repairs etc and we were informed that it had to go to DLG autos in Glasgow.
While it was in the workshop they apparently scanned it after they did the repairs, and it showed up a warning / alert with a previously not present engine / oil fault. They took it apart to investigate the cause of the warning they had seen. I was then informed that they needed to send it to a Mazda dealership to have it looked at in more detail. It was sent to a dealership in Ayr. At some point during this process, I was informed that the engine had seized. They told me they that the exhaust cam was broken, and that they needed to strip the whole engine down to find out what the underlying issue was and that that would cost me £1300. After which , I would likely be told that there is nothing to be done, apart from a new engine. I spoke to a mechanic friend of mine who said that if the exhaust cam was broken then the engine was “goosed” and that that would be a huge waste of my £. At this point I was told that insurance Co don’t cover mechanical failure.
As I understandably had no trust in the “mechanics” from DLG autos or Mazda in Ayr, I arranged for the car to be taken to my friend’s garage in Glasgow.
The car arrived with the engine in bits, damaged, and with bits of it in a plastic bag.
He said that it looked like it had been taken apart / worked on by a school pupil.
These people are body work repairers and I’ve been told should have been nowhere near taking my engine apart like they did.
Since it arrived with him he has tried everything to fix the car, but has finally waved the white flag.
I now have a car that is basically written off, but which is worth £14,500.
I opened a contact last night with DLG autos , who called me this morning, but after asking 5 times, refused to give me the customer service e mail address.
After putting this review on here they got in touch and sent a “complaint” to the insurance company.
This has triggered an engineer from the insurance company coming out to assess my un drivable car at the garage where I sent it for a second opinion after DLG wrecked it.
Thats happening next week, but I’ve read on here that the insurance company actually own DLG autos?!? Am going to look into this, as how on earth can that be a fair or neutral assessment?!
The motor ombudsman has been involved so will update them on this latest development
Update:
So the engineer has been out to look at the car. He called me after. He had been told 2 significant lies by DLG autos.
Lie no 1) they’re claiming that the car came to them not driving/ broken. This is an outrageous lie. It was driven away from the accident as per police report driving perfectly other than some electronics that had been knocked off by the impact. I drove it from the 18th January till 10th Feb with no mechanical issues . It was picked up by DLG autos on 19th Feb and I presume driven to their garage. They told me that it was driving fine after they repaired the damage, but that they “ did a final scan which picked up an oil/ engine issue “ and that they then took the engine apart to find out what that was. While in the process of this the “engine seized” . They then said to be looked at in more depth it needed to go to a Mazda dealership.
Lie no 2) they told the engineer Mathew Forrest that they never touched the engine and that it was Mazda that took it apart. Mazda have since confirmed that the engine came to them in a state of having been taken apart and sort of put back together with work having been badly done. They agreed that it was badly damaged and the engine not working
The engineer is cross at being lied to, and like me, thinks something stinks to high heaven here. So does my own mechanic.
I want my car back in the condition it was prior to the accident, or the monetary value of it. I want my own mechanics bills covered, and all costs incurred by me so far in this appalling case of negligence and attempts to cover it up, reimbursed.
That DLG autos are still working on people’s cars horrifies me.

Good, trouble free service

Everything went smoothly. The only issue was that they did not explain what repairs were required. I missed their call and they did not return my call, which had been promised.
