5 star service … again

Rob and Alfie did an excellent job fitting a shower and new bathroom flooring. They arrived promptly each day, never left a mess, and finished the job earlier than expected. They are both friendly and helpful, and I’d be happy to have them back again if we need other work doing. Lou is also brilliant on the phone - always a pleasure to talk to her.

Excellent as always

Phoned DPB in the morning and my dripping tap was fixed in the afternoon.

Dan the apprentice sorted it out with ease.

Dan is a credit to your business.

Great Company,

Great Company,
Jamie did my gas safety certification and boiler service..thoroughly professional and a nice chap too.
I’ve got a few more jobs to be done
and will most definitely be working with DPB again

An eye opener

We have had good service from this company in the past servicing our boiler for £80. However, it is worth pointing out that they offer a priority response and not emergency cover when there are issues. We had a frozen boiler and were pleased that even after 8 pm we could speak to someone about it. We were told someone would get back to us - and they did, at 7.15 am the following morning. We had told the person on the phone the previous evening that there was a poorly person in the house ( and it was well below freezing outside). However, the guy who phoned in the morning was abrupt and told us that they don't offer emergency response cover; so if that is what you want, this company is not for you. However, when they did come, the engineer 'fixed' the problem within ten minutes, for £96 (we did not have a cover plan). The same issue arose that evening and once again we phoned. DPB responded and sent another guy to fix the problem. This time they did not charge.

Call out

Call out at the end of the day to our boiler as it had frozen in the cold weather, the office staff were helpful and friendly especially as we have young children in the house. An engineer arrived within 30 minutes and the boiler back working within the hour! Friendly, helpful and efficient engineer! Thanks very much!

Bathroom Replacement

DPB have just replaced our bathroom. The quality of workmanship is excellent and the engineer worked in a clean and tidy manner and always arrived at the time stated. Both office staff and engineers were extremely helpful and courteous and kept us up-to-date at every stage of the process.

We cannot recommend them highly enough.

Gas fitter and electrician swapping out cookers.

Gas fitter and electrician.

The office and in the main, I had no issue with. Always polite, informative of times, booking in, etc. perfect.

The gas fitter came fairly punctually, did the job well and left. There was a little bit of inconvenience with the disposal of the old gas cooker, as he had told me he'd arranged someone to pick it up but it sat there for 3 days until in the end I had to pay for it to be taken away.

Still not a huge issue.

The problem I had was with the electrician. I won't name him here but I do know it, as two came to do the job.

Firstly, he/they didn't turn up at all on the day booked. Not a word or a text to say why, despite my having to put the whole day on hold.

When he came on the next day booked, he was openly hostile from the second I opened the door. Overly defensive, no apology.
Any question I asked was met with a thinly veiled scorn I have never witnessed in all my years as a paying customer. He didn't like it when I asked him to set up my cooker either, despite it being part of the job.
I might use the firm in the future (might) but NEVER send me that person again.

1. Dan was not on time, he was a bit late but it wasn't an issue.
2. I never said the disposal of the cooker was included in the contract. Dan said he would dispose of it, via his contact.
I did inform you he hadn't been to pick up the cooker and then 3 days later, did it myself - why so defensive? Why are you making this an issue where there wasn't one.
As for your electrician, it wasn't the fact that he didn't show, it was his hostility and attitude when he did.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback for the recent works carried out in your home.

Customer feedback is an important part of our business and complaints are something we take very seriously as we always try to give the best possible service at all times in all areas of our business.

We pride ourselves on delivering the best possible service we can as can be seen from all our previous reviews.

In regards to your review and comments please find our detailed response as follows addressing each point you have raised individually:

Our gas engineer Danny attended the appointment on time within the agreed 1 hour time slot between 11-12am on the 31st August 2022.

I have checked the information we hold on Danny's van tracker and I can see he arrived at your job at 11:16am and left at 11:58am.

We always try to get to every customer at the arranged time we are booked in for and in the event we are going to be late we will always inform you which in this instance we did not need to do as we was within the agreed time slot.

All works were carried out as agreed to remove the gas hob, oven and cap off the old gas pipe work.

All works completed in line with our quotation.

In regards to the disposal of the old gas cooker and gas hob this was not included in our quotation and is the reason we did not dispose of the old appliances.

We did however as a gesture of goodwill contact a local scrap collector we regularly use to collect the items free of charge and he informed us he would attend to collect these the next day as we informed you.

We can only assume he could not see the items to collect as he is normally very reliable and did not get in touch with us to inform us he couldn't find the items to collect.

Had you informed us again nobody had collected them we would have chased this up for you and had them removed as soon as possible free of charge.

Regarding the electrical works carried out at your property we used a third party contractor, who although works alongside us on many jobs this company is nothing to do with DPB Plumbing & Heating Engineers Ltd.

However as the main contractor for the works we accept full responsibility for the complaint and will raise this with the electrical contractor in question.

We organised the electrical works for you simply to ensure all the works were completed at the same time making sure sure you had a new cooker installed as quickly as possible.

Although we included the electrical works in our quotation we have made no money on the electrical works carried out at your property.

Due to the complaints made against the electrical contractor it would have been easier if we had not quoted you for the electrical works, however we cannot change this now.

In the past they have always delivered an excellent service and we can only apologise that on this isolated incident their high standards were not met and they did not attend on the day or time as agreed.

Regarding his hostility and attitude, this is not acceptable and we will certainly investigate these issues raised ensuring this never happens again.

We will only use contractors that we trust to be able to work alongside us.

In regards to the electrician not turning up on the day of the appointment, Once you had made contact with our office informing us they had not attended and despite our best efforts from our office staff on the day they was unable to get in contact with the electrical company.

We then assured you that we would endeavour to continue to try and contact them and update you as soon as we knew more which we did the next morning.

They then attended and completed the required works at the new time and day arranged with you in line with our quotation.

We will raise the issues with the electrical contractor in question and his company to ensure this does not happen again in the future.

We offer our sincere apologies to you and your family that on this occasion you felt let down by our electrician and his team.

Excellent service

"I was let down by another plumber who didn't turn up when they said they would. My new kitchen is being delivered the next day and I was panicking. I saw a post about DPB Plumbing & Heating on Facebook - All things Scarborough page. I rang them and spoke to Louise, a lovely lady, really helpful. I explained my situation and she arranged for Alfie to come and complete the work the same day. Alfie came on time, really polite and professional. He did an excellent job for a reasonable price and I couldn't be happier with both the first and second fix. I would definitely recommend. In fact I'd say don't bother looking elsewhere just go straight to DPB for a reliable, friendly and professional service."

Excllent job and company

Dan arrived bang on time. He was polite, efficient and very tidy. He paid attention to all aspects of the heating system prior to fitting 2 new radiator valves.
I would rate DPB very highly. Each time we have used them, they have proved excellent!"

Professional company

We recently had an en suite bathroom fitted We found the staff very efficient & professional throughout & a special mention for Rob who was here through most of the process & worked extremely hard He was professional , reliable & friendly
There were one or two hiccups during the process which were handled sorted out very quickly & efficiently
We are very pleased with the result & would highly recommend them

Excellent job from Danny and his team…

Excellent job from Danny and his team to install new combi boiler. Left tidy, all rubbish removed. Office staff helpful and friendly. Were recommended to us and we would have no hesitation recommending DPB also.

Just excellent

Just excellent: punctual, courteous, tidy, professional and competent. Big job completed in less than the 3 days predicted. Great to have the follow-up to make sure we were satisfied. Looking forward to DBP doing the next project - new bathroom.
