Avoid this company.

Avoid this company.
They pressure you into taking additional insurance by claiming that your card is a debit credit card and not a credit card, even though this is never mentioned during the booking process. Their system accepts your debit card payment without any issues at the time of reservation.

However, when you arrive at their office, located far from the city or airport, they hand you a paper with new conditions and demand that you purchase extra insurance.
As a result, a small economy car ends up costing as much as a luxury SUV.

In my case, I booked a small car for 2 weeks at €224, over 2.5 months in advance, but at the office they asked for €611 for the exact same car and period.

Many customers feel trapped due to language barriers, the remote location of the office, and peak season pressure.
Don’t fall for it! Refuse the extra charges and return to the airport – you can find better deals there. Or if you booked via a rental site, call their customer support – they helped me find another car at the original price.

ECH is a scam

ECH is a scam, I wish I would have followed the advise I read to not rent with them. They found a virtually impossible to see mark bottom of the bump and charged it to me. Don’t rent here.

Terrible experience.

Terrible experience.
They wouldn't use my credit card as it would expire in less than 3 months even though it was after I would return the car. Wouldn't use debit card without me taking the full insurance.
Added us 60 euros to drop off our car at 7am.
On top of that we had requested two child seats. They threw them at us and told us to install them without any help or clear instructions. Meanwhile the staff was just being rude and sitting around doing nothing.

The worst experience ever.

The worst experience ever.. they are thieves. You pay more and more and the take more money from your credit card for scruthes 362euros!!! Scruthes that have been there but I didn’t take a photo. Choose another company!

Attractive price but

We were asked to pay 122€ saying we would be refunded 3 weeks later by three different people. After one month waiting, we reached to costumer service, the told us we actually payed for extra insurance so there won’t be any refund.
Seeing other reviews, it looks like they will find anyway to get more money from each rental.
This company is completely dishonest.

Everything you've heard is true..scammers

Like many others I fell foul of not taking out their insurance (I had hire car excess insurance already) and guess what? They found a tiny mark on a door edge that was so hard to spot that I'm guessing he knew it was there already and charged me nearly 200 euros for it.
He showed me a picture on a computer of a white door without a scratch but didn't show me that it was the same vehicle and couldn't say when it was taken. In other words it could've been rented out many times between the photo being taken and me hiring it.

These people are criminals

These people are criminals. Do NOT hire a car from them. As with others below, I was scammed (over 80 euros) for a small (and I mean small!) scratch on the hub cap that definitely wasn't my fault. Unfortunately it was dark when I arrived, which they would have been aware of, so I missed it.

Go elsewhere

I would advise customers to look elsewhere. Someone attempted to break into the car. There was a very small amount of damage to the lock plate. I was charged over 400 Euros.

Terrible experience - avoid this company!

We were charged €353 for a scratch on the sill that we absolutely did not cause. It was invisible to the eye and not part of the initial inspection. When we returned the car, three employees immediately pointed to it as if rehearsed. They ignored my protest, erased my disagreement from the return form, and threatened to call the police. I followed up with a formal complaint, but they never responded. Unprofessional, intimidating, and clearly set up to profit from unfair damage claims

BEWARE

BEWARE, everywhere they say that a debit card is no problem, but at the counter they will add extra insurance which costs another 40 euros per day if you don't have a credit card. Maybe that's how most rental companies do it, but I was not happy with them when I picked up the vehicle.

Zero stars – FRAUDULENT and DISHONEST!

Avoid this company at all costs. After returning the car in perfect condition, they attempted to charge my card without my approval for so-called “damages” that were nothing more than dust and dirt from normal driving. It’s clear they are running a scam, hoping customers won’t notice or dispute the extra charges.

This is outright fraudulent behavior, and it’s unacceptable. I’ve rented cars all over the world and never encountered such a shameless attempt to take money dishonestly. Save yourself the headache—do not trust this company.

Shocking service from Pisa team

Shocking service from Pisa team, denied we had paid for the booking despite providing evidence of credit card sale denied car hire until we paid again, we paid and chased for three weeks for a refund! Refund arrived not chasing cancelled booking refund but surprise surprise nothing! I echo all the comments below they are scams even the surrounding car hire companies at Pisa are warning not to book with them!

Avoid ECH Easy Car Hire in Catania

I booked a car online through Check24 for 12 days at a great rate of €86. When I arrived at the ECH desk in Catania, the staff saw the low price and immediately told me I had to pay an additional €300 because I didn’t have a return flight booked. This absurd “rule” was supposedly in the terms and conditions, but when I showed them my booking confirmation, there was absolutely no mention of any flight requirement.

Instead of taking responsibility, they blamed me for using Check24, saying it was “my fault” for booking through a third party, as if that justifies their hidden fees and shady tactics. In the end, I walked away and booked with another car rental company at the airport, which had no ridiculous flight requirement and was fully transparent.

The behavior was very unprofessional, and clearly preys on unsuspecting travelers with fine-print tricks. Don’t fall for the cheap price, they’ll make you pay far more once you’re at the counter. Stay far away from ECH Easy Car Hire.

It's a scam company

It's a scam company. Apparently they use several different tactics to steal, we witnessed a couple of them during our visit to ECH Pisa Airport. They took the rental price from my credit card and then blocked the card machine so that the deposit couldn't go through (called my bank to check that there's no problems in that end and was perfectly able to pay the deposit in another rental company with the same card). They refused to give me the pre-booked car I had paid for and also refused to return the rental price. I still haven't received any refund after almost a month. For another client, they claimed that they couldn't give the pre-booked car (booking fee paid) because the customer wanted to pay the rest of the rental sum by a debit card. They had big signs on the desk saying that they accept both debit and credit cards. Also that customer lost his money and didn't get the car. The woman on the desk also lied about the contents of the rental agreement (showed only the Italian text while trying to lie), saying that to be able to get the car, we should have sent our boarding passes to the office 24 hours before picking up the car, which is ridiculous since one can't have a boarding pass for a flight that leaves after a week or so. The contract actually said that client must inform the return flight number to be able to get the car, which is completely different (luckily I had printed the terms in english). The person on the counter first tried to force us to buy their own insurance because we hadn't sent the non-existing boarding passes in advance. Of course we refused and afterwards she changed the tactic to the "card not working for deposit payment". Completely criminal operations, be aware.
