Not impressed
Not impressed. When we got there they first stated that it would be over $500 (our quoted price online when we booked, including extra protection etc.was $308). Then they added $1000 more for a security deposit.
Run to ANY other car rental.
Lied to us about charges
Lied to us about charges. We had a flat tyre during our rental (understandable, these things happen). ECH were not very helpful but instructed us to use the tyre repair kit in the car and get to garage for a wheel change (at our own expense). We later returned the car, it was inspected and confirmed as no "no damage" and no charges. But once we were home we got an email invoice for using the tyre repair kit, as instructed by ECH!
This company will totally rip you off…
This company will totally rip you off be careful. Read all reviews before booking. Worst experience I've ever had with a car company
Avoid at all costs.
AVOID ECH (Easy Car Hire) at Pisa…
AVOID ECH (Easy Car Hire) at Pisa Airport
Date of Rental: April 30, 2025
Location: Pisa Airport
Deceptive Fees and Bait-and-Switch Tactics
What was supposed to be a €70 rental quickly became a nightmare. ECH charged me a €60 "late collection fee" (nearly doubling the price) for arriving at 22:10 instead of 22:00 - a fee never mentioned in my booking voucher.
Misleading Car Class
I booked a Skoda Fabia but received a significantly lower-quality Dacia Sandero. When questioned, staff claimed these were "comparable" vehicles despite the clear downgrade.
Safety Concerns Ignored
The "service required" warning light was illuminated from the moment I started the car. Staff dismissed my concerns, claiming no other vehicles were available, forcing me to drive a car that clearly needed maintenance.
Basic Functionality Missing
The windshield washer fluid was completely empty, making it impossible to clean the windshield while driving on dusty Tuscan roads - a significant safety issue.
Unprofessional Staff
The desk agent was rude, dismissive, and showed zero empathy for any of these legitimate concerns.
Bottom Line
This negative experience significantly impacted my Tuscan holiday. I selected ECH based on decent reviews, but strongly advise fellow travelers to choose ANY other rental company at Pisa Airport - whether cheaper or slightly more expensive. The hidden fees, substandard vehicles, and poor customer service make ECH a company to avoid at all costs.
Crooks
Avoid this company. They will find a way to scam you out of money. I booked through Autoeurope.com and was arriving in Pisa by train for a week. When I went to pick up the car at the airport I was told that my booking was not valid because I did not arrive by aeroplane. I paid more than three times the original amount. They gave me no paperwork whatsoever. I have never had such a bad car hire experience.
Really bad service
Really bad service, after you made the rent deal in the web side, you go to the location to pick up the car, and they come with a extras charges, at the end you will pay double that was offer in the site. the personal are very rude, they don't bring any solution and just try to made you pay the extras cost. Hope that I never have to deal with this company again.
Do NOT use this company
Do NOT use this company, they are unscrupulous with no customer service at all.
They cancelled our car rental because we had a delay and were 30 minutes late to collect our rental. They then tried to charge us 2.5 times the rental to hire a car we had already paid a deposit on which was sitting in their parking lot. Avoid at all costs!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, IT'S A SCAM.
The car that was given to us was in a very bad condition and full of dents. The initial review was not very thorough on their part but they went to great lengths to find the tiniest mark when we were returning the car - some so minute they could not be spotted from other angles / if the light fell differently and they were very keen to charge for those.
The rental is also very far from the airport and the shuttle bus is very infrequent so you are risking missing your flight.
DO NOT HIRE WITH THIS COMPANY
DO NOT HIRE WITH THIS COMPANY. They try to scam you at the end by charging you for microscopic pieces of damage that were present before you hired the car, but would have been next to impossible for you to identify in an initial inspection. Complete rip off merchants, go to a more honest, bigger branded company, even if they charge a bit more. The shuttle bus to get there is also very inconvenient, you could be waiting at least half an hour for it, more if lots of people are heading there
STAY AWAY FROM THESE ABSOLUTE THIEVES!
STAY AWAY FROM THESE ABSOLUTE THIEVES! They will change their rules / policy on the spot and insist on extra money to cover it. Awful, Awful Service
avoid-TOTAL SCAM
I rented a car from MG Car Rental S.R.L. (ECH Rentals) at Pisa Airport in April 2025. After returning the car in the same condition I received it — with visible hail damage including multiple small dents — I was shocked to see they attempted to charge my credit card €500 less than one hour later, without any explanation or evidence.
A day later, I received an email saying they would deduct €661 from my deposit for a “new dent on the roof.” That dent was identical in size and location to others already on the car — I even took photos at pickup of the roof damage.
They violated their own contract, which clearly states (Clause 1.4) that damage charges must be:
Sent via email with photos and a damage report
Subject to a 10-day dispute period before any charge
None of that happened. This is not just unfair — it’s legally questionable.
I’ve filed a formal complaint with ECC-Net and AGCM, Italy’s competition and consumer authority, and I’m pursuing a chargeback through my bank.
I strongly urge anyone renting from ECH at Pisa (or anywhere) to photograph everything and consider choosing a more reputable provider. They seem to target foreign tourists who are unlikely to return to dispute unfair charges.
This was by far the worst car rental experience I’ve had in Europe.
Avoid.
I was given a car with innumerable dents, scratches etc all over the car. I was then charged over 200 Euros for a barely perceptible dent on the bonnet of the car (which I suspect was there already, according to a photo I have of the car at the very first stop after leaving the rental place, but was missed, either on purpose or simply because the car had so many dents, scratches and scuffs). I was heavily pressured into taking an insurance which costs more than twice the rental itself. I didn't because I had an insurance policy already from a reputable company (AXA). I noticed that practically all of those who did not take their insurance had 'new damages' identified. In fact, both pickup and drop off took substantally longer than usual, even for Catania Airport (where I have rented before). Anyway - to avoid.
scammers
scammers, accused me of damage that was present before and even marked on the receipt report
Untrustworthy
Easycarhire (Pisa airport) sought to apply different rules to those contained in our original terms and conditions supplied by our broker. Upon collecting our vehicle, Easycarhire stated that the day of the return flight must coincide with the return of the hire car. In our case, our return flight occurred several days after our vehicle return. Easycarhire justified their request on the basis that the measure reduces any likelihood that the car will be stolen. In order to allow the hire to go ahead, they demanded that separate insurance would be taken out with them (85 EUR for 24 hours). Easycarhire was unable to produce any documentation to evidence any change in our original terms and conditions.
screwed over
Their business model it to try to find an unrecorded "mark" on the car when you return it and then debit an extortionate charge on your credit card. They stop answering correspondence and ignore a request for arbitration. That is why they offer a cheap headline rate. They then screw you over.
Avoid at all cost
if I could give no stars I would , was to collect in terminal and it's not but rather a 10min walk which took a while to figure out, but the worst is that they prey on people who don't realize their 2 hour policy i.e. if you don't collect within 2 hours of booking time they cancel the booking and then want 10x the price, this is not made clear when you so beware.
AVOID !!!!!!!
I rented a car Feb 13-18th. When I arrived to get it I was told that I needed an international driver's license. Without it I would have to pay 20 Eu/day. Here are their conditions:
When picking up your rental car, you will need the following documents (all in the name of the main driver):
Passport or ID card
Driving license
Credit card
Voucher
Nothing about international driving license for Canadian/US citizens. Why not mention for driving license: some exceptions apply ?
OK - later it's there: U.S. and Canadian citizens must produce a driver's license and international driver's license. My mistake....BUT:
This condition is always there and in about 10 other EU countries I was never asked for it.
The man at the desk told me that in Italy IT IS a requirement. Is it true or not ? If it's true - how could I get a car by paying a fee ?
I asked the next 3 closest desks and all of them told me - there was no such a requirement in Italy and they would have been happy to give me a car. (Eventually 1 of them did.)
So was I told the truth ?
AVOID THIS COMPANY …
Collecting Keys at Pisa airport took ages. Tried to make us have snow chains at 10 euros a day knowing it is a mandatory requirement in Italy and to sign a waiver if you don’t take them. They charged 13 euro for some kind of booking fee which I still can’t work out what it was for. The car was dirty and not full of petrol as it should have been. They marked issues on paper which we did not get a copy of. On drop off one mark hadn’t been recorded and we felt like criminals (we knew 100% we hadn’t made a mark on the car). Luckily we took multiple photos and videos at pick up (because collecting keys and going round the car took so long). Eventually the man decided he would sign off the car when we showed him our evidence but he was not happy. I suspect he makes money from this as does the check in woman who tried to make us pay the extra insurance. Poor experience and caused a lot of stress to what was otherwise a lovely time in Italy.

I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO…
I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. I BOOKED ONLINE WITH THEM TO HIRE A CAR FROM OR THAMBO AND TO DROP IT OFF AT SECUNDA. - (avis car hire) They asked for flight no. Etc.. And then booked and paid.... I immediately saw that the pick up point was at Grand Central Airport, 44 kms from OR Thambo and I immediately contacted them to change the pick up point and they wanted me to pay in R570.00, the same amount as hiring the car. I then chatted to them on WhatsApp and stated that this was unfair and this is the reply they sent me. DO THEY THINK I'M STUPID. So then it is a penalty of R 1263.00
Their reply to me below.
I Have found another offer with Budget, Pick up at OR Tambo and Drop off at Secunda, it is the same car category you had before, the final price is 537.09 ZAR, as you had previously paid 559.50 ZAR, We will just charge you the difference between both amounts, which is 13.59 ZAR. Should I provide you with he details for the offer? Please note that, as we are trying to rebook the reservation within 48 hours before the pick-up
time, unfortunately, there will be late amendment fees of ZAR1263.00 applying,
according to the supplier's terms & conditions. Will that be okay?
I am now forced to change my plans and it will be an extra cost to get a lift to Grand Central Airport.
Where is the compassion and help... It is a rip off....If I did not contact them immediately after seeing the error of Pick up point I understand...there are terms and conditions.... But it is an error on their website not booking car at the correct pick up point. BEWARE OF THEM AND RATHER DEAL DIRECTLY WITH AVIS.
