Scam scam scam
Scam scam scam - had to pay 450 Euros instead of the 53 showed on CHECK24. Claimed they do not accept my credit card to charge us 100 insurance + 300 deposit. Shame on ECH and also on check24 for working with them.
Please stay away
Please stay away, scammer alert!!
We were charged 850€ for a alleged chipped windshield but there was no damage when we left.
They misinform you in all kinds of ways and even charge you without permission.
Same non refund experience as Bakker of NL
I have the same experience as Bakker of NL. I rented a car from 30 Aug to 8 September and prepaid insurance. At the airport I did not have a credit card for their security and had to pay for a local Italian insurance for which they took €300 deposit. I still have not been refunded although they claim they have. The airport desk refers to customerservice at easycarhire.it or phone +390924529150. However despite 3 emails and over 10 attempted phone calls they never answer the phone or respond to the email. They are not able to show bank to bank MT103 for swift payment nor any tracing number to enable bank to bank check despite claiming to have made the refund on 13 Sep at11:04. I have now sent hard copy by registered post as well as complaint to Guarda di finanza the Italian financial police.

Charged € 35 for 'extra valeting' for a small amounty of mud on the bottom of the car following heavy rain on the roads. This would have come off very easily when washing the car.
The time spent checking the car on return compared to the rush at collection gave the clear impression that the goal was to find something they could charge for .
Avoid this company! Far from airport, terrible customer service, rip off with hidden costs!!
Avoid this company!
When booking, I thought it was a company at the airport, but instead we had to wait 30mins for a shuttle from the airport to a house in a nearby suburb. I booked through AutoEurope, but in fact, they are a middle-man company - this was not clear when booking.
On arrival, we were told that the additional insurance I had paid for with AutoEurope was invalid for EasyCareHire, and they heavily encouraged me to take out the extra insurance, citing scare stories about the risk of having my car keyed or other such dangers on the Sicilian roads. The additional insurance was an additional 140 Euro for 5 days! Extortionate.
The car itself was fine.
On returning the car, we were accused by the staff of losing the "hat rack", by which they meant parcel shelf. Our car rental did not have one when we collected it, but we had no proof of this, and their inventory had marked that it was in the car. The male staff was very accusatory, saying I'd have to pay to replace something we never had, implying that I was lying. We waited 25min whilst they checked their system, to find that indeed the parcel shelf was lost before our rental. We received no apology for their error, the accusations, or time wasted. Instead the rude male staff inspected every inch of the car to find some way to charge us. It felt vindictive. He found a very small scratch on the scratch plastic wheel trim (2cm!! barely visible), claiming it must have been us, and again said I would have to pay, that the expensive additional insurance would not cover it. I have since received an invoice and credit card charged 80 Euro for the "replacement of the wheel trim". Judging from the state of the cars, this will not be replaced and this is a money-making scheme for the rental company.
The male staff checking the car was rude and punitive. Even other customers who witnessed this commented that he was additionally rude to us (two women).
The overall car hire cost was far higher in money and time that I thought. I thought AutoEurope was a reputable company, but we were left with rude conmen at EasyCarHire instead. It left us stressed and with a bad taste at the end of what was an otherwise very nice holiday.
Avoid this company.
Just to even out the ratings, we had no problems at all
Just to even out the ratings, our experience was great it's true the girls at the check-in aren't the most polite but the car was good and no problems when returning the vehicle. Would recommend but make sure you have excess protection for peace of mind.

Definitely avoid this company
Definitely avoid this company !
First you may have to wait 45 minutes at the airport before a shuttle can bring you to the quite far location of the agency.
Then at the counter, they will pretend your VISA PREMIER card is not accepted, because it's a "debit" and not "credit" card, even if it's not mentioned on their contract.
As you have no choice, they will force you to subscribe an additional insurance (520 € for 6 days !!) and to pay a 500 € deposit.
Finally, the deposit is refund to yo after 2 weeks !
In conclusion, maybe the MAFIA is handling this "company".
Any other choice is probably better.
Awful - Do not use this company!
Awful! They tried to scam us at every opportunity. If I could give 0 stars I would. We booked them as the hire was so cheap but I will never do this again.
They tried to add on extra insurance and cover even though we had already paid for this. Our credit cards were not accepted for some reason, when they offered debit card they increased the deposit to thousands for a 2 day hire. When we refused they changed it to 400 and kept changing this until we completely refused. They then tried to charge us a fee because we didn't want to use their services, which we argued as the booking said there was no fee to cancel.
We were practically having a full on argument with the staff and they were so rude to us and made us feel so uncomfortable.
Do not use this company.
we rented a car from ech via…
we rented a car from ech via skyscanner. upon arrival our credit card did not work according to ech! (it worked and still works at every other company). we therefore had to pay a lot more money via a roundabout route and €300 extra for petrol and other things. the €300 would be refunded within 10 working days upon returning the car. unfortunately after 5 weeks we still have not received anything and they refer us to an email address that no one responds to. I would advise anyone not to rent a car there. soon we will fly to Pisa again and we will personally try to get our money back
DON'T DO IT !! Rude Scammers and Fraudsters
Don't use this company !!!!!!!!!!!
It's not worth it, better spend a few more euros for a solid and honest company.
Their costumer representatives when picking up the car are very rude and disrespectful to ALL clients at the desk.
Picking up the car in Catania Airport at 10pm you are sent to an obscure dark area of the rental parking lot where you have to pick up your car in low light conditions. If you ask for better lighting conditions for taking photos of the vehicle they tell you; "You can come back tomorrow morning to take pictures".
The amount of scratches and dents is impossible to document, something you can only find out the next day and even in full daylight the dents and scratches are uncountable.
The tires have no profile what so ever. The tires start slipping on small hills and the car is super dangerous at wet conditions.
The lights at the dashboard notifying you the car is in need of immediate maintenance is on continuously.
On returning the car, early in the morning they stall the return process by filling out other documents in their rental booth and other activities that have nothing to do with you returning the vehicle.
They claimed damage at a spot that was clearly marked by them at the rental agreement when i picked up the car.
I made them aware of this, that the damage they pointed out was already there when i picked up the car and was marked on the pick up form.
Days after concluding my business with them they email me with a damage claim on a totally different spot on the car.
The rental vehicle has so much damages on all sides and areas of the car so damages can be found easily by the rental company wherever they want.
I havent caused any damage to the car whatsoever and if i would have i wouldn't have any reason to deny it.
I rented the car through DoYouItaly (good company!) and have full insurance on everything through this company, so in the end it will not cost me anything.
Spare yourself an unpleasant experience in dealing with this company and please don't enable this company to scam other companies and people by renting from them.
Scammers
Don’t book they will try to sell you an insurance with a price above the total price of your rental and when you will give back the car they will try to find anything possible to charge you back ending saying to you that all ok you can sign and after you will be carged with fees you didn’t validate. They are scammers. They shame Italy and Sicily by perpetuating the cliché that you will be ripped off. This company shouldn’t exist anymore.
AVOID AT ALL CASE
AVOID AT ALL CASE! The story begins with the counter very pushy in trying to sell us extra insurance. When we said no, we were told with a malicious undertone. If you rent a car so cheaply, you have to make extra money. So far, so understandable. When the car had been rented for a €750 deposit and we had almost reached our destination, the on-board computer came on and said that it was overdue for a workshop check and that an oil change was necessary. The next day, the on-board computer issued a warning to park the car immediately: low oil pressure. After several unsuccessful calls and hotlines, someone finally called back in English, and we were given a road assistance number. After describing the problem, we were told that the oil would not be topped up, but that the entire car would be towed away. We were promised a taxi ride back to the airport. The mechanic grinned as he checked the oil level for the third time and only the very last part was covered in oil. Since it was not clear at this point whether and when a taxi would come, everything else took its course: we were not given a note or anything else - and we did not take any more pictures of the entire car (fun part ahead). The broker at home had his hands tied; we were told to get everything else signed and submitted. The taxi came and we were taken to the airport. On site we were informed that a further deposit of €750 was due for the second car. Visibly irritated, we were informed that they did not know anything about the whereabouts of the car and even dared to suggest that it could be our fault. The photos of the evidence of the advert were met with disinterest - we had misinterpreted the advert. Since we did not have a car, we reluctantly paid the second deposit - because it was just on the verge of being understandable. Over the course of the week we repeatedly tried to find out what had happened to the first car: no answer from the road service, only automatic replies from ech. Returning the second car went smoothly at first. Then we were told that the road assistance had information about the first car and that the compressor for the tire repair kit was missing (oh really!). This would cost €50, and ultimately €70. The man at the rental station tried to make a level-headed impression, but kept coming up with new excuses as to why one thing had to work like this or why it had to be solved like this. In summary: we were sent off with too little oil in the car and at the end of the odyssey we had to pay €70 for a missing compressor in the car, which we only saw once when we rented it. Too scam to be funny. Oh yes: plus the €1500 deposit for two cars. There was only a document for the second car because the process for the first car had not yet been fully completed and its fate was in the trustworthy hands of ech. Unbelievable! HANDS OFF.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
An absolute sham of a company, if I could give minus stars I would have.
No customer care or support what so ever.
They abandoned my wife at the airport as the shuttle bus couldn't be bothered to collect her late at night.
She had to use another hire company to get her to her destination.
She returned the following day to return the borrowed hire car and collect her original rental from Sleazy Car Hire only to be told she was late on collecting so they have cancelled the 10 day rental.
Be warned, this company are scum!
Shocking service and deposit scam!
We booked a car rental through Auto Europe for our recent trip to Pisa for a wedding and was greeted at the Easycarhire rental desk by a woman at 9:30pm Thursday 3rd October 2024. Upon producing all documents, Drivers Licence and Credit card for the booking the woman returned the credit card stating that they could not accept credit cards with an expiration date within 3 months time. I then produced the email from Auto Europe stating that a credit card must be used for a deposit, which had nothing to state that the expiry of the credit card had to be after 3 months from the current date, all it said that was credit or debit cards could be used. I then produced an AMEX card to be used for the deposit hold, to which she rudely replied "we don't accept AMEX cards" - again, no mention anywhere on your site or booking that this was the case. We then had a friend travelling with us who offered to use their credit card for the deposit, and was again met with a rude response from the desk assistant that we couldn't use any credit card not owned by the named driver.
After a frustrating exchange and again very rude and unhelpful service from the desk attendant, she said the only option would be to use a debit card, to which we had no other choice. She did forget to mention that in order to use a debit card we would have to pay a deposit of €515 on top of the €70 we had already paid for the car and fully comprehensive insurance. She then stated that we would received €300 back from the deposit, but that €215 would be to cover the "insurance" of the deposit.
What I could not believe that was for a €70 car hire for 4 days, that we then had to pay an extra €215 for "insurance" for using a debit card, when in none of your terms or email correspondence about credit cards, did it mention that one of your suppliers would not accept an AMEX card or that the credit card had to be in my name and with an expiry date after 3 months from the date. This is clearly a scam to allow ECH to charge considerably more on the car rental than initially paid for/offered, which is a shocking and unprofessional way to do business. We are frustrated that a business such as Auto Europe works with suppliers such as these, that clearly scam people going on vacation out of money that was saved and needed for the holiday.
The experience which took over 1hr to complete was a shocking start to our holiday, made worse by the lack of assistance and rude nature of the assistant at EasyCarHire.
Scammers
Scammers. They will charge you more money. Common credit cards are not accepted and they will charge more money than the cost of the car itself.
The guy tried to charge us for an…
The guy tried to charge us for an aerial missing - lucky I'd taken a photo the night of taking the rental which showed no aerial.
Clearly a scam to try and get more pounds off you! Naughty - spend an age trying to find ANY fault with the car!
I would never hire a rental car from…
I would never hire a rental car from this company again. I paid extra at the beginning of my holiday for insurance . This meant my excess would only be €300 in the event of an incident . The very first day my car had a mechanical failure. I had to pull over . I contacted Easy Car who suggested I drive the car ( carefully!) to the nearest office which was over 2 hours away in Palermo. I refused and Eventually the car was recovered but I then had to make my own way via recovery vehicle , train trip and taxi to their office to get another vehicle . They never once offered to cover the costs and never once offered to drop a vehicle off . I lost €120 in expenses and a whole day of my holiday . I am now fighting to get my excess back as they have charged this to my credit card , but instead of the agreed €300 ( which I shouldn’t have to pay anyway !!!) they have charged me €1500. I have sent numerous emails to the supposed customer service email and rang their supposed telephone number 10 times with no response . DO NOT USE THis COMPANY WHATSOEVER !!
A disaster from start to finish
A disaster from start to finish. Initially the staff on the desk tried to get us to pay for their insurance although I already had extra cover. The guy at the collection area was disinterested & did not note all damage ro the car already present. We were subsequently charged over €700 for small scratches on 2 wheel trims and damage to sill that was already noted on their own document and shown on photos when we picked it up. Not sure if is poor communication skills on their part but responses to our emails were appalling and we were still charged. Never again
