I had a fantastic experience

I had a fantastic experience with Eclipse Car Sales. From start to finish, Tom and the whole team were amazing. They were friendly, professional, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process.

Tom took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I felt comfortable and confident with my purchase. There was no pressure at all, just honest advice and great customer service. The team made everything smooth and straightforward, and I really appreciated how welcoming and supportive they were.

I’m extremely happy with my car and the overall experience. I would highly recommend Eclipse Car Sales to anyone looking for a reliable vehicle and excellent service. Thank you to Tom and the whole team for making it such a positive experience!

Good buying experience

This was a good experience of buying car, not my favourite thing to do. We were left to browse and make our own decisions without any pressure at all. Very helpful staff, there to answer any questions when needed. The company was in the process of moving premises but there was no feeling of any chaos or anything. Gave me faith in buying a car again. Would definitely use again one day and would recommend for their care.

Please be Please be extremely wary when buying from Eclipse Car Sales

Please be extremely wary when buying from Eclipse Car Sales.

We visited Eclipse in early March 2025 and test‑drove a Skoda Kodiaq that the salesperson recommended. The car itself was lovely and well looked after, and although it didn’t quite meet our needs, a deal was agreed on the basis that Eclipse would install a tow bar, fit a reversing camera, and carry out a full service before collection.
Unfortunately, this is where everything fell apart. I cannot overstate how poor the workmanship of their workshop is.

1. In‑house workshop issues
The work took longer than promised, and when we finally collected the car it was riddled with error messages. At times it wouldn’t drive at all. The reversing camera didn’t work either.
Eclipse then admitted they did not have the correct software to calibrate the camera. They booked the car into Skoda several weeks later.

2. Skoda’s findings – and a £719.64 bill
Skoda inspected the vehicle and confirmed that Eclipse’s attempt to calibrate the camera using incorrect software had corrupted the vehicle’s systems. Skoda had to completely reinstall the Skoda software and correctly calibrate the camera.
Despite Eclipse being the ones who booked the appointment, Skoda charged £719.64 on collection.
Eclipse then refused to reimburse the cost, even though the work was required solely to fix the damage caused by their own workshop. They then changed their minds and attempted to negotiate down what they would pay. Nearly a year later, no reimbursement has been made.

3. The “3‑year warranty” that isn’t what it seems

At the point of sale, Eclipse sold me a 3‑year warranty and 3‑year servicing package for £1,495.00, supposedly through Opteven.
However, when I recently tried to make a claim for a failed (and very expensive) sensor, Opteven informed me that they are only an agent — the warranty fund is actually owned and controlled by Eclipse Cars themselves.
This means Eclipse decide whether claims are approved.
Unsurprisingly, they rejected the claim.
So the “third‑party warranty” is not truly third‑party at all, and in my case has proven completely worthless.

4. Hidden costs and zero accountability
Between Skoda repairing Eclipse’s mistakes (£719.64) and the ineffective “warranty” (£1,495.00), I am out of pocket by £2,214.64 — with nothing to show for it.
I also no longer trust their in‑house workshop to carry out servicing, meaning the “3‑year servicing” included in the £1,495.00 is effectively unusable.

Final thoughts
If you are considering buying from Eclipse Car Sales, please keep all of this in mind.
Budget for additional repair bills from reputable garages, and think very carefully before purchasing their so‑called third‑party warranty or relying on their workshop for anything beyond basic tasks.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend their warranty offering, or their in‑house workshop.

Hello Nick,

I'm sorry to hear that you're not happy with the service you've received, but I do hope you're enjoying the Kodiaq.

I have been reviewing your statement of events with my colleagues and looking at correspondence with you at the time.

I can see that we had booked your car with Skoda to calibrate the front camera, as only main dealerships possess the software and hardware to do this.
The cost of this was £350, which we had agreed to cover the cost of, and we would pay Skoda directly for this
You sent an email to us saying that while with Skoda, they identified some other optional work which you were happy to cover the cost of as it did not fall within usual used car preparation standards.
You then paid Skoda for all works carried-out and approached us asking for us to cover the extra works as well as the camera calibration, which sadly we could not.

Our warranty is a "listed item" warranty, where there is a very long list of parts on the car which are covered, but sadly your DPF Matter Sensor was not covered. This part is very rarely covered by used car warranties, nor any other part of the DPF system.
Opteven used to manage warranty claims for us, however we have now brought this in-house so that we can manage claims directly.
Now in the event of a claim not being covered by warranty, we can still carry out the repair for customers at cost pricing to make sure that customers pay the lowest price possible and are not inconvenienced.

Warranty claims can still be carried out by third party garages if so required for convenience or any other reason.

I am conscious that we do indeed still owe you the £350 for the camera calibration, please can you reach-out to me via email at tom@eclipsecarsales.co.uk so that I can arrange this?

Very Best Wishes,
Tom Gibson

Poor attitude to after sales service - Avoid

Where to start? Eclipse kind of redeemed themselves a bit, but not to the extent that anything other than a 1-star review is appropriate as far as I'm concerned. I fully expect Roy, Eclipse's owner to reply to this accusing me of some sort of "attack" on his business, as it seems Eclipse love to push people in to reviewing them.....as long as they're all positive reviews (God forbid anyone should dare give a 1-star review for a poor service!). Potential customers can view their own opinion, but I'll just say, I wouldn't have spent so long writing a poor review were I not passionate about good, honest customer service, and hate people being victim of poor customer service (and being lied to).

So Eclipse Car Sales then; Some lovely cars in stock, and other customers are clearly very happy with purchases that have gone to plan and cars which are in good order. Eclipse has sorted the issues below, to what appears to be a decent(ish) standard, without quibbling, and instead accepting responsibility. As with all things though, it’s often too little, too late.

I bought a BMW Z4 from Ryan at Eclipse Car Sales (ECS) at a cost of around £11,000 (not as much as a lot of what they sell, but still), and on the drive home I noticed the washers weren't working. I called ECS as soon as I got home and was told they'd order a couple of new washer jets. Fine, this stuff happens. Anyway, I took the opportunity to have the car thoroughly checked over at a garage, and found the following faults in addition to the washer fault;

• O/S/R tyre was illegal, with cord exposed (kicking myself I didn’t noticed this before purchase)
• O/S/F brake hose was worn with cord showing
• Two oil leaks
• N/S/F door mirror wouldn't electronically fold

The items were found on a car which apparently had a pre-delivery inspection carried out by ECS's own workshop prior to me collecting it, and the MoT having been passed a few months prior (at a place called Taj Autos?), but vitally, still only about 80 miles priorto when I bought the car (with no advisories). I raised this with Ryan who all of a sudden became less amenable, bordering on dismissive and a tad passive aggressive (I guess he had my £11k so I was less important now?). Ryan was fobbing me off with utter rubbish about the tyre having worn (losing about 6mm of tread in 80 miles) since the MoT, and the washers blocking up randomly too (I'm not sure if he simply didn't understand the mileage Vs date of the MoT, or if he genuinely just thought I came down in the last shower and would just accept his argument?). No Ryan, the car was given an MoT at Taj Autos, by a blind tester, and the car was then sitting on your forecourt until I bought it.

Fast-forward a few days and we have finally arranged to book the car in, although not to suit me, but ECS and their workload, forcing me to hire a car at cost of around £300 for the week I had it (at my own cost!). I approached Ryan to request I was reimbursed for the hire car cost, but in no uncertain terms was told they wouldn't be reimbursing me, as I chose to rent a car, even though they offered me a courtesy car (they did offer me a courtesy car, but not for about 2 weeks, and I needed the car for work). Ryan also said he had to "put other customers off" to fit me in, which is frankly rubbish, as the car ended up being repaired the same date as he initially wanted to book me in for based on not having a courtesy car from them. After a few days I received the car back, which has been repaired, and (as I requested due to the tread imbalance), two new rear tyres, however, the car handled like a supermarket trolley; At first I put this down to the new tyres being budget tyres, but I figured I'd take some air out of them, as I was sure they'd be set higher, being Extra Load bearing tyres. To my astonishment, they were set to 61psi (standard is between 36 and 41 for these tyres on the rear). Not sure why any competent mechanic would deem this acceptable?

To add to this inconvenience, I've yet to receive the V5c (logbook) for the car, which Ryan assures me he sent off via the post (rather than doing it online when he taxed the car when I was there? - maybe this is something traders have to do, so I won't hold that against him). I'm told it can take 4 to 6 weeks, which I understand, but I've bought and sold over 40 cars, and have until now, only ever waited a week or so?

To summarise; The car shouldn't have been sold in the state it was, irrespective of ECS rectifying the faults found. I made it clear to ECS that if they didn't fix all the problems then I'd be rejecting the car in exchange for a full refund.

I would urge anyone who purchased from ECS to do so using a credit card or debit card, for the extra protection.

Hands down the worst experience ever !

Hands down the worst car buying experience of my life. Eclipse Car Sales sold me a 72-reg Range Rover costing over £70,000 and it has been nothing but problems from day one. The vehicle has multiple electrical and mechanical faults that they simply cannot fix.

They have collected the car on two separate occasions and had it for almost four weeks in total, yet the issues remain unresolved. Despite admitting they cannot rectify the problems, they are now refusing to take the vehicle back. I am effectively stuck with an expensive, unreliable car that is not fit for purpose.

The aftercare is absolutely appalling. The representative I dealt with, Ryan, is rude, condescending and extremely passive aggressive. Instead of taking responsibility, he speaks down to you and treats legitimate concerns like an inconvenience. Customer service at this level is shocking, especially when dealing with a so-called premium dealership.

While my Range Rover was with them, I was given a 10-year-old Skoda as a courtesy car which turned out to be unsafe. One of the tyres blew out twice, putting me in genuinely dangerous situations and leaving me fearing for my safety. The fact that this was considered an acceptable courtesy vehicle says everything about their standards.

It’s honestly unbelievable that after spending over £70k, this is the level of service and care provided. No accountability, no urgency, no concern for safety, and absolutely no meaningful aftercare.

I regret buying from Eclipse Car Sales and would strongly advise anyone considering them to stay well away. Save yourself the stress, wasted time, and potential danger. Avoid at all costs.

Hello Andrew,

Nice to speak with you on the phone, I'm sorry that the Range Rover you bought has a fault.

Let me be clear that we are, and have always been committed to rectifying this.

We have upgraded the Skoda to the Jaguar F-Pace S that you requested which I hope you enjoy while the Range Rover is being fixed.
I can assure you that the 2019 Skoda Superb that we leant you is totally safe to drive and passed an MOT with zero advisory items upon its return.

The Range Rover is now with our local Land Rover dealership for inspection and rectification. They have asked me to pass on my apologies to you for the fault re-occurring after we commissioned them to look at it previously for you.

As I said on the phone, if there's anything at all you need going forward, please contact me directly.
Best Regards
Tom

Best car sales I have ever been to

This is the 2nd car I have purchased from Eclipse. I bought a Range Rover Evoque and there were a couple of minor problems such as central locking and gear selector, These were sorted out quickly and efficiently .I had the car back today and everything was absolutely perfect. If you are thinking of buying a used car the stock is of very good standard. All of the staff, Roy,Tom,Paul,James and Ryan went out of their way to make the sale enjoyable,
I will not hesitate in recommending this company.
Thank you so much all of you.

What a shocking experience buying a car…

What a shocking experience buying a car from these guys. From the start just lies and more lies about the whereabouts of the logbook for the car. In the end had to apply for a new log book. Which I still havnt received nearly 6 weeks later.

Yes I have the logbook now. That doesn't make everything ok from all the lies at the point if sale. The 1 star rating is not unfair at all. It is justified

There's alot of companies out there that deserve a 1 star reveiw and this is one of them

Dear Andrew,
I can see that at the time of writing you have left 25 reviews for sellers. All 1 star “shocking” reviews.
We have just checked the DVLA system and we can see that you have already assigned your private plate and you have therefore actually already received the registration document a few days ago, which we are pleased to hear.
It was frustrating that a V62 document had to be used due to the previous owner of the car not assigning the car to ourselves in the correct way, but I can assure you that it was handled in the correctly, in a timely fashion and that we did not lie at any point of the process.
Paul kept you up to date from start to finish and even sent you copies of the documents and proof of postage at the time of processing the paperwork with the DVLA.
Ultimately we are glad that the V5C has landed with you, but we do feel it is unfair that you've left us a one star review despite Paul having gone above and beyond during the process of looking after getting this sorted for you.
Best Regards
Eclipse Car Sales.

Broke down after a week

After plenty of contact and putting down a deposit, drop 2.5hours to see car, had management light on so got in writing they would fix any faults. Had the car a week but was away so hardly drove it. On way home car making all sorts of noises, once home checked and major engine issues. Oil and fluids everywhere in engine bay. AA out and told to get as far away from the car as possible as major issue. Returned and got a full refund. Only reason I gave 2 star and not 0 is because the refunded me without any arguments just took a bit to sort of return of vehicle as I was so far away.
Something tells me they knew something was up with van but I will never know that. Always a risk buying second hand cars but I won’t return
