Terrible experience. Conveyancer was impossible to get hold of, they missed the exchange and completion dates and wouldn't withdraw my funds from the help to buy ISA. This caused a huge amount of stress and financial issues throughout the chain.

I cannot thank Sarah and Abbie of EHL Solicitors enough for their exemplary service during our conveyancing matter.

Sarah was our lead conveyancer who really drove the whole process, extremely proactive and diligent, I truly believe we would have had a very different and lengthy experience if it wasn't for her.

In the past I have not had much to do with solicitors but at the end of April this year, I found myself facing, what to me, was complex family related legal matters. I remembered that my daughter had used a local solicitor’s firm, Edward Hand & Lewis, based in Syston, Leicestershire. I asked her opinion and she said she had been very satisfied with the solicitors and other members of the staff she dealt with and that is was very convenient to have local.
I phoned the Syston branch and asked for someone to contact me and gave them some basic information of what I was needing. I received a phone call from Lisa. I explained over the phone the main points I needed advice about and also what would the approximate cost be. As we spoke, I found her to be approachable, understanding, and easy to talk to. I received an email the same day outlining the probable costs of the areas I needed help with. The next day I had made my mind up and I phoned to arrange a meeting with Lisa D as soon as possible. During that 2nd phone call Lisa asked me to start to get certain documents together and to bring them to our first meeting. That same day she sent me an email confirming what she had asked for. We met shortly afterwards. Unlike other solicitors I've had meetings with Lisa explained matters in a way that I could understood. I didn't have to keep asking "what did that mean". Shortly after our first meeting I confirmed that I wanted to instruct Edward Hand & Lewis as my solicitors. We had periodic meetings, interspersed with phone calls, letters, and emails and she would always confirm what we had agreed to do back to me, usually the next working day. At every stage Lisa gave me advice, examples and options leaving it to me to make the final decision. Lisa always had the clients needs at heart. I don’t want to leave out the other staff members I spoke to or met at the Syston branch. They were helpful, understanding and ensured any messages or documentation I left with them were passed on promptly to the appropriate person.
I have no hesitation in recommending Edward Hand & Lewis, Syston branch to deal with your legal problems.

I used them 2 years ago when I purchased my second house. The work I paid for included a house purchase and changing a mortgage to a buy-to-let.

I originally used EHL because I thought it would be a much better experience due to the use of an online portal as I am in the Royal Navy and am away for long periods.

But I dealt with different people so there was never consistency or a relationship built, I had multiple bits of paperwork lost but we got there in the end. So I thought!

Fast forward 2 years and I am remortgaging my buy-to-let only to be told from the new solicitors that there is still a pending application through Land Registry so they cannot proceed until it is dealt with.

After contacting HM Land Registry they stated it was an application from EHL. I contacted EHL to find out they've split and have changed there name, also that I'm not on the system, but I would need to speak to the post completion team who are an external team (they do not have a contact number.) They have taken days to reply to an email and are selective on what they respond to leaving many questions unanswered as to why I am in this situation.

I am now having to redo documents I had done 2 years ago!! I was never contacted that HM Land Registry had rejected there application from errors made by EHL or Arrow Conveyancing what ever name they are working from!

This is now holding up the remortgage of my buy-to-let through the lack of competence, care and professionalism from them.
