Terrible customer service
Wish I could give 0 stars. Called for a quote to replace a fuse socket which had blew out. Lady on the phone was incredibly rude, stated that they charge £135.00 per hour which is insane. I said thank you for the quote and before I had any chance to ask any more questions she'd hung up the phone! Do not recommend
I will report them for possible fraud
There is no way to describe it, they are robbers thieves .the electrician was ok and a nice guy but this company took fr me £414 for an garden socket . They said 135 plus materials but they used two plastic sockets and a plastic pipe to hide the cable is that worth £279 he bought it from screw fix and that's cheap!!!!
Thieves !!!!!!! And they don't answer the phone at customer care !!!! Be aware run away from this company!!!!
confirmation vs no show
called them or a simple job on day 1 got a CONFIRMATION for 8-12 window for next day. 1:30, no-one shows up, no call. Wrote and got a call at 2- 'can I wait til 4?" Yes, I said and got another appointment confirmation. Til I get a call saying no-one is coming.
In what sense is the word confirmation used? In what universe do you get to waste an entire day of my time and no show me. I regret ever asking for the help, but not to worry, as none was forthcoming
Wished I'd seen these reviews 6 weeks…
Wished I'd seen these reviews 6 weeks ago. After several failed attempts at turning up and a promise to have all the work done by a set date, they have finally admitted that they can't do the jobs. So, I've wasted 6 weeks and a new kitchen is due in a few weeks but the electrics are not ready!! Don't waste your time with their empty promises.
Avoid, avoid, avoid
Avoid. Read these reviews and then go elsewhere! Arranged an engineer to come between 9am and 1pm, at 2pm I got a call to say the engineer had been in a crash and they would let me know ASAP when he would arrive. I heard nothing until 8pm when I got a call asking if the work had been completed to my satisfaction! Needless to say I cancelled and went elsewhere.
Well I should have checked the Trustpilot reviews
Well I should have checked the Trustpilot reviews. Searched on Yell for an electrician local to my area, ERG came up with the area telephone number and led me to believe that they were from our area. Well they are Not, they are based in Southend. They took a payment up front from my credit card and promised to turn up the following morning, then the afternoon, then the next morning then the next afternoon then the next morning after that. You get the picture. So be aware of misleading advertising as other reviews have said, and don't pay any money up front. After looking at other reviews on here I cannot see how they have so many stars on there website.
Don't trust what you see on ERG wesite
Where do they get this data from? Looking at Trustpilot reviews it makes no sense.
"We only send NICEIC, PART-P & NAPIT Registered Engineers. With over 4500 5 Star Reviews, you can trust us to get all of your Electrical issues sorted fast and stress-free." Quote from the website.
They promised to come on Monday and even said that they may come early. We got a phone call after waiting for 2 hours saying that they are not turning up. I should have smelt a rat because when I booked them a confirmatory email that was promised never arrived. Totally untrustworthy company.
Awful company took debit card details…
Awful company took debit card details at time of booking, needed a new built in oven to be directly wired they were at my property for 1 hour and 5 minutes supplied a socket and back box and then took £541 from our account, Electrician told them he was here for 3 hours. They charge £135 per hour. Be warned
Very disappointed with this company
Very disappointed with this company. We had to call them out to sort out the same issue in 2 weeks and despite saying we would only be charged if it was a completely different issue we were charged the full call out fee again. I would not recommend their service and we will never be using them again.
ERG Google Guaranteed????
This is to all you unlucky customers out there that have been victims to this company. When you search for the services of an electrician, plumber, lock smith, pest control amongst others you will be faced with ERG at the top of the table on page 1 of google. Now if we take you back a couple of years you would notice that companies like these would be filled with their adverts above map searches and small business advertising, with their huge budgets and multiple websites covering all areas of the uk placing them at a advantage point getting all the work and small businesses picking up the scraps. AND THEN Goggle came up with the Google Guarantee, (or local service ads as they call it, very big in America) now this is great for small businesses because after a Google vetting process places the small businesses right at the top of page 1 and subsequently pushing all the other ads further down the page. Now the idea of this service is for local businesses covering local areas. ERG are claiming to be local when in fact based in Southend but have included every area in the uk using multiple Google accounts giving the impression they are local to that area, so for what reason, well if their website listing has been pushed down the page out of view then then enquiries would be less and so would their income. But part of the vetting process is to have valid insurance in place but if you book an engineer from ERG the insurance only covers THEM NOT the sub contractor that comes to your house therefore it may be questionable that the contractor is insured or even qualified at all, as these are not vetted by Google, the worry is you the customer do not know who is coming to your door. Now let’s get back to the Google Guarantee, (GG) if you book this company through the GG this enables you to claim your money back from Google under the terms of the GG, so rather than trying to claim a refund from ERG which is highly unlikely judging by the following reviews get it from google instead, if enough people complain Goggle will remove them from the listing and do us all a favour. We run a small electrical contracting business covering the Midlands and have noticed a considerable reduction in calls since this company has been listed, we have already complained to Google and as yet still waiting for a reply.
I can report the same appalling service…
I can report the same appalling service
I telephoned on Monday 14th March booked an electrician for same day engineer would arrive between 9.00am and1.00pm same day. At 11.05 gent phoned to say they could not come until Wednesday 16th same time. I accepted this because it is very difficult to get any trades to respond. No one came and by 12.30 I telephoned to ask if they were definitely coming. I was assured the booking
was in place. At 1.00pm a young lady telephoned to
ask how the meeting had gone. No one had turned
up! She said she would check and ring back. She did ring back with a cock and bull story that there had been a mistake and the booking had been made
for the following Wednesday. I told her that this could not be so because I had telephoned earlier and checked that my booking was in place and was assured that it was.
After reading reviews I realise that you should not
trust this company.
completely unreliable - do not use
Woke up with no electricity, found Erg online, spoke to a man who told me initially that someone would be out before midday and then contacted me to say that in fact it would not be until 5 and then after 3 told me in fact they couldnt get someone out for a week - false advertising on their website as they do not provide reliable same day call out and let you down at the last minute
£186 for a 10 minute visit
£186 for a 10 minute visit to tell us that we need to replace a part. No work done. Do not go through this company. They charge double and pocket half.
All good experience for me 👍🏻 I had…
All good experience for me 👍🏻 I had no idea about changing a light 💡 there were so many different colour wires ! So they sent someone super quick for a fair price 👍🏻
Had electrician round as trip switch…
Had electrician round as trip switch would not go back up. He showed up said he had fixed problem. What he had actually done is left the wiring in our loft in a very dangerous state. We since have had our insurers electrician round as trip switch again would not return to up position. He consequently found the wiring in the loft and informed us of the fire hazard. Phoned ERG and asked for a full refund but they have said it is not their company policy to issue refunds. It is impossible. Please do not use the stevenage company. Would certainly not recommend.
I returned to my house at late…
I returned to my house at late afternoon and found the electricity was off. I needed to cook as a friend was coming for a meal and googled 24hr service. I panicked and gave ERG my card details. Someone came round and just turned a switch on the fuse box. A one minute visit cost me £186. I am an elderly pensioner and and despite several phone calls-i got nowhere. It is shocking and very upsetting. Once they have your card details- you are on your own. Who are these people?
Quote survey a waste of money
The electrician turned up to survey and quote but did not do the survey arranged on the phone and did not seem the least bit interested in the job we wanted doing. He kept looking at his watch, took no notes about what was required even though it covered different rooms and seemed more interested in trying to persuade us on other works we had no intention of doing. A quote was provided but was only for part of work we needed and was of no use whatsoever.
What a rip off
What a rip off. Charge exorbitant fees but don’t provide a service. Electrician in house less than a minute and said he couldn’t do the job. Said he wouldn’t charge, but the company did, £162 for nothing. Diabolical service. Would never recommend this company to anyone.
Just the Worst - Go Somewhere else
Electrician booked for wednesday - no show, no phone call, after chasing told would be with me between 9 and 4 Thursday.
Another day off work, and guess what no electrician, rebooked and agreed to pay premium for Saturday.
Another no show, rebooked for monday and yes its gone 6 and no electician, faced with a "maybe we can fit you in tomorrow" I have gone some where else
Their customer service is lousy, there is no comms from them when they are letting you down, you have to chase them endlessly and you get the feeling they just say what they need to to get you off the phone.
One gent actually admitted they had no electrician on the schedule for me Saturday they were still trying to phone someone at 3.30 pm. Just an hour earlier I had been told everything was OK
They dont care. After 2 fails I should have been at the front of the list but no, end of the list and failed for a third and then a fourth time.
Please go somewhere else
ERG more like 'Ergh what a waste of time'
Like a lot of people here I was fobbed off with numerous arrival times, non of which came to fruition. I rang the centre over ten times and was met with total apathy. Though I expect a week of taking calls for this company would destroy the soul of anyone its not an acceptable way to run a business. If you have a problem that needs fixing I would suggest shouting at it as loud as you can before resorting to soliciting the services of ERG.
