Appalling company
Appalling company. Waited five hours and no one came
Unreliable and unhelpful.
Booked with them and they said someone would be with me between 30 and 90 minutes. Whilst waiting, I read their reviews and became concerned. Low and behold, just over an hour later they called to say noone was available to visit. Awful.
Excellent quick service
Excellent quick service. I called ERG to replace a light fitting that was located in a difficult to get to location over the stairs/hallway. I made the call at 9am and was told the electrician would be with me by 1pm. They emailed me a quote whilst I was on the phone.
Whilst waiting for the electrician to arrive I read the ERG Electrics reviews on Trustpilot and started to get concerned, but the electrician turned up an hour early at midday, was very friendly and professional. He removed the old light fitting and installed the new one that I provided quickly with no fuss.
I mentioned the Trustpilot reviews to him. He said ERG don't employ electricians directly, but qualified electricians could register with them to get additional work. He picked up work from them regularly and had had no problems with them. He explained that electricians were able to make more money for jobs where customers call them directly, so they may take jobs from ERG, but then cancel if a more profitable job came up and this may be the reason for the bad reviews.
I can only speak from my experience with ERG, which was excellent. I had spent an hour on the phone trying several local electrical contractors, but none were available for weeks. ERG were probably more expensive at £125 + £25 VAT for one hours labour, but they supplied a qualified electrician within a few hours, so for me it was very good value.
I wish I had read the reviews before I called
I wish I had read the reviews before booking them. I had the same experience as all the other people they phoned to cancel at the time they should have come after getting our card details. Total scammers
Incredibly expensive rip off
Booked 'engineer' to visit disabled relative's property to perform PAT test on three items. Agreed time of between 08:00 and 13:00. They rang at 12:25 to say 'the testing machine has broken'. I told them not to bother to re-book. I hope they haven't charged my card for the job.
They charged £55 PER ITEM plus VAT, so £198 for three things!!! I have now re-booked a proper company who charge £49 plus VAT for up to 30 items.
This company is a complete rip-off, do not use them
AVOID!!!
AVOID!!!
Called them at 4pm and was told that someone would be with us by 8pm to look at an electrical problem in our home. They call me at 7.50pm saying they cant send anyone after all. I asked why they could not have phoned me earlier than that so that I could try and get someone else. All I got was the pathetic caller telling me she was sorry but not answering my question. A complete and utter waste of time.
I recently called ERG Electrics for an Electrical problem
I recently called ERG Electrics for a fault with my cooker. They misdiagnosed the fault and charged me £150. I subsequently had to called another local electrician who rectified the fault.
I would certainly never use them again. They are not in Corsham the office is in Southend.
Do not use this company
Do not use this company.
They charged me £150 for a quote I never received.
No work carried out.
Do not give them your bank details.
They take what ever they want.
And do not complete any work.
DO NOT USE
DO NOT USE! Called erg at 1pm for an emergency call out they promised someone would be out by 6pm and then called at 5.pm saying we can’t do it now find someone yourself basically! Now stuck with not electric!
How is this company still in business?
How is this company still in business?
Took my husband's bank details & said an electrician would be out to us by 4pm same day. We waited in all day. Needless to say he never showed up & not even a call to apologise. Made further appointment for a few days later. Again,no electrician showed up. Another day wasted. I called them just before 4pm on my husband's mobile, the excuse this time was .... he couldn't make it! I was rather annoyed by the couldn't care less attitude of the woman on the other end of phone. Next day....7th May, I tried to call them to issue a warning, but they had blocked my husbands number, so I called from my mobile. They were told quite simply but firmly that if they took any money out of our bank, we would have no hesitation whatsoever in reporting them to the police. They were also told that on top of their appalling number of bad reviews, I would be adding another lone star to their ratings.
Call charge £150! Rip off!!!!!
Flat call out charge of £150 whatever they say about hourly rates. Electrician didn't phone me before coming despite being told he would, took 5 minutes to do the job and charged £150. Scum.
Evil
Evil, robbing, twisted !!! This company charged my 71 year old mum £150 to swap a ceiling light with the same fitting! When I tried to speak to them they refused due to data protection!! For a light fitting! Give me a break. Hate they have done this to my mum . Horrific
Load of rubbish
They said I would get a confirmation email and a phone call before the guy came. Got neither. Then waiting all day and he turns up really late in the evening when he can't really do anything anyway. Then stays not even a minute. Then says he will come back tomorrow. I wait and then find out from ringing them that he won't come because he doesn't like the state of my house. They didn't even let me know this when I have been waiting all day.
Should have read the reviews
Called this company as an emergency callout as they apparently offer 24/7 365 service just to be told at the agreed time of arrival that they couldn’t get anyone there for 2 days!! Hardly emergency care and at 165 plus vat per hour plus materials you would have thought they could cover this. Not a reliable service
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. Never use them, best option is to deal directly with an electrician. Will not be using or recommending these con people again.
They overcharge, scam and take money out of my account and there was no work done at all. An absolute shame and disappointment that people are actually brave enough to take money from you without actually doing any work!
Oh dear
Oh dear. I wish I'd read the reviews before calling. A whole day of waiting for an urgent repair and then a call just before 5pm to say not only could they not find capacity today, but they'd have to cancel completely because they never would. Hopeless.
a rip off
Came out when they said they would but never found the fault. The engineer spent all of his time tightening screws that did not need tightening.
DO NOT USE EXPENSIVE AND DO NOT FIND THE FAULT A COMPLETE CON.
WARNING WARNING WARNING.
WARNING WARNING WARNING.
DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR CARD DETAILS.
THEY WILL TAKE MONEY JUST FOR A QUOTE £150 FOR 10 MINUTES.
Jokers
For what it's worth I will add my bad review to these already shockingly bad reviews. Unfortunately, as others have experienced, I didn't look at these reviews before I used these scammers. How is it that they are able to pose as a legitimate company in a civilised country? How is this happening?? They don't even bother to reply to any of these reviews. They just rake in hundreds of pounds from unsuspecting people. I feel utterly stupid to have fallen for this scam.

I phone ERG Electrics Oxford (they are the top hit on google) to replace a broken plug socket. They wanted credit card details upfront, suggesting the charge would be £150 or so for a weekend call out and I would have someone at my door by 6 pm. Nobody appeared.
When I got in touch (by phone) it turned out that they got both my email address and my phone number wrong. I find this interesting when I repeated my phone number twice and spelled out my email address.
When I got in touch with their "live chat" operators, they assured me someone had tried to call me. Eventually, I cancelled them, and they assured me my card and other personal details had been deleted from the system.
The man on the phone who conducted the cancellation was very polite and professional, which gave me some hope.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company, and I suggest that others do not use their services. I do hope, however, that some others have had a positive experience.
