Lovely people but truly awful service

Lovely people but truly awful service. Terrible communication - both internally and in terms of keeping me informed. The cost of moving analysis provided at the outset was out by hundreds of pounds and costs just kept rising throughout the process. I thought buying and selling through the same agent with in-house conveyancing would smooth the way but I was very very wrong. The different teams didn't seem to talk to each other and information they passed on to me often conflicted. I never knew where things stood. Different companies would have chased and prompted each other but Connells was really lax. I ended up losing my purchase and the sale took over 6 months, even though I had a buyer in the first week. And don't get me started on their in-house mortgage adviser! What a con!!!

Utterly unprofessional

Utterly unprofessional! That’s Connells in Worcester.
I made arrangements a week ago for Connells to visit my home at 1600 hours today (Monday, 17 April 2023). At 1505 hours today, Connells telephoned to say that they had an emergency to deal with and they couldn’t change their diary (‘scuse me?) and cried off. They said, let’s make a new appointment. I said I would contact them later…but I won’t.
Is this how the under 30s conduct business today. About as useful as a cat flap on a submarine they are.
And they won’t be selling my home for me.

SCUMBAGS—Connells is trying to take every penny…
Connells is trying to take every penny of our deposit from us. I’m still fighting to get my deposit money back in full. 

We paid a holding deposit, got through referencing etc and we were told to expect to move in on the 28th february 2023. They unlawfully requested deposit and rent in advance on the 20th feb. Always never sign a tenancy BEFORE you give these scumbags your money…

On Monday morning 27th feb 2023 we got a call from Connells to say that our keys are ready. We went to pick the keys and returned the keys the very same day coz the house was a tip inside. The walls were falling apart, the kitchen tap wasn’t working the ceiling had stains the chandelier in the lounge was hanging with one wire. We were all packed up ready to move out and we were so disappointed coz we had to pay double rent for 2 properties. 

Connell had no alternative for us, and we couldn’t find an alternative with a new agent. 

Now we have found property and the only thing holding us back getting the keys to our new home, is the fact that we STILL have not received our deposit. 

Nicola Jacques and Hamza keep telling us that the finance department have to go through a process which takes time. However this situation was caused by their total incompetence unprofessional and lack of transparency. 

Avoid this scumbag organisation and Nicola Jacques and her staff don’t care one iota about the customers keeping them in suspense all the time. I hope that Nicola Jacques and Hamza are enjoying their commission earned for deceiving a hard working family. (Scumbags)

I have made a complaint to their head office- claiming compensation from loss of earnings, cancelled SKY and no internet for 3 weeks. Connell and Nicola Jacques and Hamza caused some massive sheer distress to my family and l will fight tooth and nail to get some compensation. 

I’m off to the ombudsman regardless of the outcome of their internal investigations. 

Absolute scumbags.

Previously rented with them and they…

Previously rented with them and they tried to take every penny of deposit when we moved. Luckily we got most of it back.
Saw a house we loved a year later, figured better the devil you know, right? So wrong!!!

We paid a holding deposit, got through referencing etc and were told to expect to move in this Tuesday(28th feb). They unlawfully requested deposit and rent in advance on Saturday 24th feb(always sign a tenancy BEFORE you give these crooks your money!)

On Monday morning(27th feb) we got a call from Connells to say they were sorry but the house had gone through court proceedings and a judge ruled the house must be sold so basically the day before our big move we were told no. We are all packed up. The kids cried their little hearts out when I told them the bad news.

They had no alternative for us. Luckily have found a new property with another agent but had to twist their arm to get Connells to hand over the paperwork already done to save time(it was the least they could do!)

Now the only thing holding us back getting the keys to our new home, is the fact that we STILL have not received our deposit and rent in advance(nearly £3000)!

They keep telling us that the finance department have to go through a process which takes time. However this situation was caused by their total incompetence and lack of transparency- we would never have gone for the house had we known this risk!

Avoid like the plague- the staff don’t care one iota about the customers keeping them in a job- I hope that Tanita and Leigh are enjoying their commission earned for deceiving a hard working family.

Once I am settled in our new home, I will be making a complaint to head office- claiming compensation from loss of earnings, cancelled BT and no internet for 3 weeks because of having ti find somewhere else(I WFH), and the sheer distress caused.

Then I’m off to the ombudsman.

Absolute rotters!!!! How do you even sleep at night?!

Useless

Put a for sale board outside my property in error on Saturday whilst we were out, came home to see it, no apologies, had all of Monday to come and get the ugly advert but have not bothered. Useless. Are you now paying me to advertise your company for 3 days?

Avoid using Connells and their chums

Avoid using Connells and their chums at I am Sold and Medway law. We were persuaded to use the 'new modern method of auction', that it would be quick and easy and that all 3 companies talk to each other. Total rubbish! The most stressful experience I have ever had. Didn't seem to care at all about their clients at all. Sent out e-mails saying we had completed the sale when we hadn't - and still haven't.

My first contact with Alan,seemed nice…

My first contact with Alan,seemed nice but I was surprised he wanted to take photos of my passport and driving licence as I'd previously seen 3 estate agents and no-one had asked for my Id. The next morning I rang to cancel feeling I'd been rushed but he talked me out of it. So I emailed him several times ovrr several days receiving no reply or acknowledgement.

Worst experience ever

Worst experience ever. Used them to sell a property and they persuaded the poor inexperienced buyer to use Premier Property Lawyers who were a nightmare! Connells didn’t return calls or emails and with just us and the buyer in the chain it took 7 months to complete. When I complained Connells Compliance Department responded and sent me the full details of someone else’s complaint, their investigation and offer of £75 good will gesture. If you value your mental well-being, steer well clear!

worst experience in my whole life

worst experience in my whole life - they promise a duty of car and instead all you will receive is disrespect, rudeness or blatant ignoring, avoiding and turned away when begging for assistance..Ive been advised to share my story which over the past few months has got so bad my health has deteriorated, my job is on the line all of which Connells are very aware of. my story/experience will go on all forms of social media and other media outlets want our story as well as this shocking estate agency have made the already distressing situation a hundred times worse. Our safety, lives and well being is at risk weve begged for reference letter and to be released from our tenancy with full deposit so we can flee from here in fear and connells refuse us.

No communication what so ever!

Have 16 week to arrange a house purchase then everything left to the last minute. Total shambles! No commumication. Done communicate between themselves let alone to their customers.
Don't know why they have a contact number and extension number on the website and nobody is ever available.
Never had the inital telephone call even when I was bombarded with emails to book one or my case should be closed. Couldn't book an appointment on thier system as all slots taken up for the next two weeks. Unable to book beyond 2 weeks so waste of time having it.
Wanted paper version of documents, who has paper statements now?
Never returned calls. Left hanging with no idea what was happen even upto the close of buisness the day before completion. Completion couldn't go ahead as they wanted more personal information to be provide with 1/2 hour before close of business! Preimer Lawyers, more like under 10's Sunday League than Preimer!

Letting department is shambolic we were handed over to a gentleman called Stuart who has to be one of the most unprofessional/rude individual we have come across. Very unhelpful through our whole experience, two weeks of intensity and abrupt behaviour we have actually taken Our complaint further penalised and discriminated for being self employed having our accountant send endless paper work at Stuart’s request…
Stuart to refuse bank statements as supposedly do not proof earnings as well as attachments
Stuart discriminating against self employment and relevant documents he requested from an accountant.

As others have mentioned I really begrudge giving them 1 star. Absolute shambolic company and I would be ashamed to have my name associated with them if I was an employee.
As a tenant, communication is virtually non existent, continually chasing for updates, given incorrect information, living in a fridge is not very desirable. I don't know what my landlord pays them but he is being robbed.
I can't wait to see how long it takes for me to get my deposit, another battle no doubt.
I wouldn't touch them with barge pole for any future lettings, sales or purchases.
The culture of an organisation comes from the top so the CEO needs to have a good look at his festering company.

Out of 3 viewings 1 showed up, 1 cancelled and 1 never showed up rather take your money and not do the hard graft. Didn't keep an appointment I had to chase them but hannah in corby was the only positive thing about connells

I was working for this company when I had a heart attack. The company wanted me back at work full time less than 5 weeks after my heart attack and when i couldnt do full time straight away they embarked on a campaign to remove me from the company, they didn't pay my wages they owe me and now I have a stressful fight on my hands to get what I'm owed. I have heard the way property mangers speak about their customers, landlords and tenants and it isn't nice, it is unprofessional and I would feel ashamed when I heard the things they would say. Very bad company to deal with on every level.

What an amazing service we have received from the letting team at Southampton. Stuart Bailey and Shannon King are two true professionals who guided our way to letting our home for the first time. Their calm and confident approach helped us massively throughout the process.
We 100 percent recommend this company to anyone and their costs are fully and clearly explained, no hidden charges.

Fabulous mortgage advisor!

Myself and my partner have had Billy as our mortgage advisor and we are so happy with the service that we have received from start to finish. He is so efficient and proactive. He replies to emails on the day they are sent to him and nothing is ever too much trouble for him. Buying a house is so stressfull but Billy has been fabulous! Thank you Billy!

Would highly recommend - received a professional service above what would normally be expected

I dealt with Charlie-Rose from the Abingdon office for my late father-in-law's mobile home. I was very happy with the service I received. Queries were responded to quickly (and there were many!) either by Charlie-Rose or Abbie responding by phone or emailing me. The property was marketed immediately with fantastic photos. There were some problematic and unexpected issues which needed addressing with a third party however Charlie-Rose was straight on the case to resolve them which was a service way beyond what I was expecting.
From securing a buyer to completion was a little over 5 weeks . . . very impressive!
