Disillusioned with customer service

I was interested in a cavapoo puppy and after waiting for some weeks, three became available. I was interested in the 'breeders choice' puppy and sent off an email asking a few questions about the parentage and delivery etc of this particular puppy. As soon as I received a response, I asked one more question about delivery time and waited on that reply, all the time expecting that the puppy I was enquiring about would be 'on hold' as I had stated a preference.
The next email, less than half an hour later, told me that the puppy I was interested in had already been sold and there was only one cavapoo puppy remaining.
I went back to the website and sure enough there was only one remaining puppy and although this one had been cheaper than the one I had been interested in, the price had now increased to a cost more than the original highest price, although I was told that I could buy this one at the original cheaper price!
I was very disappointed that this had happened and I had not even been notified that there was others interested in the puppies. Had I been told in one of these emails that someone else was interested in this puppy, I would have reserved him. As it now stands, I am totally disillusioned with Euro Puppy and their lack of customer care and if this is the way they do business, I have informed them that I will not be buying from them and will not recommend them either.

We are very sorry that you were unable to reserve the Cavapoo puppy you were really interested in, due to someone else selecting it just before you. Though it is very rare that this happens, it can occur occasionally, and in your case was sadly unavoidable.

As much as we would have wanted to see you get your perfect puppy we are unable to reserve, or place a temporary 'hold', on a puppy based purely on a customer inquiry or interest. Due to the number of inquiries we get this would lead to virtually no puppies visible on our site.

The Cavapoo especially is a very popular breed; the day you got in touch, we had 8 enquiries alone. We can often have multiple people interested in a pup, and of course anyone can reserve a puppy right away on our site, without enquiring beforehand.

We know it was a big disappointment for you that this happened, and we understand that this naturally has upset you, especially as it came so suddenly. If we could have avoided this upset, we truly would have. We want nothing more than to see all our dog lovers united with their dream puppy. Happily we are very fortunate to have many Cavapoo litters frequently available and we would still be more than happy to help you get a puppy from an upcoming litter.

Euro Puppy does not screen for puppy mill breeding

I came across Euro Puppy and was intrigued. Lots of great reviews and an interesting concept. If they screen the breeders then this gave me some comfort that I would not be dealing with a puppy mill. However, on inquiry I find this is just a company looking to make money of the backs of mill puppies.

I sent an inquiry about a puppy of which I had interest. I asked if I could see pictures of the puppies with the mother. The reply 'The breeder is located in Hungary and has 5 females in the kennel.
You may see a picture of the mom on the website but after birth the breeders don't send pictures as much of the moms fur will be falling out due to the birth. Plus they also shave some parts for hygienic reasons.'

My response 'First of all, I am retired now but have lots of experience with breeding and breeders, and used to be on the board of directors for a humane society in the US.
Healthy dogs do not lose their fur after giving birth. This sounds like a puppy mill. A legitimate breeder has nothing to hide, and they want you to feel comfortable and protected through the entire process of adoption.

A live video feed of the mother and pups would solve this problem if they are in fact legitimate. Could you arrange a zoom, facebook, or video call so I can see where the dogs are kept and the condition of the parents please?

Co-founder, CEO explaining why they don't want the buyer put directly in touch with the breeder.

My response: Sandor,
While on the surface of it that sounds lovely and I understand that you want to protect your business and not have the buyers go direct thus cutting out your commission, when someone tells me a mother dog is shaved for hygiene reasons that tells me they are being kept in their own feces and horrible conditions to begin with. A responsible breeder will have no problem showing where the puppies and parents are kept.

You can do live video feeds. We had wi-fi cameras set up in our rescue pens so people could look on line any time and see where and how the dogs and puppies lived. It had the added benefit of not distressing the mother dog with multiple visits.

So the fact you want to keep this information hidden makes me very suspicious and if you support unethical breeders and puppy mills you should be ashamed of yourself.

SUMMARY: Do your research.
“Puppy mill” conditions can include:
Small cages with wire floors that hurt dog feet and legs.
Cages stacked on top of one another without ample ventilation.
Poor sanitary practices, leading to illness and parasites.
Forced breeding of female dogs with little time for recovery between litters.

Don't trust any breeder who will not let you see puppies with the mother.

I am aware of the very brief communication you have had with us, and I want to address all the statements you have made, both directly to Euro Puppy, and here. This way I can show that your statements are unfounded and unjustified, and are in fact very unkind to the brilliant breeders we work with. I am just sorry this could not have been resolved directly with you, but has to be done here.

Whilst I understand that you were dissatisfied with your requests not being met, I am very disappointed that this had led you to jump to these conclusions. I want to say up front that Euro Puppy is very proud of the breeders we work with, and we feel the need to protect them from unproven accusations. Especially here, where they cannot defend themselves.

One of your main concerns seems to be the inability of the breeder to use modern technology to showcase their dogs and kennel. You mention using zoom, and webcams, to show the dam and the puppies. This may be perfectly acceptable for some breeders, and I agree it would be fantastic, but it is not always possible. For example not everyone is as tech savvy as others. And if the breeder is an older person, as many are, this can be very difficult. Just because a breeder isn't an expert with tech doesn't mean they are a bad breeder.

As you yourself mentioned you actually could see photos of the dam on the site, these were taken before the birth, so nothing is 'hidden'. Only a new update of the dam just after the birth was not provided. Many breeders, like this one, are very proud of their dogs, and are reluctant to share a photo or video of the dam right after the birth, when naturally they are not looking their absolute best.

In regards to your statements about the issue with the coat, the actual reason is that the breeder shaved the area around the vagina, and the nipples, for hygienic regions. Your evidence-less accusation that this dam is kept in horrible conditions, is completely the opposite of what is the case here. The dam is actually cared for and groomed to make sure she is as healthy as possible after going through the birth.

I want to state categorically that none of the statements you mention in your ‘Summary’ are true of this breeder, or others we work with, and you have no evidence to claim that they are. We approve every breeder, and assess their methods and their standards of care before their puppies go on our site. By promoting only good breeders, Euro Puppy has protected people looking for a puppy online from such puppy mill breeders, and has been doing so for the last 20 years.

We have nothing to hide, and will strive to meet any request a potential dog owner has. But we work with hundreds of breeders, and we have to respect their opinions, their privacy and their capabilities. It is beyond unfair to label a kennel as a puppy mill just because of the generalisation you are making due to their lack of tech skills, and the after birth care of the dam.

Again, it is disappointing you cut the conversation so short before we were able to show you that your claims come from baseless assumptions, and you had nothing to worry about here. This could have avoided our breeders being so attacked. We are still perfectly happy to talk with you again and find you a puppy from one of our brilliant, caring breeders.

Professional and Trusted

I have ordered a Saint Bernard through Europuppy hoping to buy a champion blood line, having her with us now, I can say I was not disappointed at all. It was her first visit to the vet today after almost being 3 weeks with us, and she was found to be healthy and properly vaccinated. Although there were delays in her delivery and fears of being scummed having to rely purely on website’s review, the company has truly lived up to its name. They truly deliver healthy puppies and not just those from dodgy puppy farm. Gabor and Gina particularly were so helpful and patient with all my queries and in addressing my fears. Thank you for bringing my lovely sainty to us.

At first, I was skeptical about the process of buying a puppy online...

At first, I was skeptical about the process of buying a puppy online, we all know how many scammers out there especially since the start of the Covid. So I hesitantly sent my initial email to Gabor at Euro Puppy about one of the German Sheperd puppies. I got a response back in a few hours already which I was very surprised by. Gabor was helpful and he gave me all the information I needed to believe in him and Euro Puppy. From the answers I got, I felt that they knew what they are doing and most importantly I didn't feel the need to buy and I was not pushed to make a decision. They did not ask for doggy western union transfers and things like that, it all seemed legit with safe ways to pay. So I decided to put a deposit down which was 750 euros and I got an online account created for me confirming my reservation the next day, this was great to see and I felt even more reassured that they are a real company. Along the process I was always kept up to date on what was happening, got new pictures and videos, I was told when my puppy went for a medical exam and when I asked, I also got a copy of the medical exam document so I could see what was checked. My beautiful girl was almost old enough to travel when I made the reservation so the delivery was about 3 weeks after the deposit payment. I was informed of the arrival date about 1 week in advance which would have been great to know 2 weeks prior but it was fine. My puppy arrived with her passport, two health certificates, and a small portion of food. She was bathed before the delivery but I also gave her a bath after arrival before going to the vet for a check-up. Virginia brought so much happiness into my life since then and we continue to get to know each other, after all, it's been only 2 months since she arrived. I would like to say thank you to the Euro Puppy team, Georgina, and Gabor for their endless patience with me and my hundred questions which no doubt everyone has. They made a dream come through and I would gladly recommend their services to anyone.

Nice dog but poorly vaccinated

I have received a happy pretty puppy who has been nicely socialized. however, my vet had major concerns about the vaccinations done by the vet in Hungary, they were not spaced correctly apart to ensure she is well vaccinated (were done on 2 week intervals rather than 3-4 week). Additionally because the rabies vaccine was delivered to my puppy prior to 3 months (it was delivered 8 days early) it is not considered valid in Switzerland and I have to pay again to get my puppy vaccinated. Lastly, when I requested my puppy it was advertised that the crate the puppy comes in is included, and in the breed manual they share it tells you that you will not need to buy one. My girl arrived yesterday via road transport and the man dropping her off told me it was not included. So I am left without any crate to put her in until I can order one to my house (as all stores are closed here due to Corona). The Europuppy team was always fast to respond to requests and the breeder shared new videos every week to keep me updated on her progress.

We want to assure you that the vaccination protocols we follow are correct, even if your vet disagrees. They met all regulations and health needs, as shown when they were checked and approved by Swiss customs. Your puppy would never have been allowed through to Switzerland if they were incorrect.

Euro Puppy always ensures this for all the dogs in our care no matter where they travel. For 20 years we have been safely delivering puppies around the world, always meeting the health requirements. This is not the first occasion that a vet has believed a different protocol should be followed. But this does not mean the protocol we use is incorrect.

We do understand that some vets have their own opinions and differing ideas on the precise timing of vaccinations. We don’t blame you if your natural instinct is to follow and accept what a vet says. But we strongly advise you not to re-vaccinate, as your vet’s opinion does not change the fact that everything is correct.

For further assurance before you act on any advice, we are happy to put your vet in touch with ours who administered the vaccinations. So they can discuss their differing opinion regarding the vaccinations schedule.

Finally we sincerely apologize for the miscommunication with the crate and the inconvenience this caused. This was an error on our part, as we should have given this to you. We have authorised the refund of $100 to help in recompense for this.

Too many red flags. AVOID

A friend and I got 2 cavapoo puppies (brothers) and they were delivered to us sick, without even a warning. Both puppies had kennel cough, one an ear infection, and the other undescended testicles (even though the Europuppy vet simply ticked all the boxes as healthy).

We informed Georgina and Gabor and they did not even apologise for not telling us about the cough, much less offered to cover the veterinary expenses (as any other breeder would do and which would have been a tiny fraction of what we paid for the puppies). They did not even follow up to check on the health of the puppies!

After 3 vet visits, x-rays, and 2 rounds of antibiotics, my puppy is OK. But this got to the point of pneumonia and a lot of sleepless nights that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. This made me doubt the care EuroPuppy places on the dogs and whether the breeder was one of the many COVID-19 puppy mills.

Before this, our communication had been OK but we never saw any photos or videos of the parents or the living space. We only saw 3 official photo shoots even though we continuously asked for more. We expected it from other comments but we received nothing. We made a simple request of a photo of the 2 brothers together and it was impossible… if they were really living together in a home, this would be easy to do. When we asked about their personality, we were told “they are all the same”. A home breeder would never say this.

I wish I had educated myself more into what a responsible breeder should do before buying here. AVOID.

Responding to EuroPuppy's response: Our puppies were picked up at 11 weeks (not 9). The puppies were coughing since the first moment we picked them up and they saw a vet within 24 hours that confirmed they were sick and was surprised the other vet did not catch all the issues. We were in touch because we messaged YOU and all we heard was that you would investigate with the vet, and never heard back. I do hope that what you say about their living conditions is true. To avoid these concerns, you could provide more information to buyers: health certificates, pictures/videos of living conditions and parents.

We are very sorry that you had an unsatisfactory experience with Euro Puppy. We know you chose Euro Puppy so you could be confident the puppies came from a caring place. This is certainly what happened as we only work with experienced breeders. Our 20 years of vetting breeders allows us to easily spot and avoid puppy mills. We visit breeders in person, including your breeder, to ensure every pup comes from a nurturing environment, so they get the best and healthiest start to life.

Euro Puppy also has strict travel and health protocols, in line with EU and worldwide rules. One of these being that we do not allow any puppy to leave our care earlier than 4 months old. Just before a puppy travels, they also have to pass a number of health tests, and receive several vaccinations, which both puppies did. Cavapoos also receive an ultrasound heart test before travel, to ensure all is well there. Simply put, health is our top priority. We are especially proud of the Cavapoos we provide, as the worst feedback we have ever received, despite delivering many pups, is that a puppy had a small ear infection. This can happen from time to time after travel, as it did in your case, despite everyone doing everything to avoid it.

Even though we were reluctant, we honoured your request to collect the puppies from us at 10 weeks of age on the 30th October. It was an error to allow an exception here, as we believe this early departure, and the long journey for puppies of this age, might have caused the cough and infection, which resulted in your dissatisfaction. We have not had any cases of kennel cough in many months, and neither dog was ever in a kennel, or confined with other dogs. Therefore we did not believe that the veterinarian expenses were our responsibility as the puppies were healthy on collection. We also made clear beforehand that we do not cover these costs after travel, though we cover all before. In regards to the testicles, sometimes they do not fully descend until over 3 months of age. Occasionally they can also go back up; nevertheless the testicles were certainly down when checked before travel.

We are also sorry that you are not happy with the personal service you received. The number of updates you had were in line with other dog owners who were very happy with the service. We also went through our emails with you, and we see that we were very sympathetic and tried to help with your issues, until we stopped hearing from you. We were in touch with you regularly in the month after the puppies arrived, and asked for updates, and a vet report. But sadly we didn’t receive these, or hear from you after late November. We are saddened that you did not get back to us, as we would have wished to have known more, and to have helped earlier.

Again we do wish to apologize for your unhappiness with your experience. But we want to assure you we love dogs, and all our puppies get the best care, just as both these pups did. Learning from your experience we cannot be so lenient in the future about collecting dogs younger than 12 weeks of age. Nevertheless we are delighted that the puppies are happy and healthy once more, and we are always here to help you at any time in the future.

Very prompt and trustworthy

Very prompt and trustworthy. Good communication and knowledge in the field. We haven’t purchased a puppy unfortunately from them as they didn’t have the breed that we wanted, but Gábor was very helpful with guidance and information. I will really recommend the company.

The pedigree papers never received

The pedigree papers that I ordered for my dog were never received. I messaged them over and over again about the issue. After spend thousands of dollars you would think that this would be easier. They blame the kennel and covid for the issue with the delay. It has been over 8 months and still nothing. My German Shepard Charlie is amazing but I just wish that they would fulfill the entire order as requested.

Thankfully we do expect to have it very soon from the Kennel Club, as only one more stage is needed before completion. And we will send it out to you the moment we have it.

As you know the Kennel Club is the only place that can official prepare a pedigree, and sadly we cannot influence them. And as we informed you previously, they are having to take extreme extra precautions due to the virus, resulting in very few days when only a small numbers of workers there are dealing with pedigrees for the whole country.

I know that you are very delighted by your dog, and only feel let down in regards to the pedigree. I am so sorry for this, and that Covid 19 has caused the Kennel Club to massively downscale, which has led to many months of waiting for your pedigree.

Great service overall

We are so happy with our little bundle of joy, Rosalind the Cavapoo. She has fit herself perfectly into our little family and after a week, she is doing so well. We coordinated with Gabor and Gina frequently and they were both very helpful. We were also able to get our delivery date moved up, which was absolutely wonderful! Thanks, Euro Puppy! :)

Great service

Gina and Gabor were incredibly helpful! I was updated on my puppy regularly, and any concern or question I had was always answered within 24 hours. My puppy is happy and healthy and I paid for the training which I would do again. She knows how to sit on command, is comfortable with other dogs, and not afraid of or running after cars. Your dog won't know all the fancy commands but is overall more obedient. Althought I was skeptical of a website and puppy mills, I would recommend to anyone. My only issue was around delivery date, but that was because Europuppy delivers other dogs in the areas so has to coordinate.

Perfect Match!

Our Miss Lily Langtree is almost 14 years old. She is the sweetest, gentlest girl to walk the planet. I appreciate the time Europuppy put into finding me the perfect match. She has been so healthy and happy. I will use this service again some day, but hopefully not too soon!!

What a super company Euro Puppy is

What a super company Euro Puppy is! We found our Caucasian Shepherd Mountain Dog Svetlana, now named Ziva through this company and have been extremely impressed with the whole process from start to finish and even after our beautiful, healthy, intelligent puppy arrived at our home the communication is still there. They keep us informed at ever step. I could not recommend Euro puppy enough. If you want the perfect pet...use this company!

Wonderful Company

First off, Shane and Gabor are wonderful to work with. They were very patient with all of the million questions I asked about my golden retrievers.
When I got Abby, I had no intention of getting another, but a year later, I found myself browsing through the babies. We purchased "Daimon", now Odin, last September and he has been the perfect addition.
Both dogs came to us in very good health and spirits. They are extremely intelligent and the perfect examples of their breed.
It can take some time to receive pedigrees, but I believe much of that is to due with the FCI member branch in the country the dog originated in. Abby's papers took about 6 months, but that was partially my fault for not using Fedex. Odin's papers took a little bit longer, but with COVID, I can't really be upset about that. Shane worked really hard to get them expedited to me when I emailed him and kept me in the loop on where they were at in the process.
I am not looking to get another puppy just yet, but I think in a few years we will be, once again, browsing through the europuppies to pick out our new baby.

Fantastic customer service from Gina

Fantastic customer service from Gina. I didn’t actually proceed with a sale for unrelated reasons. However, at all times 7 days a week they were on hand communicating and keeping me updated. My deposit was returned no quibble and so they have great integrity. I have been really impressed with their whole attitude and attention to detail. Very professional.
