We're a charity. Our mission is Better Lives for Older People and our vision is creating sustainable communities that provide: Homes older people want; Lifestyles they can enjoy; and Care if it’s needed. To deliver our vision and mission we essentially do three things: we develop new villages, we operate villages and schemes, and we support our villages, schemes and our ‘extra-care’ model through fundraising, advocacy and research.

We enquired to view St Oswalds, potentially for our mother. We visited several times, met by Mollie who was lovely, caring, attentive and helpful.
The care model if perfect for someone needing support, continue being a home owner, with all of the benefits of the street, company of others, safety and independence. We loved the village.

Every part of our dealings with Extracare for getting a place at Lark Hill Retirement Village for my 81 year old recently widowed mum was awesome.
Julie in Sales was super helpful throughout and everyone we met throughout the whole process and when she moved in were lovely and very helpful.
It's a lovely place.

My Mother has lived at EPV for over 6 years. During that time her health has deteriorated and she now has dementia but she is determined to live independently for as long as she can. This is only possible thanks to the amazing care team managed by Emma Jenkins.
Mum has care visits 3 times a day. She attends 3 day centres and on those days the care schedule has been amended to ensure the timing of the care visit is linked to the collection time of the Ring and Ride bus service. A carer helps Mum to get ready, usually Abi Jones who is amazing, and then escorts her to Reception where the bus picks her up. Without this dedicated level of support my Mum would have a very limited social life.
Mum recently had a fall during the night but couldn’t remember where or how it had happened. The compassion of the care team following this discovery was incredible. They made several “welfare” calls throughout the day to make sure she was comfortable and they reassured her while waiting for the paramedics to call. I don’t live locally so it was very reassuring to know that Mum was in safe hands. Fortunately she wasn’t hurt.
As the daughter of a resident at EPV it’s very reassuring to know that she’s safe and secure, but also has kind and caring people calling in regularly to support her. I’d also like to say how helpful it is to have access to Birdie as I can monitor care calls in real time and know whether to be concerned or reassured!
A sincere “Thank You” to all the carers who visit my Mum. We really appreciate your kindness and dedication.

Fun Halloween party in the Villege... Loving a very active Village life and the ease and simplicity of apartment living in our lovely apartment, with views and access to Shenley Wood... The Village has so much to offer with excellent daytime and fun evening entertainment 🕺, Strictly 💃, choir sing-alongs, film and quiz evenings, pilates, zumba, bowls, kurling, table tennis 🏓, snooker, darts, a well-stocked library and gym. Also options for hobies such as painting, knitting, sewing, gardening and a workshop if you feel inclined. They have thought of everything you could possibly need or want including pre-arranged mini-holidays and day trips. The list goes on.
The apartment offers total privacy, or there is always someone with a smile and conversation in the Piazza, Bar, shop and Restaurant areas. Lovely to also welcome and entertain family and friends.
We furnished and settled in straight away.. We could not have chosen a better place to stay "young, foot loose and fancy free" 😊. We love it!! ❤️

We are so grateful that our mother moved into Earlsdon Park Village five years ago, where she has been privileged to live so happily in such a caring and supportive community. She has had the opportunity to join in many varied groups and activities and in later years has been well supported by the kindness and compassion of Extra Care staff. The befriending service and chance to meet people in the bistro and at EPV celebrations have been much appreciated. We could not recommend this way of living highly enough as she has benefitted greatly from independence within a community setting.

I live at the Solihull Retirement Village, and have to say on a whole the permanent Extra Care staff are wonderful, punctual and nothing is too much for them.
Always on time and helpful with advice and passing on messages to management.

We are very happy here, our apartment is spacious and comfortable. We have settled in well. The complex has all the facilities that we need.
The only thing we would have wanted are two toilets in our flat, which I know is not possible!

I have lived at Stoke Gifford Village for almost 6 months now and I have settled in really well and feel very safe and secure. The staff are very helpful and the other residents are very friendly and welcoming. I do the communal jigsaws most days and it's a good way of getting to know other residents as people stop and talk about the puzzles. I think it would be good if a hot drink machine could be put in the reception area as it would be nice on some evenings to sit in the communal area and have a chat but on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the Bistro/Cafe closes at 5PM so there is nowhere to get a hot drink if we want one. Also the carpets need cleaning in the corridor areas as they are stained and dirty looking which isn't good if we show friends and family around. On the whole it's a lovely place to live and I'm very glad to be able to live here. Thank you.

I am a resident in Stoke Gifford Village, Bristol. I have been here 4months and found I settled in right away! The staff and residents have made me feel welcome from day 1. I have made many friends and joined in some of the activities. I have had a hospital admission with a heart attack and it was SO HELPFUL to be able to come home on discharge, rather than waiting for care package to be put in place! This and the friendly atmosphere has changed my life for the better!! Thank you.

My mum moved to Solihull Village nearly 2 months ago and hasn't regretted it.
She lived at her old home for nearly 50 years so it was a big move.
I have to commend the staff at the village and the resident volunteers in helping to make the process so smooth and relatively stress free, from the initial open day, subsequent viewings, the well being assessment, dealings with reception staff and housing team induction.
Special mention to Pat, Eddie, Glenny, Vicky, Denise and Alex for being so kind and welcoming
The recommendations the village gives for estate agents, solicitors and removals company were all spot on.
I've also given them all 5 star reviews 🤗

My Mom moved to Hagley Road Village in June 2025.
Lynda Williams was amazing throughout the process of purchasing the apartment. Since moving, the whole staff have been great. They are always friendly and supportive. The other residents are also welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend a move to The Village.

I ‘m an 85 year old widower who moved into Shenley Wood Village nine months ago now confident that I made the correct decision. I’m able to enjoy a high level of independence, whilst knowing professional support and a raft of social activities are onsite. Of major importance is that my children now have peace of mind that assistance is immediately to hand should the need arise.

I moved to Hagley Road Village just over a year ago. I regard this as one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My main reasons for moving were future proofing and security, but I’ve also benefited socially and made new friends. I like the fact that you can choose your own life style and decide how much or how little you want to participate in activities without feeling any pressure.

We lived in our old home for 45 years so it was quite emotional for us when we decided to move to Lark Hill Nottingham in June 2024. We needn’t have worried, right from the start we were well supported through the whole process by Julie in sales and our befriender Sal.
All the staff and residents have been so kind in helping us feel “at home” We take part in lots of activities and now do volunteering in the village.
