The company began in an Oxfordshire farmyard in the early 1980s, selling terracotta floor tiles at a time when they were relatively unknown by the British public and weren’t available in tile shops. They proved hugely popular, and we opened a small London showroom selling just six different tiles. Customers began requesting glazed wall tiles to complement their terracotta floors and we sourced a small selection of other glazed tiles and put together a brochure covering our entire offering. By the mid 1990s, the company had grown from its humble beginnings on an Oxfordshire farm to having a number of showrooms in London and across the country. Today, we have 26 showrooms in the UK and expect to add two more in the coming year, including a brand-new destination store on New Kings Road in London. Our aim has always been to offer products produced with authenticity, creativity and style, and where possible both handmade and produced as close to home as we can manage. The UK Ceramics Industry has a long tradition and it is one we are keen to support. Having said that, where we spot a tile on our travels that is too beautiful to resist, we do of course secure it exclusively for our customers, many of whom are second generation fans of Fired Earth and its products. Decorating and design have become entrenched in the national mind not just as the preserve of the super wealthy, but as a way to create homes for ourselves and our families that reflect how we like to live today. At Fired Earth we like to think that although it may not be every day our customers choose to redecorate (although our paint does allow for just that level of obsession), we have identified the right looks and styles that feel perfect no matter what the style or age of property. Our website has grown too and now offers almost all of our collections to browse and buy online and shows stunning room sets and great design ideas to help inspire you.

Formerly a long term user and enthusiastic customer of fired earth for paint - recommended them to my friends. Got a warning that their supplier had changed and reorders might have colour or tone changes, fair enough. Fired Earth paint was a joy to use, excellent quality intensity of pigment, coverage etc. This "new" paint is very poor indeed - you'd do better with diy store bought at half the price. Packaging is fancier but overall smacks of a cheaper product. I'm a portrait artist so I do know my paint so no patronising response please. Unless it changes back and soon I'll be avoiding it in future.
This was the company's response to the above "Hello Neville, as all our our paint is small batch produced can you please contact our Customer Care team with your order details so we can further investigate."
I bought a product from them.... now I have to tell them details of what they sold me? Do they have no internal controls to identify their own sales orders?
Comment from them was unsigned.
Got refunded and customer service was very good. I've upgraded this review to a three (this is not about the company but the product). Maybe I just got a rogue tin but I doubt it.

Brett and Amanda at the Islington showroom are fantastic. Incredibly helpful with their advice and brilliant colour guidance. I had so much fun looking at bathroom options and am so grateful for the time they spent helping me. Would highly recommend.

Great tiles and service both in showroom and subsequent delivery.

When you spend thousands with a premium interiors brand, you expect better.
Fired Earth refused to accept the return of any of my surplus, unopened tiles—unless I returned the full order. It’s wasteful, unhelpful, and not something I expected from a brand positioning itself as high-end and design-conscious.
Brands like Claybrook get it right. It's time Fired Earth caught up.

Bought tiles for 2 bathrooms. Most of the tiles were in stock and look good hence 1 star.
The Ixworth bone tiles were on back order and eventually arrived after 2 weeks of to-ing and throwing and some frustrating delays with Fired Earth Transport department.
The tiles are indeed rustic and are supposed to look bone white with minor variations. What they actually look like is as if excrement was smeared thinly across the bathroom walls. Not a look one wants to have in one's bathroom. Large proportion of the tiles has a manufacturing defect. Probably due to shortages they were made between batches.
Obviously Fired Earth denies any liability. They looked at our photographs and said the photos are too dark. The reason they are too dark is because the tiles are the wrong colour (the bathroom has a huge skylight and the light was on when the photos were taken).
I wish we never used Fired Earth. Certainly never will again. Our builder who does a lot of large house renovations in our area had a look (he actually took the photos) and said that he will make sure none of his clients ever use Fired Earth.
If you are lucky enough to get what you ordered, then yes, the tiles are good. If there is any problem whatsoever, Fired Earth behaves like the worst retailer from hell you can possibly imagine.
Update following Fired Earth response: The builder and the tiler checked the reference on the box matched the name of the product ordered. They assumed as it's Fired Earth they don't need to do quality control, it is usually done at the factory. Nobody could imagine that a substandard product will be supplied by a top luxury brand that Fired Earth claims to be. If we bought from some cheap outlet, then yes we would have went over every tile before fitting it. The tiler installed the tiles in good faith thinking he was installing what was ordered. Only when we looked at the tiles in situ it became apparent that 70% of the tiles had colouring faults on the surface, i.e. dirty smudges. The smudges are actually under the glaze so they are manufacturing defects. Fired Earth are obviously now coming up with excuses that there is natural variation in colour, it's rustic, etc. If you think white and brown are on the same spectrum of colour variation, I do not. This is very poor and frankly we completely lost confidence in the brand. Our builder is annoyed, he said that if we went to some budget outlet he wanted to use none of this would have happened. We will be removing the faulty tiles from the walls and so far this whole drama set back the project by 3 weeks and counting, another week wasted sitting waiting for the Fired Earth to find time in their busy schedule to come and inspect the tiles.

Brett at Fired Earth Islington was extremely helpful and made choosing the tiles an enjoyable experience. He was prompt in delivering - and then amending (I had changed my mind!) - the quotation.

I have not received my paint (ordered online) and I suspect you, Fired Earth, have sent it to the wrong address. When I made an enquiry about the situation by email, you simply did not reply.
This is not the first time Frired Earth has given me such appalling customer service.

These paints and their colors are a delight and life-affirming. In addition, I am very sensitive to most chemicals, eg. household cleaners, perfumed soap etc. and can paint with these paints relatively easily.

Thank you very much to Brett from the Islington team. Brett was super helpful, friendly and informative when we went into the Islington branch to look at the tiles we found online. He discussed different options with us and really used his eye for design to suggest tiles that we hadn't previously considered. We had every confidence in Brett's abilities which helped us choose what to go for, alongside advising us on what else we would need for installation.
We also had great customer service from head office.
Thank you very much to Brett and his colleagues!
