Do not let your children rent a…

Do not let your children rent a property through this company. My son rented a house through this letting agency. The room was not as advertised. As per their website, “ Fit Properties invest in keeping their properties modern, fresh and well maintained”. The room had a patch of green and yellow mould, that looked like something had rotted or some form of biohazardous waste and smelled severely of damp. The bedside table was so damp, the back was falling off. It was uninhabitable, partly due to Fit Property’s shoddy maintenance and the landlords neglect. The agency don’t appear to care about the conditions of the houses they are renting.

Everything else was fine except for the…

Everything else was fine except for the deposit, for our previous rental home in Sheffield. They returned only £495 out of the £600 deposit, charging around £400 for cleaning, even though we had already cleaned the house, apart from normal wear and tear. And they took a month to release that as well. I felt this was really unfair and a bit dodgy.

Just to clarify, if £495 was returned from a £600 deposit, the deduction would have been £105 not £400 as mentioned. All deposit deductions are supported by evidence, in line with tenancy agreements, and processed through a government-approved deposit protection scheme. Tenants have the right to raise a dispute through the scheme if they feel any charges are unfair, and we fully support that transparent process.
