Folding Door Shop Reviews 

Please avoid this company at all costs. We ordered a set of bi-fold doors from them (including a start to finish service - they came out to measure, and would then fit the doors). All was fantastic through the initial quote and communication was swift from the company.
However, it all went drastically down hill when the doors were fitted. Our builder was horrified at the damage that had been done to our extension. Their employee who fitted the doors had removed a layer of the bricks at the bottom of the doors and had also removed the damp proof membrane (alongside chipping some of the adjacent bricks to the doors). We were able to put our whole hands through underneath the doors and wiggle our fingers inside the house from the outside!!!!!!! I have a video and photographs of this and wish Trustpilot would allow for photos and videos to demonstrate the damage. The installation was non-compliant with UK Building Regulations and our extension couldn't be signed off due to this.This was in November and we were exposed to the elements for the whole winter.
The company at first seemed to be remorseful and agreed to look at how the issues might be solved. This was essentially almost the last we heard from them - I was also pregnant at the time with a toddler living in a freezing house.
Our phone calls were ignored - the only time we managed to get a response was when we contacted Which? as at the time they were a Which? trusted trader. They eventually responded in writing after we wrote a letter which was delivered by Recorded Delivery as we felt that we needed to start an evidence bank as it looked like we may have to go through the small claims court. The response acknowledged that they had chipped bricks and removed a layer of bricks and the damp proof membrane - however they wished for us to pay for them to come and fix the problem!!!!
In the end I submitted a Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 claim to my credit card company as I had paid the deposit on my credit card (this makes the credit card company jointly liable with the firm who did the work). They acted quickly and accepted liability (Building Control stated that the installation was non-complaint with UK Building Regulations) and agreed for new doors to be sourced and also for our builder to be paid to make good the damage that had been caused by The Folding Door Company. Its worth mentioning that our extension was unable to be finished for over 5 months during the winter due to this. As the doors sat beneath floor level, we were unable to put any flooring down or install our kitchen. I was without a kitchen for the whole duration.
I appreciate this is a long review (though there are many more things I could mention, I have tried to cover the most important bits). Please do not be fooled and use this company. A company that installs doors that do not meet building regulations, damages the customers property and ignores correspondence/communication with the customer (unless contacted by Which?) is disgraceful. I note that the company still say they are a Which? trusted trader, however, I cant find them on the Which? trusted trader website. This is with searching for bi-fold doors and using the post code on their website of their address.

I dealt with this company and their service was excellent. One of their staff called Lisa has been very helpful and professional. I am happy to recommend this company and with no hesitation use them again.Bedri

Why the bad reviews i treated my mum to some rooflights and doors in the annexe and wow i cant believe what i got for the price Wayne was excellent from start to finish well done guys .Would recommend you.

We had a totally awful experience with this company. We spent just under £7.5k on a set of bifolds, a sliding door and 2 windows and we had issue after issue. We had bifolds that turned up scuffed and scratched and had to be touched up with paint by their supplier. They installed the wrong sliding door and then took months and months to come back to replace it and when they did it was missing parts…which took weeks to be fitted. They did technically resolve the above items but it took so much of our time chasing them and then several visits to site. We were really stressed and massively disappointed. They never acknowledged how much they had let us down and put us out which would have gone some way to make us feeling better. In the last communication with them they said they’d come back to site and we declined as we’d already had one site visit from the Managing Director which took 4 hours and resolved nothing (the Managing Director didn’t bring the Installations Manager with him as we’d agree and he didn’t know personally how to resolve the issues so wasted another day off work). Needless to say we would not recommend this company!

We have had some lovely Bifold doors supplied and fitted by the Folding Door Shop. From start to finish everyone I have had contact with has been delightful - whether on the phone with Luke, and others in the office, to pre-fit and then the final fitting by the brilliant James and Les. I could not recommend this company more.

They installed the lantern very poorly with visible cracks and freezing air streaming in from all sides.
One month later of asking for it to be fixed, no one has come despite temperatures being -5-10C.

Really poor service. Save yourself the hassle and get your lantern from someone else!

We agreed the specification and ordered folding doors and paid the deposit, only to receive email informing me that they had cancelled the order as they had miscalculated the cost. Not even a call! So much for a legally binding contract.

If my experience is anything to go by, you would do well to avoid this company.

Really friendly and helpful through the whole process. Doors are of a really high standard. Very happy.

I can not speak highly enough of The Folding Door Shop. They were so understanding in our constantly changing requirements and found everyone so obliging. Many thanks for helping us build our Dream Home.

Fitters where helpful, professional and tidy

From start to finish The Folding Door Shop have been excellent. Very professional, informative and friendly. The installation staff turned up on time and were very nice and have done a great job. We have already recommended The Folding Door Shop to 2 friends and will continue to do so.

Sales experience - I dealt with llisa who was extremely friendly, helpful and patient with us. as someone who isnt an expert on this product, she really did what what was necessary to guide us through the decision making process and fill in any gaps. We had a lot of questions and she was always willing to help. Even after the sale was complete, she was on call to help when she could.

Customer service - I dealt with Lauren. What an absolute star. So friendly and above and beyond the level of helpfulness that was necessary. we had issues with our builders (surprise surprise) and she went out of her way to help us resolve them. i am extremely grateful for this. She was our point of call for installation and warranties and really made the experience a positive one.

Installation guys - on time, professional and top quality. no complaints.

Product quality - so far so good. very pleased with quality and aesthetic. looks very slick.

We were referred to folding door shop through word of mouth, and because of our experience, i would not hesitate to do the same.

Quick and easy ordering process with helpful sales assistant and regular contact with follow up queries. Really easy to make appointment for survey visit and quick turnaround to get the order placed. Manufacture was within the time period stated and the fitting date was scheduled very quickly as well. Fitters did a really good job on the day and doors look great now. Overall a really positive experience and very easy company to work with, I would highly recommend. Thanks

I have updated this review from 3 to 4 stars as of 10 November as I have been pleased with the after sales support The Folding Door Shop have given me.
However, my comments below still stand, the main focus should be on improvement of their communication with the customer during the sales/project cycle.

This is to improve in their ability to keep the customer informed throughout the whole project lifecycle without being chased, once you have placed your order !.
They also need to be much clearer with customers up front that the customer themselves need to take care of any supporting structural work (eg Architect/Structural engineer).
Folding Door Shop put Doors in building apertures, basically.
On the plus side, lead time was good, Installation was to the date schedule committed and install team were efficient and did a good job.
Overall doors seem good quality and finished job is impressive.

Very pleased with my roof lantern and bifold doors, They look great!
The service we received from start to finish was superb too. 😀

Overall a great product at a very competitive price. Friendly company but the buying process a little convoluted in my opinion. Communication between office admin and fitters could probably be improved. I have offered to be a reference site for people who want to see the doors before buying.
