The book gives the film an extra layer – everything Kubrick took from the book and didn't use is in the book. The book helps you understand his film better. Apart from that, the book is perhaps a greater masterpiece than the film.
It is a very fine edition of this classic book with excellent illustrations.
I have yet to unpack the book, but I do not need to doubt the publication's quality once unpackaged.
The cover art and pictures throughout are pretty well done but I wouldn't have minded there being a couple more pictures. The material quality is miles ahead of any other books I've owned, and possibly any that I've ever actually handled. Despite that it does still seem a little pricey, especially when its $32 to ship them the slow way.
The book is great and the illustrations with the story are exceptional. A home run for "The Folio Society".

Beautiful edition
I love the slipcase and the binding: very futuristic, keeping with the theme
Nothing special for the price tag. Standard hardback, no cloth-binding, a silver, metallic slip case that shows every mark, including the scratches from before it had even reached me. Overall, very disappointing. Great book though.
Excellent, beautifully illustrated copy of this classic book. Was a gift for my husband and he loves it. A volume to be read and treasured
The Folio Society appear not to have any copies without a very scuffed slipcase remaining, based on the replacements I received. Otherwise the design is excellent.
Great Illustrations, Great Quality and Great Service
The cover is amazing, and the prints inside illustrate stunning and emotional moments from the story. Beautiful artwork. Nicely bound. Slipcover is silver foil over cardboard - a bit thin but it looks nice. This is a great way to read one of Clarke's best stories.
