Probably the best in the uk for buying a motorcycle/scooter

I’ve bought a few bikes at Fowlers over the years and have always found them to be really good at what they do. Bikes are always explained with proper handovers and they answer all your questions as they really know the products they sell.
Even with follow up contact made a few days after you’ve taken delivery just to see how your getting on and if you have any issues or problems. Can’t think of any dealer who does that and I’ve dealt with quite a few over the years.
Fowlers is the perfect place to get your bike. They also have a huge range of clothing and accessories so you’ll always get what you need.
You even get 10% off kit if you buy a bike so it’s a no brainer really.

Keep up the good work Fowlers!!

I have been a customer for 40 years but…

I have been a loyal customer for 40 years but no more. My last three bike purchases were very unsatisfactory with poor and even dangerous decisions when it came to safety checks carried out during service. For some reason I kept loyal to them but recently they sold on a bike I had pre ordered because another customer was interested in it immediately. I had insisted on delivery the next month which was originally agreed when I made the purchase. They care more about making a quick sale and don't take care during after sale and servicing.

I had a very positive experience…

I had a very positive experience purchasing a Piaggio Medley S 125. Neil and his colleagues were very helpful and made the entire experience stress free. They were the only dealer with the model in stock in the UK at the time of purchase, and made the whole process easy and straight forward.

I'd avoid at all costs

OK so although in the past I had absolutely no issues with Fowlers, unfortunately now I wouldn't buy any else from them. I bought my current bike from them just over 2 years ago and it was a year old and it has received numerous warranty replacement parts fitted. 4 months ago one of those parts failed again, but the bike now is out of warranty. I contacted Fowlers and asked there advice, only to be told that because I had not physically paid for the part it only had what warranty was left on the bike, which at time of fitting was last than a month. On there instruction I contacted Yamaha uk who has taken 4 months to get any sort of response from, but who acknowledged that the part is clearly faulty and is a reoccurring issue and it must be investigated. In the meantime I needed the bike serviced and I went to a reputable garage to have this done, but not fowlers. Because of this, Yamaha have said that on fowlers advice that it wasn't serviced by them, they would not say if the bike has been looked after and advised Yamaha not to authorise any further investigations or parts. This is after they fitted a new tyre and scratch the hell out of my wheel and I let them off, the first service should have been done at 600 miles at wasn't done until 1950 miles (prior to my purchasing), to having problems with the bike from pretty much since I bought it.

Really good service from Fowlers today

Really good service from Fowlers today. My new bike was taken there by KTM rescue. I had low expectations as I hadn’t bought the bike from them. However they had fixed it and called me within a matter of just a few hours. Really pleased with their service and will be back in future. Thank you 👍🏻

Absolutely disgusting service!

Absolutely disgusting service!! Booked my bike in over 4 weeks ago for service. Mot. Rear tyre and check brakes. Dropped the bike off evening before. Next day 4pm I had heard nothing so I called to find out service and tyre are all completed but to be informed they could not MOT it as it’s the wrong class. This was not advised on booking or dropping off!! I then phoned back an hour later to be informed they were trying to get it booked in somewhere for MOT and they would call me next morning. 10am today I was called to say that the head race bearings were worn and needed replacement. I asked why this was not mentioned evening before and they couldn’t answer. Bear in mind the bike is less than 3 years old with only 5800 miles on. They tried to explain its wear and tear but how can this be at age and mileage and nothing was wrong when the bike went in. They couldn’t tell me how much it costs as didn’t have a quote ready and also couldn’t tell me what I owed so far. I asked them to check and call me back in half hour. This they did do and quoted £750 for head race bearings plus what I owed. I then informed them that I would collect the bike and get sorted elsewhere. I am a service manager in the motor trade for over 30years and have never seen this disgusting service. On collecting the bike now on ride home the steering is dangerous and was never like this before it went in. I’m now having to sort a dangerous bike out plus get it MOT somewhere else. To top it off they phoned me recently to see if I wanted to trade it in for another!! What an absolute joke!! I will make sure all my family and friends that have bikes through them never to use them for service or repairs!! Very very angry is an understatement!!

POOR SERVICE / LACK OF INTEREST

Bought a brand new husky from them on saturday..appointment at 11am , actually left at 2pm...no owners manual , service book or anything...it was as if they really were not interested. expected a little more when purchasing a new motorcycle. total lack of interest from the staff...in 50 years of motorcycle riding (and buying) this is the worst experience I have had....

Awful customer service

My problem lies with my visit today. My brand new moped wouldn't start today with what look like battery issues. RAC came out after about 3 hours and said it was battery problems. He was brilliant to be fair and offered to relay this to the service team at Fowlers, which he did.

Keep the bike running, get it to the service centre. Fine, on my way.

I arrive at reception to be greeted by the same guy from Fowlers that I spoke to on the phone. He then proceeded to process my bike or whatever he was doing for a good 5-10 minutes with no communication to me. He then abruptly handed me a form to sign (didn't even say what it was) and asked if I had my key. I asked well, what for? Is it something that's looked at while I wait or am I leaving my bike here?

"We'll ask a technician to look at it and let you know."

He then walked off and left me waiting... okay... I'll wait then I guess.

Waited a good hour with no update and quite frankly no idea what was actually happening in the first place. Asked a member of staff who was doing training and explained the situation (she was brilliant btw!). She said they're still waiting on a technician so might be a while. Absolutely fine, thanks for actually letting me know something!

Once it was all done, they replaced the battery after probably 90 minutes of waiting. I said I'm not happy with the fact it broke down to be honest given its a new bike. I said I hope it doesn't happen again because I use it for work.

The original agent, who I later found out was the MANAGER retorted, "We tried it in the shop and it started every time." I said well there was obviously an issue because it didn't start earlier did it? "Well it started every time for us... we replaced the battery anyway."

So not only had he been rude from the start he's now accusing me of lying?

The girl doing training was absolutely fantastic. She may not have the full understanding of processes yet but at least she had great customer service. I think this so called manager needs to take some training from the new girl on how to deal with customers!

I hope nobody else has to deal with service like this. After losing a full day's work and waiting several hours to get the bike sorted I'd expect at least decent customer service. Especially because it was a brand new bike that had broken down!

Terrible Customer Service

Booked my KTM 990 in for a service and repair. Two day job so got a train home. Called next day at the appointed time. Bike not ready, still working on it. Waited a couple of hours. By midday still not sign of fault being fixed. Had to be in Exeter by 3pm to collect grandchildren from school and childmind. By 1pm I asked for a courtesy vehicle and eventually they gave me a Honda 125. Drove flat out down the M5 to get to the school in the nick of time. Was stopped by Police on the motorway as the bike had L plates! Took bike back next day but mine was still not ready. After prolonged discussions I was given a 1200cc Honda to use until my bike was ready a few days later. Bike eventually fixed and returned. Happy with the work done but terrible service. Whilst I was waiting the numerous other people waiting shared their experiences, which were similar to mine.
