For our trip to Greece, we wanted to focus on the ancient sites of Greek history and mythology. Compared to other tour companies, the 19-day tour of Greece Insiders was the MOST comprehensive package of ancient sites offered. Julia helped us tweak Greece Insiders’ suggested tour schedule to meet our needs and wishes, including the addition of two rest days – thankfully needed. I had a great working relationship with Julia from which we constructed the entire tour that we still think was perfect. With 22 days of logistics, it went without the slightest hitch – something to bear in mind when all you want to do is enjoy Greece and not worry about tickets, flights, transfers, etc. The tour was of the Greece mainland, the Peloponnese, and the islands of Santorini and Crete – all wonderful. Yannis was our driver/guide/conversational companion and at one point, our savior for the Mainland and Peloponnese part. He was easy going and knowledgeable such that the transit was made that much shorter and that much more interesting since we were always conversing about something while the beautiful Greece mountains passed by our windows. Drivers, guides (except one, but nothing’s perfect), and hotels were all at a level that made it a delightful and fulfilling trip. If you are thinking of visiting Greece and are interested in the history of this great country, past and present, go with Greece Insiders as your tour company – they proved to be of the highest quality, so much so that we are planning our return trip to Greece already using Greece Insiders. Visiting Greece was a bucket list vacation for me.
My husband and I celebrated our 10 yr anniversary in Crete and it was an amazing experience from beginning to end, thanks to Greece Insiders and Julia.

Julia tailored our trip to experience the outdoors and the flavorful cuisine of Greece, which were our top priorities.
Hiking the many gorges Crete has, including the famous Samaria Gorge and eating some of the best food I've ever eaten, was the best way we could have spent our time.

Thanos created a trip of a lifetime for my family and me to beautiful and bountiful Greece! We'll be back, and we'll definitely ask Thanos to design our next trip for us, too. His knowledge and expertise crafted our wish list into a wonderful trip that was well thought out and paced perfectly. In ten days, we travelled to Athens, Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini and Crete. We met wonderful people, ate delicious food, swam in the Aegean Sea, went sailing, hiking and horseback riding, took a cooking class, explored and learned about culture and history on scenic tours while collapsing at night in gorgeous, clean, comfy, lovely hotels. Everything was either a small group or private tour. We were picked up in luxury vehicles and taken care of from the moment we got off the plane in Greece until the time we returned home. If we ever had a question, Thanos and our local contacts we're immediately available to take care of us and ensure that we had the best of care. One time our ferry was delayed and the only reason we knew was because Thanos had sent us a text. All of the passengers around us were relying on him for updates and grateful for his attention and care.

As the person who is responsible for organizing my family's dream vacations, I am especially grateful to Thanos. This was the easiest trip I have every planned. Thanos took our criteria, listened carefully, and asked thoughtful follow-up questions that we hadn't thought of to create a dream vacation for our family of five. Everyone's needs were met from the twenty-year old to the eighty-year-old, from the vegans to the omnivores, from the one who needs air conditioning to the one who likes to sleep with the windows open. We were taken care of during this trip. It was amazing and beautiful! Our senses were full of wonder and in awe of this beautiful country. And, as for me as the organizer, it was the most relaxed I have ever been on a trip from the moment I connected with Thanos to plan the trip to our departure and beyond. That is priceless.

I always think the highest compliment is "Yes!" to the question, "Would you go back?" Our family gives a resounding, "Yes!" to not only returning to Greece, but also to go on additional adventures in Europe because we know that we are in great hands with Thanos. We know that we'll have authentic and meaningful experiences with fabulous people in beautiful lands while having our needs met, so we can relax and enjoy the beautiful moments together.

Bar none the best vacation we have ever been on. Julia from Greece Insiders took care of every last detail. We were given VIP treatment from the moment we touched down in Athens. Our tour guides were knowledgeable, local people. Our trip was customized to our preferences, which, for us, included some unstructured days to get a feel for the local culture and explore Greece! All while knowing we had a lifeline to Julia if we needed help. We came home well rested but we cannot wait to go back and explore all the islands we missed. We just came back from an amazing trip to Greece. We have worked with several travel agencies in the past but decided to use Greece Insiders this time around. We decided to go with them for their good reviews online.
It is always a gamble to deal with a travel agencie you do not see in person.
We were not disappointment with our decision to go with them.
Thanos stepped up to the challenge of putting together an adventure with less than a month notice. Thanos delivered a program that covered everything that we have requested for.
He was in constantly communication with us and was corresponding even when it was late at night (their local time) and on the weekends. He was very patient with the constant inquiries and last minute changes we requested.
He never said no and tried hard to make everything asked for to happen but will advise accordingly when somethings were not practical or feasible to happen.
Everything went very well. He provided a very detailed itinerary that included pick up/drop off time, tour agency details and contact information along with an impressive line of suggested places to eat/dine (complete with descriptions and website links) during our free times.
The accommodations were all outstanding. Thanos arranged for all of our land, air and water transfers. The local tour agencies they worked with were all exceptional and very professional. Everyone was prompt and on schedule.
Thanos continued to check with us during the entire trip. The best part of it all - He took time to personally come meet with us during the trip.
It was truly an unforgettable experience and we thank Thanos and his team for making it all happen.

Our trip designed by Thanos was absolutely amazing. Every detail was meticulously taken care of—from drivers to planes to ferries—so we never had to worry or even think about anything except enjoying our journey. Thanos checked in with us regularly to make sure everything was going smoothly and to see if we had any questions. He was always easily reachable, which gave us great peace of mind.

From the first contact to the the drop off at the airport we felt taken care of. I traveled with a friend (2 ladies in our 60’s). Travel quite a bit out of the U.S. To fell safe is always a comfort. We were heard in what we wanted to do. Excellent service.

Greece Insiders were the best travel agents we could've ever asked for. When planning our honeymoon, we wanted a stress-free, laid-back, yet romantic trip. Elen, planned our itinerary to be exactly what we were looking for. The perfect mix of excursions, tours, and free time as we traveled through Athens, Paros, Naxos, and Santorini! Our favorite part of the trip was probably our sunset cruise with "Sunset Oia" on the last evening of our trip. We were pampered with food and drinks, snorkeling escapades, and the most beautiful sunset to end the night. We were so happy we chose Greece Insiders to plan our honeymoon. We just completed three weeks in Greece and a week in Turkey, all planned by Eleni at Greece Insiders. From our early trip planning conversations until we were home from our trip, Eleni was a rock star. She helped us plan a flawless trip with a nice balance of activities and free time.

During the planning she listened to our preference and adjusted to fit our needs. There were a couple of times when we had questions about a particular hotel or activity and she thoroughly explained why she was making those recommendations. We were always glad we listened to her guidance and relied on her expertise. Every guide, every transfer, every hotel was spot on!

The private tour guides were splendid, extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Our Greece Insider planner and local contact for our trip was also very kind and helpful. There were a few bumps on the tours that were scheduled on itinerary and one issue with our Milos hotel reservation but still really fantastic. We would probably have made different plans on ferry days but having not planned a trip with touring company prior to this we really didn’t know better, we should have tried to schedule ferry rides differently if possible.

My husband and I just completed a two week tour through mainland Greece arranged throurgh Greece Insiders with Elen as our contact. It was a wonderful experience, mainly because the drivers, Panos and Solon were outstanding, and the local guides on each part of our trip were both knowledgable and were happy to answer all of our questions. Maria, the guide in Thessaloniki was especially helpful, arranging admission to the synagogue for us. Panos and Solon took us to off the beaten track locations, and restaurants where only locals eat. Elen was always available to answer questions, and deal with minor issues. I strongly recommend this company for an outstanding trip.

Chris took care of every detail for us. Every luxury hotel, every private tour, every limo. ride, every meal - was beyond our expectations.

Because of Chris’s patience, guidance, and knowledge, my wife, my two teen daughters and I had the best vacation we have ever been on. We traveled, toured and ate our way thru 5 star accommodations throughout Italy with ease and kind interactions with all the people that Chris connected us with.

We used Greece Insiders for our 2024 honeymoon. We worked with Alex and Thanos and both were wonderful. They were communicative and easy to work with. After a quick call, they put together an itinerary that hit everything we discussed and made it easy to make minor tweaks. Before the trip, they were detailed with all of the necessary information. They were communicative during our trip ensuring we got everywhere successfully and the tours met expectations (they all exceeded them). I would highly recommend working with their team if you are heading to Greece!!

We traveled with young kids and we had a wonderful experience working with Greece insiders to help us have a smooth and comfortable trip. Julia went out of her way to help us with restaurant recommendations for my daughter with dietary restrictions. The experiences were thoughtfully picked knowing we had young kids. The entire family had a wonderful time and felt like we had tremendous support along the way.

Our family of 4 (2 teen girls) had an incredible experience in Greece because of the trip planned by Greece Insiders. We love hiking and exploring the natural beauty of a place and felt like they really took that request to heart. I can't recall how many times local people commented on our itinerary and how unique it was - that most people just see the highlights, but that our trip really covered so much more than the typical postcard tour. Lydia spent so much time getting to know us and I felt like all of our guides were handpicked for us and our family's personality! The ease of travel (always on time and wonderful drivers), the perfect location of each place we stayed (...and I swear we had the best room every time), the activities (where somehow we always missed the worst of the crowds), the pacing (enough to keep my goer entertained and my slow paced one rested) - it really was a trip of a lifetime. I could not have asked for a better experience from start to finish. We worked with Elen on a 9 day Greece itinerary (Athens-Crete Santorini). I normally plan my own trips but felt overwhelmed with the land-air-sea logistics of such a trip in a short period of time. Elen has so helpful in tailoring a tour that suited the interest of our family of four, including two teens. She was extremely prompt in responding to all my questions, modifying tours and accommodations, and kept in close contact after booking and while we were in Greece via WhatsApp to make sure we were all set with domestic flight, ferry tickets. Every detail was taken care of so I could just relax and enjoy our time. All land transport was in comfortable and roomy vehicles; all tours were with guides that were informative and took to heart Greece hospitality; and all accommodations were walking distance to restaurants and main attractions. We had an amazing trip. I highly recommend Greece Insiders and would work with Elen again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I wanted help in planning a delayed honeymoon to Greece, and we stumbled upon an example itinerary of a trip to Athens, Naxos, and Santorini that Elen had planned. We had never used a travel agent before, but it was such a good experience I don't think we'll ever be able to go back to trying to plan our own vacations. Elen met with me multiple times to discuss what we were looking for and then planned every detail, making it so easy for us. We got to explore the history of Athens, then relax on the island of Naxos with a beach day and a full-day cruise, then have the best experience in Santorini with a beautiful hotel, fun tour/dinner, and sunset cruise. There is a lot that went into traveling to 3 different locations for our trip, but we didn't have to worry about a single detail- drivers were set up for us for every experience so we never worried about how to get place to place, etc. Truly can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our trip!

I had the pleasure of spending two days traveling with Solon in Thessaloniki and the surrounding area. This is a rare person with great abilities and knowledge so your travel experience will be perfect down to the smallest details. Traveling with Solon was like being with an old friend. Our conversations flowed easily: history, language, regrets, life, and love as we drove through the beautiful countryside. I wanted a trip where I could have quiet moments away from some of the typical crowded touristy spots. Solon knew exactly what I was looking for. My sister and I both have mobility issues and Salon was so considerate and empathic; discreetly offering an arm for support, an outstretched hand up, or a flashlight in the dark.

In Crete, our guide Yannis had a smile that embodies a special kind of hospitality, a universal kindness, a kindness that transcends all words and any culture. Unfortunately, I got quite ill and Yannis not only took me to a pharmacy but came in to help translate what I needed. I had to cancel our afternoon tour. The next day, Yannis drove us from Chania to Herkaklion and when leaving the car, my cell phone fell out of my pocket and wedged itself under the floor mat! When hearing the news, not only did Yannis find my phone, saving all my travel pictures, but brought it to my hotel in Heraklion the next day after he had already returned to Chania! A rare act of kindness that I remember every time I look at my photos.

In Athens, our guide to the Acropolis was Irene; an archeologist! What a rare treat to not just learn the typical data about the Parthenon but the mythology and how science and technology is used in the excavation of sites and the reconstruction of monuments.

There are lots of tours you can choose from where your guide regurgitates a well-rehearsed list of facts. As you can see, these are not the guides of Travel Local.

Xenia in Greece is the ancient concept of hospitality. It is also known as philoxenia, meaning a love of strangers or foreigners and a desire to show them hospitality. I found this spirit of Greek hospitality across the country, in every guide that we had and the many people we met. Their enthusiasm was contagious as they shared stories of the sites we visited and themselves. It was like traveling with old friends.

I highly recommended Travel Local from the bottom of my heart!
