So gumtree you can post free car adds, UNLESS, You keep posting the same car that you haven't sold, and then you have to pay for that add, even if it doesn't sell and you're a private advertise. And once this has been added to your account you cannot get rid of it. i never knew this about gumtree

I had a very disappointing experience with Gumtree’s customer service. Bulelwa D, in particular, was unhelpful, not knowledgeable, and failed to resolve my issue.
My problem was time-sensitive, yet I was left without any solution, and the chat was simply ended without assistance.
Overall, the service was extremely frustrating and ineffective.

I am trying to sell The Bosch Front Brake Pads Set (BOSCH PART NUMBER 0986494246) on Gumtree and the ad cannot be posted because Gumtree system says the ad cannot contain phone number. As soon as you add all the compatible part numbers from other manufacturers, it is identified as a phone number [too many figures = phone number]. Many car parts have similar numbers and formats which are necessary to identify the part, so this is very stupid. Even dates and years are identified as phone numbers. A list of models and years like this: "FORD Galaxy Mk2 (WA6) MPV (Year of Construction 05.2006 - 06.2015)" is identified as phone number and the ad won't be posted!!!

Repeatedly cancelled my ads, lame reasons given. Paid £3.99 for a higher profile ad, unable to contact anyone within customer services, (you try and see if you can), spent ages trying to contact someone and send a complaint, all to no avail. Have lost my money and failed to list my ad. This was a big con and a massive waste of time. No wonder Gumtree has such an appalling testimony on TrustPilot, it seems I'm not the only victim their sharp practice and poor communication set up.

CORRUPTION ON THE HIGHEST LEVEL. This site is literally for the bottom feeders of this planet. Its sole purpose is for sneaky seedy people to get rid of things that they couldn’t possibly shift face to face. Who ever started this site is fully aware of this. How people in Britain allow and use this site shows how low they are. It’s totally for the dark side. In fact everyone I’ve ever heard face to face thats said “il sell it one gumtree has been a lazy scummy person. Well you all like being bad. I’m sure all you snakes dwell happily in this pit amongst each other. Il never advertise here. It makes me feel dirty.

terrible costs money to post ads and get time wasters all the time dont bother using these ..they dont care just take your money.

I will never use this site again. I used it in December 2025. I was looking for a sofa and I came across a site. The guy's name was Starc. He took my money, denied that he had ever delivered the sofas, even though he damaged my property and the 2 delivery drivers also said that they hadn't delivered the sofas either. An absolute con so now I'm £430 down with no sofa. I've had to buy another sofa from somewhere else. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS MAN PLEASE BE AWARE.
To top it all off, I got in touch with Gumtree to tell them what had happened, they basically said, there's nothing that they can do. They advised me to call the police, I did, they said it was a civil matter. I went back to Gumtree told them what the police said, the replied, nothing we can do. At this point I was so upset I said to Gumtree " At least Amazon help their customers if anything goes wrong" I firmly believe that Gumtree should be closed down as a selling site.

Terrible trying to upload something to sell as it tells me every time I’m breaching there policies when uploading pictures and descriptions on what I’m advertising to sell, it tells me they’ve sent me an email to explain why but that’s non existent. Ive tried uploading my item to sell 8 times now with different pictures etc every time I get rejected. Pathetic, terrible website I’ve uploading the same thing FB marketplace with issues whatsoever

Wow what. rubbish site.
It lies through its vile formate to the hilt.

It says contact us there is none, the email address is wrong the live chat does not exsist, you have to phisicaly write a letter to a london address to try to get through toa nyone.

They took ome money from me for 2 adds. DO NOT USE THIS SITE IS IS FRAUD.

They hold the money like a bank and fight off anyway for you to contact. The only access is thier greedy business line, they ALAWAY answert that to try and grab new business.

DO NOT USE THIS AS THIS IS JUST USLEESS TO. THEY ARE INEPT IN EVERY SENSE DUE TO THEIR LIES AND TIME WASTING. These ar eonline thoeves stop using everyone elt them die slowloy

We are taking legal action not for the few quid but just to waste their time resources as i have plenty of both and will follow through to the end....about time they were held to account, idiots.

Hello "Reviewers" I KEEP getting emails from Gumtree saying you have a new message, when I click on it - hit a brick wall (or should I say "a GUMTREE".
I have tried more than once to contack them but the same "GUMTREE" gets in the way, again!!!

Come sort it out!

Can't search for items without it showing items listed hundreds of miles away because they offer delivery. there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO chance I would ever buy like that on Gumtree.
Site is dodgy at best but at least when you go to buy from someone local you have a chance.
can't recommend gumtree to anyone.
I don't even buy from ebay these days so gumtree doing this is madness. are they trying to compete with vinted?

seller keeps relisting the same items that are not allowed this is alcohol
they take it down he relists it at a later date over and over again
should be banned they havent done this why

Poor I am in Dundee scotland got it set for Dundee and 15 mile radius but always comes up with english towns when looking for something

Ok. But sign up / Forget Password process absolutely bad. Waiting since 20 min to reset password. Very frustrating.

They take your payment for a pet advert and then remove it the same day and no refund. This is not the first time they do this, but others are allowed to sell whatever they want.
They also remove item adverts without warning whilst those are allowed on their site.

What a truly horrendous site with some of if not the worst customer services anywhere. They actually remove listings and quote policy's that dont even exist. Its impossible to speak to them and then you look their platform and see over 1100, yes 1100 listings breaking the same non existent rules your listings have been removed for. Like ebay, Gumtree used to be an amazing platform but sadly destroyed by the woke brigade

Pretty rubbish to be honest if your a seller. Ive had brandnew items for sale on this platform since June last year and had only two interests in all that time where both potential buyers want £20 knocked off an item costing £40 as to cover there fuel costs to come collect the item. I mean seriously? If you can't afford your fuel costs then simple answer is to purchase items close to where you live. Gumtree has become a joke to be honest.

Ive put stuff for sale on this website, getting people interested and messaging but all my replies won't send something to do with blocked, never had any problems before,tried to contact customer service to find out why ,no way can you contact then just f&q s, sent email to close accounts, no reply ,thought id close account then reopen new one but cannot do as my e mail address there still open

Absolutely crap and no customer service or support available, all the links on the email they sent me don't exist and there's no way to challenge an item they remove because they think it violated their policy. Definitely won't be using this shit site again.

I’ve just read Alaistairs review and would be interested if he or someone could give me some feedback for a question. I’ve never used any platform for buying or selling but am looking for a folding bike. I’ve found two on gumtree and have messaged the sellers and made offers but have had no replies! Gumtree offered no solutions and my guess is I’m doing something wrong but haven’t the foggiest what it is! I have an account and Gumtree have my email and i can only assume from Alaistairs comment that the sellers have replied but I’m not seeing their responses! Any ideas would be much appreciated.
