I booked my car in for tracking days…

I booked my car in for tracking days before appointment only to be contacted on the day to day they could not do it problem with machine , so they refunded me ,then I had several messages saying can you rebook , so I have them a second chance , it was booked in today Monday 28 th July and once again 1 hour before appointment had a call saying they had to cancel yet another problem with tracking machine , awful service and they asked me to book again ha ha not a chance hopeless set up .

Ripped off

I have just taken my car for an mot and to have my air con fixed, I was charged £851 for 4 hours work and to top it off my air con hasn't been fixed, I contacted customer service and the experience was dreadful after asking to speak to the manager I was put on hold and never got any replies after waiting over 20min I hung up, will never be going back to Halfords 🤬

Extremely disappointing customer experience — I would not recommend Halfords.

The Web Chat team has been entirely unhelpful. All they seem capable of doing is generating case reference numbers. I simply requested an itemised bill, but was told that only a specialised team could provide it. I raised a ticket over a week ago and was assured someone would contact me, as the Web Chat agent couldn’t assist. However, I never received any follow-up.

When I reached out again after a week, I was given the same promise — that the team would get in touch. Yet again, no response. This level of service is unacceptable.

I had Halford windscreen wipers fitted…

I had Halford windscreen wipers fitted by Halfords 2 months ago. One wasn’t fitted properly, when I went back I was told that they couldn’t look at it unless I showed my receipt which I didn’t have. I said that I didn’t have time to scroll through my bank statements so they just put the broken one back on. I don’t expect things for nothing but it would be nice if they had trusted me!!!

Rude Staff Encounter at Halfords Stepney Green

"Disappointing Customer Service Experience at Halfords Mile End"

I have been a regular customer at Halfords in Mile End since it opened, so I was disappointed by my experience during my recent visit. Today, I went in to purchase some items for my car and decided to look at some cleaning products near the exit. I briefly picked up an item but returned it to the shelf just a few seconds later, only to be confronted by a staff member who was extremely rude and aggressive.

His comments about how I was making his job harder were unwarranted and left me shocked. I realized that the item may have been placed just a few millimeters away from its original spot, but the reaction I received was completely disproportionate. When I asked for his name, he was not wearing a name badge and wouldn't provide one.

I spoke with another staff member named Siome about the incident, and while he apologized, it was clear that the first staff member was still very angry. I have attached my purchase receipt to this review so that management can review the CCTV footage.

I sincerely hope that the management at Halfords addresses this issue and provides additional training for their staff in customer service skills. It's important that customers feel respected and valued, and this experience has left me reconsidering my future visits.

I bought a dash cam from Halfords; they also fitted it. This was a mistake. I would possibly buy things from here if I had to, but I will never let them go near my car again.

The most unreliable and unprofessional business I have ever encountered

I had a collection slot to pick up a bike. I showed up on time and was told that the bike had never arrived at the store. A few days afterwards, I haven't received any updates and I decide to give them a call. After a long waiting line, the phone is picked up and I can hear people on the other end chatting and laughing. I keep repeating "hello" and "excuse me, is anyone there". I finally receive a reply in a foreign (non-english) language and they hang up on me. This felt a lot more like a prank instead of customer service. I later called again, waited again and finally there was someone I could speak with. More waiting time and also I was told that I had a new collection time and date that I had not been informed of in anyway whatsoever. All I am asking is for things to work they are supposed to, book a slot, pick up the product I paid for, simple as that. I just moved to London and I had made arrangements for this bike to help me commute to work, I was counting on that and now my daily schedule is being impacted by that. At the end, my issue was resolved having the assistant to transfer messages between me and the store. I don’t understand why it wasn't possible to simply contact the store directly, it would have been a case of less than 1 minute.

UPDATE: I went to the store again for our second allocated collection time slot only to be informed that they were unable to get the bike AGAIN. And they didn't inform me about it AGAIN. This is beyond anything I have ever experienced. They said they will give me a refund. A phone call would have been great.

Abysmal Service

Took my car in for an Air Con re-gas for which I paid £140 up front. The gas lasted 3 days. Staff member extremely rude and told me they don't deal with leaks but for another £70 they could squint in a gel to seal it, which might or might not work. I asked for a refund and was told 'but we put the gas in' and refused a refund. Company website specifically says, "the regas, includes removing the old refrigerant, checking for potential leaks and refilling with the correct refrigerant." In addition,today was my third wasted trip to the branch. 'Chat Expert' AI tool was worse than useless. No contact email. Live chat cut off. I think I'll just go straight to the ombudsman.

Very bad customer service

Very bad customer service. Bought a bike recently which came with a big scratch and dent. Have been trying to get it replaced since the last 2 weeks.Called multiple stores and they just keep forwarding ot to different department. Pathetic!!!!!

Went to halfords garage wade street halifax very rude employee…

Went to halfords garage as sent they by RAC to get my tyre changed.Met by very rude man named james very abrupt rude and got annoyed making facial expressions of being annoyed and diligent.They didn't ask what tyre I want didn't give an option as the people at halford call centre said we have 3 different tyre makes what you require.He said he didn't have them in which is fair but he spoke in a very rude annoying manner.Terrible customer service James your in the wrong job.

I had a horrible experience with these…

I had a horrible experience with these liars at Halfords!

I booked a service with them for a front wheel alignment. I arrived on the first day and they told me, “Sorry, your car doesn’t fit in our workshop.” I said okay, please give me my money back. They didn’t really want to give the money back and convinced me to reschedule for another day in the morning, promising to fix everything in one hour.

I brought my car back as agreed, and at the reception they immediately told me I needed to leave the car for the whole day. I was shocked and upset 😥 but they suggested to come again on Monday morning.

I came back on Monday, and guess what? They told me AGAIN I had to leave my car for the whole day. Total nightmare! I had no choice, so I agreed. After about 5 hours, I was passing by on my bicycle and decided to check how it was going. They said everything was okay and I would get my car before closing. I was happy, but too early!

They called me 30 minutes before closing and told me I had to come pick up my car and come back on another day! I have no words to describe how terrible their attitude is.

These people are completely useless! Total scammers! Never again.

Worst experience I've ever had for service and customer service. Avoid. They lie and do nothing but take ur money. Be aware, please. Customer service exec made it worse, just awful. Thanks Sheldon, for doing a terrible job.

Car health check

I saw two ladies who understood my concerns about driving a long journey and wanting to make sure my car was up to it and safe as I was taking my granddaughters away. They were very thorough and checked my car and even topped up window screen wash and topped air up in tyres- very professional and they knew their job! Well done ladies and a big thank you

Terrible experience

Terrible experience – Faulty bike, poor service, and no accountability

I bought an Apollo Phaze Blue 18, 20 mountain bike from Halfords Greenock in April 2025, and the experience has been consistently disappointing.

Within a few days of purchase, I experienced serious issues: the chain wouldn’t shift to the smallest front gear and derailed repeatedly—often while riding uphill. This posed a safety risk and made the bike unreliable. I reported the fault immediately and returned to the store several times, but staff claimed they couldn't replicate the issue.

Why? Because they only tested the bike suspended on a stand, not under real riding conditions where the problem actually occurs. I even demonstrated that the gears appear to function when the wheel is lifted—but fail under pressure on the road. Still, they dismissed my concerns.

I use the bike lightly—just once or twice a week for short, 2-mile urban rides within Greenock—far below what you’d expect to challenge a mountain bike. Despite that, Halfords refused a refund and told me to pay for a new chain and labour. This, after I’d reported the issue well within the 28-day return period.

To make matters worse, the mechanic who originally recommended the bike later told me the fault was due to it being a “cheap bike.” His manager echoed this. If that’s true, why did they recommend it? And why does Halfords’ website advertise the bike as having “premium components” and “durability at an excellent price”?

You can’t have it both ways. Either I was misled at the point of sale, or the product was faulty from the outset. Either way, I’ve been left with a poor-quality bike, ongoing mechanical issues, and no support despite a warranty and CycleCare Premium cover.

I also consulted local cycling enthusiasts—all agreed the issue should not exist on a bike that’s only weeks old. I’ve since found that others have had similarly bad experiences with the store’s maintenance service.

After escalating my complaint to Halfords' head office, I received a final refusal, telling me they won’t act unless I provide an independent report at my own cost. This completely shifts the burden to the customer, which is unacceptable under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

I am now taking the matter to Trading Standards and RetailADR, and I advise anyone thinking of buying a bike from Halfords to be cautious. They do not stand by their products, and their service has been dismissive, contradictory, and unsupportive.

I had booked a Moble engineer to come…

I had booked a Moble engineer to come out and replace my van battery, paid on top off cost for a time slot. No show in the allocated time slot, rang customer service the next day they apologised and booked me in for the next day between 8.00 and 10.00, now lost 2days work, but agreed on new slot as I could be out working from 11.00 that day. No show rang customer service for what good they make, they informed me they have spoke to the engineer and he should be outside your house. No one arrived that day either complete lie, back on to customer service great title for an absolutely useless service and cancelled, 3 days work lost + had to sort it out myself. I had one standard email informing that they will refund the money. After sending 4 emails asking them how they are going to compensate me for 3days loss off earnings they haven’t responded at time of sending this. If anyone is reading this and thinking of using the service beware you will just give your self stress & hassle.

Avoid

The tyre centre(Eastbourne) and the discount of the P7s was Great. The issue was the online booking service which failed after payment which took 3 days and 3 hours to sort. HQ then forgot to order the tyres which left me without a car for 2 days. HQ do not return calls or emails even when you complain. Never again

Halfords customer services is the worst…

Halfords customer services is the worst I have ever experienced. I made a purchase online & updated the shipping address on the phone to Portsmouth Ferryport. They sent it to Stoke. I’ve had multiple live chats, emails & phone calls & all I’ve obtained is a case number & empty promises. “We’ll call you within 48 hours”; didn’t happen. “I’ve escalated as high priority. We’ll call you by the end of the day”; didn’t happen. 2 follow-up emails the next day & complete silence. CS is now closed for the day. Absolute shower😡

I’m extremely disappointed with both…

I’m extremely disappointed with both the service and build quality I received from Halfords after purchasing four bikes, all marketed as high-quality models at a premium price point. I even paid extra for Halfords’ build service, expecting a professional standard. What I got instead was a frustrating experience from start to finish, and unsafe bikes that clearly were not assembled by specialists.
I purchased the bikes on a Sunday, and was told they would be ready for collection by Wednesday. However, after making payment, the collection date was changed to Friday. I accepted the delay, but when I arrived on Friday, none of the bikes were ready. I called Halfords' main line and was informed the store manager would contact me but I never received a call.
I returned on Saturday, and again, the bikes still weren’t built. I finally went back on Sunday, assuming that with a full week and the bikes in stock, the build would be completed and of a good standard. Unfortunately, this was far from the case.
All four bikes were built poorly and inconsistently. There were loose nuts, crooked handlebars, improperly secured built-in stands, and reflectors fitted upside down or in the wrong place. To make matters worse, two of the bikes were identical models but were assembled differently.
After just one day, the brake pads on my toddler’s bike fell off. A week later, on another bike for my 5-year-old, the entire front brake mechanism, which had clearly been left loose, came off while riding downhill, causing her to lose control & crash into bramble bushes. It was frightening, dangerous, and completely avoidable.
This experience has shown that Halfords staff are not bike specialists. These are general retail employees being tasked with assembling bikes, including children's bikes where safety is critical. As the saying goes, jack of all trades, master of none.
For anyone considering buying a bike from Halfords, especially for children, I strongly recommend going to a dedicated bike shop where bikes are built by trained professionals who take care and responsibility for their work. I won’t be returning.
