I’m 83 years old and have RLS as long as I can remember. My doctor prescribed me targin10/5 mg and 75mg pregabalin twice a day. Lately this is not enough I wake up in the middle of the night trashing and twisting my legs . My doctor does not want to increase the Targin, what can I do the nights are so long and out of frustration I start to eat, it takes hours before I can sleep for an other two hours. What can I do?

I’ve been following the forum dedicated to a-fib for about 4 years. I find that it is both informative and reassuring, even though there is a certain amount of fluff as well. There does not seem to be a good equivalent in the US.

After feeing very unwell taking thyroxine and just left by Drs .thyroid uk.has been amazing good advice and support. Explains a lot and without them I think many people would have given up. There's no-one to.ask and Drs don't really know how patients suffer .think it's all so simple it isnt

Being able to share my ups and downs and also lived experiences in a safe & supportive mental health space is so good for me as an individual and hopefully for the other users of Health Unlocked.
There is zero tolerance for bad behaviour and the offenders are blocked.

I don't know about HealthUnlocked as a company, but I do know that the site users in the main are very nice decent people who do their best to help others under the trying circumstances of cardiac problems.

It’s an okay place inhabited by many for whom, sadly, their illness has become their life - and that’s understandable. Others confuse reading spurious articles on the internet with research and repeat what they’ve seen without critically questioning the source.
Folk remedies are promoted by some as superior to “ Big Pharma” medicine —forgetting that folk remedies that work become medicine- the others remain in the realm of wishful thinking. Yes, Pharma companies do have issues and big ones too but medicine is based on science which costs to develop and companies are based on profit….
Amongst all this are the few good souls who share experiences and genuinely seek to support those asking questions …despite the repetitive nature of those questions ( as no one seems to be able to use the search function )
The moderators do a sterling job in keeping it from being yet another “angry place” …. Which sadly is what so much of the internet has become.

HealthUnlocked seems to have some very helpful/supportive communities on it. However, the quality/usefulness of each group is completely dependent on the moderators of the groups who are in no way associated with the HealthUnlocked company. So if a group has moderators/administrators who are terrible or who do not do anything to moderate the group then the group will be a mess and completely unhelpful to anyone. Or the moderators might pick and choose who they allow on to join/remain in the group. For example, I joined a pelvic pain support group but was banned from it because I told them I had joined the group because my sister had pelvic pain. The groups' moderators told me that their group was for people who suffered from pelvic pain themselves not family members or friends of people who suffered from pelvic pain. I think this was a lie as there were plenty of other people in the group who explicitly said they had joined to find help for their friends or family members. But, the moderators did not like my sister and so banned me as well because of it, which in my opinion was extremely unprofessional. And, when I contacted HealthUnlocked about this issue I was basically told that they were not going to do anything and that the moderators were allowed to restrict people as they saw fit.

On the other hand, I do think there are some good groups on this website, that do provide some people with a good deal of support. But, I feel the HealthUnlocked company should do more to regulate their own website.

Basically, if you use this website, be careful when joining groups because some of them are awful while others might provide you with the help you are looking for.
