I developed PMR, 8 years ago and although my surgery was very good in diagnosing it, they were obviously unable to give very little information on the day to day management of it. The support, education and up to date information from the PMRGCA charity has been invaluable.

Very informative site; learning the real truth from real, relevant patients' experiences and open research. Their philanthropic attitude is much appreciated, helping so many others on this forum with their time and knowledge!
Does make me angry, though, that GP's are forced to? work to ICB/NHS guidelines which, in some conditions, doesn't follow NICE/BNF guidelines.
Thank goodness this site exists! Many patients would be lost or have worsened conditions without it!

This place is safe and clean, one can express self feelings and experiences with no judgement or critic from anyone.
Moderators are discreet and only act whenever needed, the community being adult enouh to self regulate.

I have been on this site for a long time and it seems to run smoothly most of the time. Its a good place to seek advice from fellow sufferers and have a chat. As the saying goes a problem shared is a problem halved and it covers many health matters.

It’s a great comfort to be able to interact with others who have had similar experiences. There is little contact from the medical professionals and so this group gives me the reassurance I need.

Belong to many groups on MPNs. This group is by far more informative than any of the others.

Brilliant informative site for thyroid issues with amazing input from a huge variety of people willing to share their lived experiences and gained knowledge.
Ability to openly discuss issues, supplements, remedies and realize you are not alone... fantastic sharing experience whether you want to get really technical or just have a good old rant, there will be someone there for you

The MaleCare-managed "Advanced Prostate Cancer" forum, deployed on the USA-based HealthUnlocked platform, is the best prostate cancer forum in English that I have found. (Health Unlocked supports forums for other cancers as well.) The MaleCare prostate cancer forum is very well moderated. There are ads, but they are not distractingly in your face all the time. Most importantly, the volume of intelligent comment is high. I visit probably multiple times a week. (Also there doesn't seem to be a lot of so-annoying "feel good" hype.) I looked at a few other forums, including one that you would think given my circumstances I would want to participate in. But the volume isn't there and/or the forum is awkward to use, or the forum is dominated by too-much low-information empathy. I'm here for the knowledge and the experience, not the empathy of a stranger (although In fairness there are some powerfully moving interactions on the forum). MaleCare's Health Unlocked is good content from real people engaged in serious, informed and thoughtful dialogue, and in a decent setting. Efficiency, focused content and ease of use are important to me - because "time is short"🙂. Bravo MaleCare and HU.

Some Communities are very poorly Admined
No Communication takes place between members and Admins they do not reply which makes you feel you do not matter
Very hard to contact Health Unlocked as well and rare they reply to
Members mostly are supportive it is Admins and Health Unlocked itself that let members down and for this reason would not recommend

The quick.replies that help.youbto understand what you are going through. Practical help from others who have experience in person.

This site is a very helpful and informative site, giving experience of others suffering Thyroid conditions. It helps get important information to people who need it and that is not given by NHS. The only thing I would like added is the date on each post, to make the information given more relevant to the post.

Seems like the worst of Social Media but about health. Constant prompts and surveys asking for your health information so it can be harvested for private health companies to profit from. Poor advice on the forums from people who live in different countries, where different drugs and treatments may be provided to what is approved here.
Like all Social Media, if it's free, ask yourself if you are the product being sold.

Well, HU used to be a place, where a variety of users input, thoughts and information were freely expressed and accepted. It allowed a very wide view of cancer care and allow searching within SOC and cutting edge therapies along with Complimentary Alternative Medicine and holistic paths. It was packed with useful information.

But no more... It appears there are egos that are in control and disallow any content they feel isn't acceptable. Heaven forbid you offer an contradictory experience or thoughts to posts by those in control, your posts are deleted, you get shut down, banned. And not because you did anything other than offer a view from a different direction, not even anecdotal, but personal experience is suggested in the site's own rules, but will be shouted down as non contributory, not fact based, science supported.

It's sad and a sorry state of affairs. I've been on the internet since it's early days, and involved in forums, since bulletin board days and 1200baud modems. Never, ever have I experienced the censorship and ridiculous administration activities I've seen at HU. Also troubling is the disappearance of entire threads with a host of information posted by users, because it's removed by admin that believe it to be objectionable. Again, problematic because some of that information is useful to other users.

So just beware, that there is aggressive adminstration with wanton enforcement contrary to the site's own rules! Doesn't matter, they control access, content and information. Period! So use at your own tolerances for being controlled and the information being pushed at, you being controlled as well. It's all good, as long as you're aware what's occuring there at HU.

I don’t trust this site. Be careful who you are sharing your medical info with.I would recommend you do your own research and make your own informed decision before trusting any organizations with their controlled information.
In my experience any post not towing the ‘party line’ gets shut down or removed by their ‘admin police’ Word of warning never ever speak negatively of ‘The Vac cine’ you will be immediately sent to a virtual court then jail . Very suspicious. Again do your own research … if you follow the money it soon becomes pretty clear whose benefit this business is for … IMO.

I have no idea what happened but please let it go and move on. I have never seen bullying and if I did I would report it. Some apologies never come. This is unhealthy for you. Please take care of yourself and do whatever you need to do to get better.

HU is a great platform, filled with people who look out for each other. It has more of a family feel to it than anything else. I really like what I've seen lately, and that is HU and the moderators pulling together to keep its communities safe.

i am tired of the drama and the false accusations and things you accuse members of never in my time on HU have i ever seen a member use multiple accounts for revenge of very kind and sweet members of this community . the fact that you continue this behavior disgusts me and the whole other members of this kind and thoughtful community . I do not care if you see this its the time for me to not stay silent and be the strong person that i have been and always will be . You have affected so many members of this community including me and the people that i care about and love . i will never be afraid of speaking up for people NEVER AGAIN !!.
