Liquidators

We too have been let down by Heartland Interiors. We ordered a bookcase in March and was due for it to be delivered the day after they went into liquidation.

Fortunately, we have found the liquidators and have made contact with them. They are Bridge Stones in Oldham.
Hope this helps other people who are in the same position.

Disappointed and angry!

Like many others, I placed a made to measure larder late 21 Feb, paid in full £900 and did not hear anything from them till I rang them to find out what’s happening. I was told 25th June was the delivery date and that they were going to send an email to confirm it. Only by chance that I saw this page and saw all these messages. I’m fuming!!! Will get in touch with my credit card company and I hope I can recover my monies!!

Details of liquidator?

I am in the same position. I was expecting my bookcase to be delivered on 17 June. It did not come.

Does anyone know the details for the liquidators? My bookcase is finished as I had an email thread with Adrian about the measurements for the cut-out of the light switch. I would like to know if it is possible to acquire the bookcase as it is bespoke and purpose-built for my wall.

Angry Pensioner

Just seen on this website that Heartland Interiors have ceased trading!! This explains the lack of response to my emails and calls re delivery w/c 18th June!! Not sure what to do now because although I finally received delivery of 2 bookcases in January this year, over the following months the finish on them rapidly deteriorated and I was supposed to be receiving delivery of 2 new replacements in a different finish. Given that these bookcases cost over £500 and as a pensioner I can not afford any more I am angry that it looks like I will be left with a defective product!!

Ceased Trading?

Bought a clearance item on 14th and apart from order confirmation have had no communication. I am pleased I've found the information on here and am attempting to cancel Paypal payment.

Equally disappointed...another order delayed to w/c 18 June & nothing

Very similar experience to recent reviews...cabinet ordered 19 March, had to chase late May after overdue with no communication/update...H/L apologised & advised delivery revised to w/c 18 June as below...like others only found out about company ceasing as website down & start of these worrying reviews. Tried to telephone, but line no longer available. Hundreds of preciously saved pounds & great inconvenience. If there was communication/explanation & apology it would be a step to damage limitation, but nothing. Progressing with credit card company, taking my also precious time.

Bookcase ordered on March 19th

We also order a bookcase, coffee table and side table on 19th March, thankfully we received the tables in early May and when I chased the bookcase was told it would be delivered in June, it seems everyone had the email about delivery on w/c 18th June. Luckly we order and paid through Dividebuy so have spoken to them and should receive a credit for £700 bookcase. Now where do we get another one from! Surely having ordered in March this should have been in production and made by now.

Mega Disappointment and No Communication from Heartland

I can't add much more than others - they took my order and money a little over a week ago and the only way I find out by chance that they ceased trading is here. No notice posted on the website to explain, it's just gone! Companies House takes weeks to update apparently, but someone said the London Gazette should post an insolvency notice online within 7 days. I already contacted my credit card company and they sent me a form to complete to claim under Section 75. I'm just waiting to see if Heartland Interiors reply to my email to officially tell me for sure what's happening.

Heartland Interiors Have Ceased Trading!

Sadly I can confirm that Heartland Interiors ceased trading on Thursday 14th and the receivers were due in on Friday 15th June, 2018.

I am a customer who was extremely lucky to get my desk with integrated easel delivered back to me that day after being in for repairs for two weeks. I paid for it in February, received it numerous weeks late at the end of April, and had it exactly a month before it was collected to repair the warping oak easel.

It was only the good will of the driver, Gary, that ensured I got it back, because he was only told on the phone they had ceased trading at 3pm and it was up to him if he wanted to complete deliveries on his van.

Gary said that everyone was sent home on Thursday at 3pm, the main website and other sites were taken down and all the phone lines were shut down too. None of the staff knew they were losing their jobs, accept the directors, David Giles and Jon Giles!

I am one of the lucky ones, but David Giles refused on numerous occasions to speak to me, despite the delays and subsequent defect in the product. If they were still trading, and despite getting my desk back, I would not recommend Heartland, even though their designs were excellent.

I feel so sad for all the people with outstanding orders - I was told by the driver that Heartland had a thick pile of papers containing new and outstanding orders, so I do hope that the company is sold to someone who will be able to fulfil the existing orders and repairs.

I am also very sorry for the staff, who were all kept in the dark, till the end!

Further investigation / information

Also, they are no longer listing products on eBay. I've accessed their eBay shop via an item I was watching and again nothing listed but their feedback information is still available if you are interested. Looking at their Companies House data, I note a change of accounting period from 31 Aug 2017 to 28 Feb 2018 thus no accounts returns due until 30 Nov 2018 with the most recent on 31 Aug 2016!! Their most recent statement of 4 Aug 2017 says nothing and on 24 Apr 2018 confirmed the change of accounting period.
Two change of records detail documents dated 15 Aug 2017 confirmed sufficient shares were transferred from father to son - Mr John David Giles to Mr Jon David Giles.
Was this to make the business look better to sell or to defer the inevitable??
Their statement for their Made in Britain membership makes interesting reading (whilst it remains in place)

Patchy communication.

Patchy communication made me slightly suspicious, however I believed them when they said this was due to concentrating on manufacturing. I have since learned from another firm on the same Trading Estate that this company may, and I emphasise may, have ceased trading on the morning of 14.6.2018. I suggest you check this out for yourself.

Have you gone bust?

Placed an order for a bookcase on 6 May with website advising 3 week delivery timescale. Phoned after 3 weeks having heard nothing only to be told it wasn’t ready and fobbed off with vague promises to contact when the item was ready for delivery but no indication as to timing.
Now 15 June and still have heard nothing. Tried to access the website today - gone. Facebook page - gone. Telephone number - answer phone. Really getting very frustrated and concerned that this business is going under. If we can’t get a response to the last resort email we sent in the next day or so then will have to contact credit card company to get a refund and source a product elsewhere.
Really not good enough.

I ordered a bespoke bookcase in March

I ordered a bespoke bookcase in March, no communication until I pushed them. Then they said they may be delivering w/c 18th June, I confirmed what days I would be available as requested, nothing back. I chased this and they said it was in planning, then nothing...I tried to call them today no answer on any phone line, their website is just showing error, I sent in email asking them to respond nothing. I think they may have gone bust...what a shame, they take your money leave you three months and then nothing. I doubt there will be anyway of getting the money back.

Communication!

So this is the 3rd time I have bought from heartland interiors. The previous 2x I would definitely have given 5 stars - product being brilliant, competitive prices for bespoke items and delivered on time by a great team of guys.

This time I ordered a bespoke wardrobe which I have now received after a lengthy wait of about 12 weeks. Once again I can't fault the product and your delivery team who were amazing at getting a very large heavy items into our bedroom - can't thank them enough.

The main reason for only 3 stars is the lack of communication. I had to contact Heartlands multiple times to try and get an explanation/delivery date but was told very little, only eventually getting a date when I threatened to cancel my order. Having paid in full, nearly £1600, I was getting extremely scared and stressed that the company was going to fold and I was going to lose my money. Obviously that hasn't happened and I have eventually received a really nice product.

I'm annoyed for you Heartlands as I had been planning on getting you to make more units (kitchen units, bookcases) as I'm doing up an entire house, but the lack of communication really has worried me and I'm not sure what to do.

It's such a shame that you are now having to do damage control with all your responses to negative reviews below - energy that should have instead been used to contact people in a timely fashion when you must have known there would be a delay. Most people are reasonable if kept up to date and given an explanation.

Just hope things are getting better for you. I want to buy British quality craftsmanship which is what you do best.

Thank you a very bemused repeat customer

Glad you happy. Again, however, this was a bespoke item of furniture which attracts a longer lead time. We do talk about additional delays for bespoke work on our website and in email confirmations sent upon ordering. Completely understand the communication aspect of the wait and are working to improve our service all the time with additional backroom staff but again as mentioned here a lot of the additional waiting recently is the knock-on effect of a horrendous winter. Wagons trapped in the snow. Staff unable to commute to the factory. A traffic collision with one of our vans (no our fault) which saw the van written off and one of our delivery crews injured and taken to the hospital. We are back on track now and ploughing into our order book and working hard to drive down our waiting times. Do we hire more staff to communicate to our customers during these freak weather occurances or do we hire more cabinet makers, finishers and delivery staff? We have done both in recent months. All this while trying to keep prices as low as possible all year round with no gimmicky sales tactics.

3 Months no unit

3months now I have been waiting to receive my unit. I did get an email 2 weeks ago apologising for the delay, after emails chasing them up for a delivery date.
I understand that your priorities are not the office and that it is in the workshop getting it all made. But from my experience you have failed in both. Communication in letting me know that my product was going to be so late and to give me the option (if wanted) to cancel and go elsewhere, and in the workshop as my unit is 12 weeks on and I have had no contact from you? It’s a 3ft x 5ft bookcase, I know you don’t want to jump the queue (as you say there is) but this is ridiculous.
As said I have yet to receive my unit and have found the whole thing extremely stressful. I don’t know if I will ever receive my item and if I am just having a fast one pulled on me.
You cannot take people’s money and run massively over the your given lead time and then make NO contact with YOUR customers other than with a late reply when chased stating things are happening in the background and your unit will soon be with you!! And then nothing FOR WEEKS!
I should not have had to keep chasing you up waiting for a response.
Obviously I can’t rate the product as I don’t have one.
just a few hundred quid down and a whole load of stress.
Thanks heartland

Edit 02/05/18

In response to Heartlands answer below.
I have since this review been give an estimated week for delivery, which by that time will have been 15 weeks!! Not quite the 6-8weeks, 8 being max.
I just hope it’s worth it! Reading some of the reviews below there seem’s to be no doubt your work is good and worth the wait but this has been to long. Yes mine was bespoke which you are specialists in from your site.
I for one would have no problems paying more for a special unit. My biggest hate is not knowing what is going on. Communication is very simple to keep up and if I had an email from you every now and then to keep me informed I wouldn’t have cared about time so much. But I’ve had to chase and chase.
So if you have got that sorted heartland then all good.
I look forward to getting my delivery contact ideally before the week of 21st May

Gentleman has his delivery date now and already knows how sorry we are for the longer than usual wait. As we’ve already posted in here, it’s been a really long hard winter for lots of perfectly genuine reasons and yes, we really do have a build queue which we treat with great respect. In fairness to ourselves we should also say that although we didn’t charge for the extra work in building to custom sizes, this was a bespoke order which involves a different and slightly longer pathway through our systems into a different queue. We now have extra joiners, have poached an experienced Customer Support manager from a much larger firm and a logistics and distribution expert from HM Armed Forces, so we’re throwing ourselves into solving all the problems that have made a very small proportion of our greatly valued customers so angry with us. We are catching up now, just not quickly enough for everyone I’m afraid, and of course more backroom staff may nudge up prices in the future.
