Not to use again

The cleaner arrived 1h late and didn't want to do the cleaning properly.
Took 2 pauses for smoke, yet, I was charged 30min extra to what I had paid because she left 30mn after the paid time (meaning, 30min less of cleaning and an extra charge for her tardiness)
She made complaints about everything including my flat being rather large, the company she works for, the pay she gets...
Do not intend to use again...

Avoid this company at all costs

The first time I booked a cleaner with Homejoy, no-one turned up. However, I got in touch with them and they arranged for another cleaner to come the same day. She did a good job, and so we decided to give them another chance. We booked the same cleaner for yesterday morning (22 December) to clean our house in preparation for Christmas, but she didn't turn up. I tried to get through to someone at Homejoy by phone (over an hour listening to music) and although I've emailed them 3 times, nobody has got back to me. We felt let down big time. When Homejoy works, it's fine. But it's completely unreliable and the customer service seems to be non-existent.

Avoid

We had some very good cleaners through Homejoy, but instead of sending the same one each week who knew our house and pets they decided to send different ones, when we tried to have the same cleaner is said they were not available in our area?! No attempt to contact us to ask if we could change our cleaning times.

Sent one girl who rearranged the flat so much (belts in hats?) that we didn't know where things were. Also asked if she could have a cigarette on the balcony which I didn't mind, but I asked her to make sure the door was closed so that our pets didn't get out and door was wide open.

Next random that came along put the a big fabric reusable bin for the recycling in the bin which we had to dig out. Either threw away, or who knows, a full bottle of shampoo and other toiletries that were part full. Worst of all a Christmas present went MISSING from a room she was not supposed to go into. Turned flat upside down looking for it and could not find it. She was the only person that had been in the flat other than us. When we contacted Homejoy they wasted our time trying to get us to register the complaint online where the form repeatedly did not work, we informed them on Sunday and it was not Thursday they replied saying the cleaner was away. Useless and made the stress worse, now have to file a police report and Christmas time when we have a thousand other things to think about.

DO NOT USE HOMEJOY. You would have thought that the way they portray themselves through the website they are trustworthy, vet their staff and make clients lives easier but no, no vetting, now accountability. When we contacted them a response came saying that if their is no receipt then they can only cover up to 25% of estimated value of good if a police report is suffice. After their cleaner came a present we had a receipt for went missing, my only relief is that it was not jewellery given by a grandparent; there would have been no home of getting it back, or being compensated. Do you really want to take the risk of people like that in your home and missing items, then having to deal with a company that could not care less? AVOID!

Unprofessional and careless!!!!

I had a dreadful service with this company.
As extremely busy person I have required this cleaning in order to tidy up the house for some important guests we were expecting and guess what - we ended up with paying for something we did not receive!

Despite all the priorities and instructions the cleaner did not do a very good job, we found so many missed corners and sports! This lack of customer service and training of their cleaners caused me more problems than you can imagine! I could say I was disappointed and the cleaning was poor! While the cleaner was nice and friendly I believe they should train their staff before sending them to people's homes!

I wrote to complain and request my money back but was offered a recovery cleaning that was unacceptable for me as I already took care for the cleaning and definitely will not use them again. When I wrote them back insisting to receive the compensation I am looking for nobody bothered to call me or to write me back. Further more they continue to spam me with feedback e-mails and even in one of them was written to evaluate the agent with whom I spoke to. But guess what, NOBODY CALLED ME EVER so how can I evaluate him?

Do not use them at all, they don't care for the quality and have no sense for customer service.

UPDATE 19 DECEMBER: O well, you asked me to send you mail. I did it and this was the 4th or 5th time I did so and again no reply. You are completely useless and your service is RUBBISH!!!!

Great Job

A cleaner from Homejoy came to my home and did a great job, she stayed longer than was paid for. Which I suspect is not normal and shouldn't be expected, but just goes to show the care taken over the work.

Will definitely be using them again.

Professional and efficient!

One happy customer

Extremely happy with my visit from Homejoy. Corina arrived on time, was warm, trusting and listened to what was required. Nothing was too much of an effort for her and she was happy to carry out all tasks to a very high standard.
Pleasure to come home to a very clean home indeed.

Very good service

Very thorough clean and friendly cleaner who importantly spoke English. Tried Handy recently, but their cleaner didn't even turn up, so will be sticking with Homejoy from now on!

Homejoy returns your home back into a home that's a joy to be in.

The homejoy cleaner arrived and introduced herself, asked what needed to be done and straight away got into doing the cleaning.
She was so quick, wasting no time, she cleaned put things away and left with everything looking shiny and clean.
I highly recommend them, prompt, efficient and value for money.

good website, customer and cleaner

mostly well designed website, quick response from customer service and the cleaner that came was professional. 2 points for for improvement, I had a voucher to use. The discount does not show until after book the appointment which makes you feel like it hasn't worked but it does. It's difficult to find a appointment during what I assume would be peak times.

Quality clean, but pricey

I have used HomeJoy twice now; both times the quality of the clean was very high. I like that you can set your own dates and times for the cleaners to arrive, though I would prefer overall to have a long-standing relationship with the cleaner and allow them to have a key, so I don't have to be at home to let them in.

For all the convenience, it is an expensive rate per hour, and I feel that the autocalculated time required for the property, based on number of bed/bathrooms is a bit generous, making it overall a very expensive option.

Good business idea

Elizabete was timely and courteous. Her service was good. However, your headquarters failed to equip her with a vacuum cleaner. I hope that it will not happen again, especially when I specified needing one time and again at booking.

Good cleaning but needs some guidance

Firstly, the cleaner came a bit late but it was within the 30 minutes that I was supposed to allocate for travel. That was ok.
She had some of her own cleaning supplies and used my hoover and other cleaning things such as sponges and some cleaners. I assumed that the cleaners were going to provide everything themselves but it seems that it is not so.
She was very thorough with my bathroom and that was pleasing. However, in my bedroom and kitchen, she did not wipe down any appliances or tables. She just used a hoover on them and that did not remove all the dust off my jewellery boxes. For example, my kettle and microwave were not wiped down as I could still see fingerprints on them.

I have booked another appointment and I hope that this cleaner will be better than the previous one.
