Incompetent

My husband accidentally smashed the outer panel of our Hotpoint oven door. Annoying, yes, but he’s an engineer, so he did the responsible thing and ordered the replacement part directly from Hotpoint using the exact model number from the appliance. The part arrived quickly, which turned out to be the only competent moment in this entire saga.

When he went to fit it, the panel was so wildly the wrong size (off by around 300–400mm) that it was obvious something was fundamentally wrong. After two painfully unhelpful live chats, Hotpoint insisted it was the correct part and suggested the issue must be with the manufacture of the outer door panel itself. In other words, their own product was made incorrectly, yet somehow we were the ones expected to sort it out.

Instead of taking responsibility, they issued a return label and made us pay again for a second part, promising a refund only once the first was returned. For a mistake that originated entirely with them, this is shockingly poor service.

The second part arrived today and unbelievably, Hotpoint managed to make things even worse. They sent the inner door glass instead of the outer panel, and the packing label wasn’t even for the part we ordered. At this point, it’s hard to tell whether this is incompetence, disorganisation, or simply a complete lack of care, but whatever it is, it’s unacceptable.

Meanwhile, we’ve been left without a working oven for days, trying to feed a family using nothing but a hob and a microwave because Hotpoint can’t manage the basic task of sending the correct part for their own appliance. This isn’t just inconvenient, it’s disruptive, expensive, and entirely avoidable.

We now have to call again tomorrow, and based on the pattern so far, we’ll probably be charged yet again for whatever random item they decide to send next. The whole experience has been a masterclass in how not to treat customers.

Avoid Hotpoint for spare parts if you value your time, your money, or your sanity. Their service has been nothing short of appalling.

Hotpoint spares rip off

There are two control knobs on my Hotpoint built in oven. One to select fan, grill etc, and the other is the temperature knob. Unfortunately the temperature knob broke off so I contacted Hotpoint spares to find a replacement. I was told that the part would cost £40 plus £17 postage. I decided to look elsewhere as £57 for a small piece of plastic seemed ridiculous.
I found the item which matched the serial number for my oven on eBay for £6.99 for two plus free postage!
It fits perfectly and I have a spare.

Atrocious service

I bought a HOTPOINT cooker in January 2025.
In August the inner door C00704396 shattered.
On August 29 a HOTPOINT engineer order the part.
HOTPOINT have no stock.
Estimated time of arrival to HOTPOINT is 28 days after 30 August.
So no oven for at least month.
Contacted HOTPOINT - they don’t care.

Non-existent customer service

On the website it clearly states:

"Our dedicated consumer service team is also ready to assist you over the phone. We're committed to quickly getting you the right part, so your appliance is back up and running in no time."

This is a complete and utter lie.

I found the exploded drawing that covered the parts I wanted. However, when I clicked on one of the parts, for some reason it then offered me two different parts. Unfortunately, neither of these had a photograph or proper explanation.

So I phoned the order line. However, this line is not staffed by knowledgable advisors - merely order takers! I could place an order if I knew what part I wanted, but I was phoning for advice because their website was unclear.

The "helpful" minion told me the way to get help was to use the online chat on the website, which I did. Eventually, after having battled to convince the annoying bot that I wanted to speak to a real person, I got put through to someone little better than the bot. He told me he couldn't help - I would need to speak to the parts department. He gave me a number different to the one on the website, which I rang. I got a very familiar series of annoying questions, before being put through to another order taking minion who, like the first, was utterly clueless about any of the parts he was taking orders for.

So, far from being "committed to quickly getting you the right part", the company couldn't be more obstructive if it tried.

If this review was for incompetence in dealing with the public, I could give them full marks!

Sadly, not an experience I would ever want to repeat, and therefore I would be reluctant to buy any products from this company in the future

Disappointed

Where do you start with what went wrong. Take your money pretend that your custom is important to them. Leave you 6 weeks without a washing machine. Kept cancelling appointments. Trying to speak to someone takes hours and they can’t do anything when you get through.
So disappointed Hotpoint used to be a good name and brand. They need to up their game if they want to remain in business. Come on guys you can do better!!

Purchased a Double Oven (Brand New)…

Purchased a Double Oven (Brand New) that advertised and has sticker on door 'Free Parts for 10 Years' I did not realise to be eligible for this after the 12 months period you need to take out cover with Domestic and General or the supplier you bought it from to be eligible for the 'Free Parts' so I needed a clip for the door and as I hadn't taken out cover I needed the engineer to come at a cost to get the part free! Beware if you are purchasing for 'Free Parts' as they are not.

I ordered a spare part

I ordered a spare part, paid £13 for next day service, to find out they used Evri to send me the item.
3 days later no item.

Why say you provide your customers with the best service when the email provided after the sale bounces back.
The contact number provided is too busy to accept calls
The online chat agent suggested for me to contact Evri when i'm not the account holder of the booked shipment.
Then online agent gave me a number for Domestic and General to call, that then told me they don't deal with this query but transferred me back to the number that is too busy to accept calls.
Strange how a insurance company have enough agents to call to sell their insurance cover product but dont have enough agents to resolve the issues of their product

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service.
I ordered a spare part on the phone. A plastic oven knob cost £30. Which turns out to be 14% the price of the oven. Realised I could get it for £10 online. Tried to cancel the order. Given the runaround from one department to the other. Each one wanting my personal details. Wasted an hour on the phone to eventually cancel. Not given an email to confirm cancellation which is annoying.

I tried to cancel the order through their website. The Chatbot was useless. The virtual assistant could not help so I had to wait for and adviser. 15 mins later no adviser appears. Tried to cancel replying to the email order. A straight reply was not possible. There was a contact email address which I tired to reply to. That bounced back several times. Utterly useless.

Do not buy an appliance from Hotpoint

This company has one of the worst after sales service organisations I have come across.
I have tried this morning to order a spare part for a Hotpoint Fridge Freezer but have encountered a brick wall of badly configured non functioning technology saying
Press 1 for this
Press 2 for this
Press 3 for this
Say this ...sorry we don't recognise that post code ...
What muppet has responsibility for supporting and maintaining their own in house IT systems for a start?
Their Interactive Voice Response system needs to be removed and replaced with a human - you know those things with a heartbeat and a brain.
Their front end systems are not functioning correctly as it does not recognise voice or DTMF digits.
Eventually calling another number I got through to a system that said it would send me a text to then chat with Parts Ordering.
The link they sent me was useless and their web server was not recognised.
Pursuing this - I did eventually speak to someone about a part I knew I needed - and could fit myself (as a Chartered Electronics engineer of 40 years) - but needed to check something with their technical support before ordering.
Thing is, they don't have any tech support .......unless you pay £137 up front for a home visit - then parts on top of that.
So for a Fridge Freezer that is less than 2 years old - its a pile of junk.
Don't waste your money and avoid this company.

Hotpoint built in obsolesence?

I have a hotpoint washing machine on which the main drum bearing is failing,(probably the 2nd most likely thing to fail). I would like to buy a replacement bearing, however, Hotpoint have decided to build a machine in which the bearing is not replaceable without replacing the whole drum. The cost of the part is over £200, at that price it is not cost effective to repair. I instead will purchase a new machine, It will not be another Hotpoint.

Awful awful awful service!

We ordered a door for our hotpoint washing machine 5 weeks ago. We have still not received the door. I have rang a lot and was told there was a problem with the delivery company. The last time I rang I was told my order had got lost! No empathy no apology no update at all that there was even an issue! I have to keep ringing. I am still waiting for my order 5 weeks on! I would never order a hot point/whirlpool machine ever again!

Poor service

New Indesit dishwasher was not working. After arguing was replaced with Hotpoint by AO with graphite not white but it was integrated. Hotpoint engineer came to fit new one. Worst service experience I’ve had. Told me I had to get a plumber because the Shut off valve was broken. I argued that it was working ok before he touched it. Eventually after pushing the point it turns out the the sieve on the machine was blocked!! I could have paid a fortune to have a fault rectified that did not exist. Poor service. No apology from engineer.

Don’t buy Hotpoint

Do not buy any Hotpoint white goods! Trust me on this. Tumble dryer, one year old, pump has failed. You can not buy the pump ad a spare part because it comes as a whole unit that costs £481. The tumble dryer cost £408. Absolute con. They also want £119 to send someone out to fix it. So that’s £600 to fix a £408 dryer. Other pumps for other brands of machines are around £15 - £20. Had our old batttered white knight dryer for 16 years wit no money spent on repairs in that time. Hotpoint, what a disgraceful con.

Hotpoint engineer arrived called me a liar and left.

Hotpoint engineer arrived, said I wasn't correct about when the machine broke down. Said the machine was incorrectly installed. Packed his bags and left. Said Domestic and General would contact me. 3 years of maintenance payments and this was my first call-out. Don't waste your money on Hotpoint or Domestic and General.

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service! We reported a fault with our Quadrio fridge freezer that was a known product defect that Hotpoint had been aware of for a decade. They left us without a working appliance for over a month before a repair was arranged. We were denied a claim for food loss and damage to our property resulting from this defect.

Hotpoint claimed that because of the age of our appliance, we didn't qualify for compensation. However, the age of our fridge wasn't the issue, it was their product defect that caused the problem. I will never buy another Hotpoint appliance.
