Beware of fridges without handles

Just two years ago I bought a Hotpoint fridge/freezer for £350. Instead of a proper handle on the fridge door it has an inserted grey plastic strip in the bottom of the door. This has already split from normal, everyday use. I have just phoned Hotpoint spares and been told I would have to buy a whole new door as the inserted panel is not available as a spare part. The operator said he didn't know why this was as he has been phoned about this part many times. I know why of course; why would Hotpoint make a cheap replaceable part available at, maybe, £10 when they can flog you a door for £70?
Ironically we have a 10 year free part guarantee on this item but guess what? The part has to be fitted by a Hotpoint "engineer" at the cost of £110. Bear in mind this charge would be levied if the replacement part was only a fiver! It's a con.
I doubt I'll buy anything from Hotpoint (or its owning group) again, but certainly not a fridge without a proper handle that can be bought for £15 and installed easily by me. Check the spares list before buying is my other warning and don't be fooled by free parts guarantees because free they most certainly aren't!!

Absolutely disgraceful

Absolutely disgraceful. Booked engineer, sat up waiting after a night shift and engineer refuses to come unless I have a negative covid test leaving my family without a working hob. If I get tested I cannot work until it comes back causing me to lose hundreds of pounds. Offered to leave hob outside so engineer can pick it up to take it away and fix, got told they are not a "pick up service" asked for new one sending, they refused. Leaving key worker and my family with no working hob, Absolutely disgusting, I will never ever ever buy anything from hotpoint again. I said I could stand in the garden instantly making my home covid safe, they still refused.

I ordered a replacement bulb for double oven. Provided all my details and an acknowledgement came up on screen. I had to rush away for medical reasons and didn't keep a note of order number. I have had NO email confirmation and despite many attempts to contact via talk/chat this just collapses. The only record I have is the bank payment taken from my account. item is now shown as out of stock. Their communication is useless and website a pigs ear although it looks ok.

Still waiting for delivery.

Ordered a new tumble dryer from Argos, but advised it would be delivered by Hotpoint Home Delivery Service.
Received an e mail from Hotpoint that the planned delivery would be 13th October. Then nothing. No contact. Item not delivered. Poor customer service, wish I had bought from a different manufacturer.

Hotpoint Who? UPDATED Jan 21

Hotpoint Who? I have an American Fridge Freezer which I was very happy with until July. It has developed an intermittent issue with fridge cooling and no one seems able or understands how to diagnose the problem! Let alone getting it fixed. A part was ordered 08/09 and it has still not materialized on the 17/09 for the engineer to install!!! its a flap mechanism between the freezer and fridge i believe. Ever tried chat on Hotpoint IT NEVER WORKS just tried again and calling them. I don't think I have ever got through in less then one hour. After 4 years six months of use its obvious if it goes wrong mechanically scarp it cause its never going to get fixed! and I am begin to think the capability to repair is not there!
UPDATE NOV 20 we gave up on this fridge and replaced it. Lucky we had paid for an extended warranty with the shop we purchased from. I will write a separate review on the shop who were excellent in the end with helping out.

A new washing machine installed May…

A new washing machine installed May 2020 set on fire in our kitchen. Very scary, we have two children under 5s and my wife and I are both key workers. This set off the fire alarms and trip switch. Engineer came out and left saying the circuit board had blown and wires around it had burnt out. He said he’d be in contact later that day. In the last two weeks I’ve contacted Hotpoint 4 times and they couldn’t be less interested or concerned. No one has ever rang me it’s all be me sitting on call queues and waiting for a response. It’s approaching two weeks now and we have no washing machine so with two young children and two key worker parents we are spending allot at the laundrette. I am so upset and angry. I would strongly advise against these products, do your research on line they have dozens of recalls. I have an open complaint and have completed a subject access request. Appalling company who’s product has endangered my family and they’ve literally done nothing. I’ve been waiting for a manager call back in regards of my complaint for two weeks. I will soon be escalating to the ombudsman.

Rubbish service

As a registered gas engineer I order a lot of spares from various companies, and Ive got to say Hotpoint spares is rubbish. Trying to order a thermostat for one of their cookers, when I click on the part I want it advises me to ring them with more information. I've tried several times, recently I was transferred to 4 different departments before getting cut off. I've even sent them an e-mail with the relevant details on but have had no reply (this was over a week ago!) If anyone from hotpoint is reading (Chances!) It's a Hotpoint cooker Model HAG60K, serial number 603316623 and I want the main oven thermostat.

More appalling service from Hotpoint

I wrote about my appalling lack of service or basic courtesy from Hotpoint and D&G earlier this week. They contacted me (via web chat) having seen the poor review telling me they would call me - as with previous experience they didn't !! Senior Management in this business should hang their heads in shame .... disgusting abuse of any goodwill or loyalty to their brand. We have three Hotpoint products all fairly new. NEVER EVER AGAIN will I buy Hotpoint, Indesit or Whirlpool

Daylight robbery

All I wanted to do was check on the status of my part order. After being transferred to three departments I was then terminated. Very efficient at taking your money. No reply to email.

DO NOT PURCHASE HOTPOINT PRODUCTS.

I am surprised by the ratings others have provided. My experience has been awful. The customer service is atrocious. I ordered a simple carbon filter for my cooker hood online. I didn't receive the correct part. A simple problem turned into a nightmare by Hotpoint.

I called the customer support line which has a terrible auto menu system. I was told that they couldn't send out the correct part without me re-purchasing it. When they received the incorrect part they would refund me the original cost.

I had to speak to 5 different people to reach someone who was able to tell me about this process. I am a fare person but am not paying twice for someones mistake. The staff are not interested in their jobs because there is clearly a bad attitude and lack of ownership. This company will go bust and I would warn people DO NOT PURCHASE HOTPOINT PRODUCTS. The competitors are interested in their customers (Bosch, Zanussi, etc) I have other products and never had issues like this.

I was absolutely discussed.

I was absolutely discussed.
I ordered the part in good faith and payed the asking price. It was confirmed by email.
The next day I received another email stating that they required another £109 ,or I could have a refund. Guess which I chose.
