Inadequate packing, poor inventory and poor communications.
We used Hoults to move our home from Morpeth to Dubai, UAE. Complete failure in all procedures from inventory to packing items correctly.
In the words of Hoults "shortfall in our service and especially as your goods have arrived and not all items were present".
I've subsequently been waiting for a call from their management team since 29th July, it is now 5th January 2024!

From the initial consultation call with Megan to the survey and then removals the whole process has been a pleasure completely stress free. Megan has always been at the end of the phone to book and answer queries and the removal lads today were fabulous despite having to move things over the garden fence everything was fine with a smile. They could not have been more helpful. I also have to add the banter from the four guys was just what we needed. They deserve a medal. We moved from Darlington to Norfolk.
We were so impressed by Aron who arrived on time and was so professional. He totally put us at ease.He was so efficient and supportive to our needs. His colleagues both ends that assisted him were late but he still started doing what he could alone.
He was again punctual at the other end although his assistants were again late. I would totally recomend the company for a house move based on Aaron's performance.

DO NOT USE Hoults. What was once a premium removal service is now a couple of people who work for Pickfords outsourcing to man and van services. Charging customers 5 times what they pay their outsourced suppliers with absolutely no value added. Customer service is rude and condescending. Read the google reviews too for more recent experiences to mine.
If you value your furniture or brand-new, furniture do not use Hoults Removals, Newcastle. We were asked if we wanted insurance which we said yes to as it was going in storage for 2 1/2 weeks. We had to fill out a form and put a price value of individual furniture. On the day they came to load the removal van up. They only had one storage container on the removal van which meant that they would have to empty the van and put the rest of our furniture into new containers that were getting built apparently back at the yard apparently. Fast forward 2 1/2 weeks my daughters, brand-new, mid sleeper bed had been damaged, scratched and dented are brand-new, marble table chipped on the corners and the table legs dented and chair legs. It even stated on the removal form that the marble top should be wrapped or a wooden pallet built around it. The person who came to assemble the furniture back together on the day was not the same person so did not know what to do and in the end the original Lad had to come and assemble everything back together. When it came to contacting Hoults about the damage the employee on the phone wasn’t really interested and give me their insurance companies email. After sending endless photos to the insurance company from different angles to pictures with a ruler. They awarded a percentage of damage to brand-new furniture which we declined as it was Disgusting and they don’t even have a contact number for you to talk to them it must be the only insurance company that doesn’t have a phone line. I contacted Hoults and tried to speak to the Ewan the manager he didn’t know nothing about there, only been one storage container on the removal van and wasn’t bothered and was always busy or would never call back when he said they would. Overall really bad customer service and the insurance is not worth the paper it’s written on!
Hoults were clear in their communication before our move and it was convenient using video chat to do the survey. On moving day the team were prompt, polite and hardworking throughout the day and in spite of the rain and weather warning managed to move everything keeping it dry and undamaged. We were very impressed, would definitely use them again.

This is the second time I have used Hoults removals and as the first time the team of removers that moved me were brilliant, they were polite, careful to look after both the properties I was moving from and into. All my belongings arrived safely, they made sure everything was where I wanted it before they left. I would definitley recommend Hoults removals.

Megan's email advised that Hoults was not prepared to consider the damage to my property. There was not a requirement to respond.
A 1 star review still stands, nothing has changed.
From first contact Hoults were terrific. The house survey was efficient and clear with straightforward paperwork to follow. Megan always responded quickly to emails and calls and when she was on leave her colleague Ewan was totally dependable. The team were hardworking and cheerful on packing day - even though things were tricky for me. They were on the ball and fast on move day - and even though there were significant issues with the house I was moving to (sigh!) Hoults managed everything brilliantly. Five star service!

The removals seemed to be going ok, although very slowly

I then started to find things broken, one of the drawers from under bed was propped against wall smashed
**DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY** We hired Hoults to Pack, Move, Store and deliver our belongings to our new home and also took out there insurance. When our belongings were delivered two parts out of three for our expensive TV. were broken, Playstation 4 smashed, Sound Bar totally trashed, a chair missing and many other issues. They even used our curtains as packing material. The fight we are now having with the insurance company is terrible. They are trying every which way possible to not pay out. We have and are being treat like 2nd class citizens, and this is still ongoing after nearly 4 months. The service you buy is certainly not what you get!!!!!.
Update : We have now been told that as far as the Hoults area manager is concerned, it is not a Hoults problem even they caused all the damage and loss and we just need to take it up with the insurance. They have even admitted that our belongings should of went straight into a secure container at the time of packaging for storage, which they didn’t as sent a different type of wagon. I wonder if the area manager would feel the same if it was his belongings that had been trashed and stolen. Apparently the don’t have cameras monitoring the storage, so not sure it can be claimed to be secure storage.
This was a late decision to go with Hoult’s after a rival applied undue pressure whilst negotiating a late exchange, Megan could not have been more helpful and de-stressed our predicament. Andrew and his team turned up Monday and were a joy, so professional, hard working and a credit to the company, so so pleased we went with Hoult’s, who were the most competitive as it turned out. Shame this is likely to be our last move as we would definitely use them again. Thank you Hoult’s

Hoults were fantastic from start to finish, our original quote was quick, professional and very competitive, the staff over the phone get back to you quickly if you leave a voicemail or send an email. We used their full packing service and the lads who initially did that were super efficient. We moved over three days and during that time got to know the lads who were super kind, helpful and extremely polite, even asking permission to use the bathroom. Ryan in particular was fantastic but all of the gents were genuinely fantastic and worked very hard throughout-the whole team was amazing, thank you 🙏🏼
