I recently purchased a new build and was finding odd issues here and there on a weekly basis. The builders then moved on to a new build and I was left with no one to reach out to regarding the issues. To take things to the next level I checked for a snagging survey company, checked on the reviews in Trust Pilot and boom I found housescan! Wow where do I begin! Robin was awesome, so professional and helpful. The quality of my reports amazing. Now the challenge begins, but this time I’m not just armed with words, I have a super weapon and they are going to take note ;)
An excellent service
An excellent service. I am based overseas and was unable to view the property myself. The developer advised that they thought the service was unnecessary and they would do their own checks.....of course I did not trust this. The service was easy to arrange and the communications were excellent from HouseScan - I could manage this all easily from overseas via email. A total of 70 snags were found in a small 2 bed apartment. The report is very clear and enable the developer to report as each snag is addressed. I will definitely use the service again and recommend it highly.

HouseScan have been a pleasure to deal with. They were professional, efficient and very knowledgable. Our inspector spent around 4-5 hours at our property checking every little area of our house. He picked up things we hadn't even noticed living there for a month. The report was ready less than 24 hours after the inspection. Great service and would recommend to anyone. Thank you. :)
Brilliant service
Brilliant service - Mark went above and beyond expectations (even helped us find where to mount the tv onto the wall) he was super respectful and worked around me working from home. Got the report the same day and I’m impressed how much was found - well worth the money and a must have for any new build.

I’ll say I had really high expectations for this service due to the great reviews but I am beyond impressed! Julie who did our inspection was great, so respectful in your home, had lots of knowledge and really cared about getting my home up to the standard it should have been, which I appreciate massively. The girls in the office are absolutely lovely and we’re happy to help when I wanted to change package on the day of the inspection, no one was available to help straight away when I called but I was promised a call back and it was only about 5 minutes and my request was no problem at all. A few days later I received an email saying my report was ready and this is when I pay my full balance, the website was so easy to use, I logged in and went to the inspections page where it showed me my balance and allowed me to pay. Following this the PDF of the report was on the next page for me to view and save. Really a 10/10 service and I couldn’t recommend more.

Very professional with every aspect of service from our initial enquiry to all communication throughout. Our snagger, Mark, was prompt and very attentive. Given that we had been in a year and snagged lots of things ourselves already I was impressed with his knowledge and ability to go that extra distance giving us the reassurance we had been seeking about anything that needs addressing in our house.

Me and my wife are extremely happy with the work that our inspector Julie has done at our new home. Investigation was really thorough and the report is extremely detailed. She found many snags that we could not have spotted to be fair! Also, she has been very respectful of COVID19 restrictions and the report has been released in the agreed timescale. . Totally recommended and thermal imaging scan is definitely a plus to consider (glad we added it!).
eye opener
I approached house scan from the recommendation of a neighbour and I'm very happy that I did. I was excited to move into my new house and everything was going so well, the house builder for the site was also super nice. Well, that was all smoke and mirrors as the defects that where picked up from report shocked me and my partner. The report was incredibly useful in helping us get our home finished to the correct standard. The customer service and after care has been second to none.

Overall I’m pleased I got it done however I didn’t realise it was going to take almost 7 hours for a three bedroom house.
Very friendly inspectors who explained most of the things they found before adding them to the list to help me understand and very helpful in their after care.
I would prefer if they made it clearer in their reports which snags are just ‘best practice’ or actual issues with the build to avoid arguments with your site team. Also possibly include certificates to back up building regs that have been picked up in your inspection eg most recent legislation on fire doors so that when your housing company tries fobbing you off with excuses you can hand them evidence straight away to back up your report. (It may just be that my housing company liked to argue with anything in the report before fixing it but these would have helped me)
Other than that, a pleasant experience for anyone who knows nothing about houses as their knowledge is great and they can pick up on things the average person wouldn’t have a clue about!

Overall, great but still room for improvement.
Having moved into a new build property, it is always a battle to get everything right first time around and things do take some time to settle.
The team over at housescan were always prompt in responses for any queries which I had.
Things which I feel could be improved is perhaps explaining which NHBC/building regs the points belong to, this way it is far easier to say if a particular issue is a building regs issue or a "nice to have" issue.
It is normal to have a 50-page document from most snagging companies, and that's why I hope with the above feedback they can make theirs even more comprehensive for others in the future. I was happy with my document but did struggle to explain certain areas to the builders.

If you are buying a new build you need this service.
Housescan report…
A very professional job carried out by Julie. She was obviously very experienced and had a very good eye for detail. Julie presented a very comprehensive and detailed report accompanied by a picture of every snag.
My wife and I are currently purchasing a new build and this report has giving us peace of mind knowing the current state of build and any faults that need rectifying.
180 snagging faults were found and therefore I have retained a sum of money until such time these faults have been corrected.
I will definately be bringing Housescan back to check these faults on completion.
We have no reservation in recommending this company, certainly worth the money.

I have heard a lot of horror stories about the quality of new builds, so from the outset I wanted to get a snagging survey done even after assurances from the developer that they would do a quality check so it wasn't needed (yeah, right!).
Darren was incredibly professional, helpful, and friendly. As soon as he entered the house he made sure his shoes were covered to keep everything clean, and we discussed the history of the house, the developers, and his experience in the industry.
We also discussed any issues that I had found prior to the survey, and he talked me through the process for the day. After each phase of the inspection he discussed the issues that he had found so far, and he kept me informed of what was going on.
He didn't stop all day, and didn't leave until about 5:30. For reference, I was looking out for snags and being picky, and ended up with around 65. Darren left having found 300. The report itself is clear and allows snags to be easily identified, and provides a good description of the faults.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anybody in the future. They're well worth the very reasonable costs.

Great Service …
Ended up going with HouseScan after checking over previous reviews, and I do not regret it. Price was in line with others I looked at, service was excellent. Booking was simple, regular e-mails received before hand and our surveyor Julie turned up on time with a call just before hand. Julie filled me with confidence when performing the survey, spent the majority of the day at the house and was very helpful. The report came a few days later with a courtesy message by Julie which was a nice touch, the report was very detailed and easy for my site manager to use. As an added bonus I got access to an online site to manage any further snags and update the report which is really helpful. Would definitely recommend.
New to new builds but glad I found HouseScan
Having heard about poor build quality and some bad experiences from other buyers on the new build site I was buying on, I decided to research and put money aside for a professional snagger. From the moment I found HouseScan everything was clear and easy to follow, and my initial enquiries and questions were answered promptly by Pippa and Leanne.
Darren came to snag on 21st Dec and I received his comprehensive report today on the 29th; super quick considering the festive break. Darren picked up lots of issues I would not have noticed or even been able to see, and I’ve found the thermal imaging and go-pro roof photos the most eye opening part - poor workmanship could cost me hundreds in wasted heating bills!
Darren also kindly took the time to talk me through how to best use my report to negotiate with the site manager - I had been really apprehensive as other owners on site said the building company didn’t take too kindly to people getting a professional snagger in. However I feel I now have the confidence along with the superb, comprehensive report with photos and images to challenge as necessary, and for the relevant tradespeople to put the issues right.
Money well spent in my opinion, great value and very nice team of professional people to deal with - thank you for all your help HouseScan!
