Where to start? First pair I ordered came with a manufacturing fault (0.5 inches reduced height in heel cup material for right shoe vs left). Once replaced it appears the heel cup is still an issue the way it was intended - frighteningly little support for the ankle in these shoes which causes pain and discomfort on the terrain they are “made for”. I used to love my x-talon ultra 260 v2 and it begs the question - why did Inov8 turn away from the shoe models that had become so popular? This will be the end of my time using Inov8 unless I hear they’ve turned the ship around and put more onus on quality.

If you've got a muddy, slick run, this is the shoe. The unfortunate part for me is that I could not get my right foot comfortable. I don't usually have problems with running / trail shoes, but for some reason, the top of my foot felt uncomfortable immediately when I stepped in the shoe. I tried all sorts of tricks to get the fit right, but alas, I could not. I think people with a need for a shoe that performs in the mud that can get the fit right will love this shoe. I wish I could have gotten there but had to return it due to the discomfort.

I use these for orienteering and adventure racing, so pretty rough off-trail conditions. Comfort is exceptional - wearing them for up to 24 hours straight is not a problem. Like slippers. Lots of room for toes, nice and snug around the ankle. The grip is great and does not wear very much at all. The black plastic on the uppers started to come loose almost immediately but did not affect performance. Recently the uppers separated from the sole which I sealed with silicone but that didn't last too long. These have been used for no more than a year, but in some very tough terrain. I have bought a second pair. Both my wife and I think the sizes vary enough for us to feel the difference - both mine and her second pair felt smaller than the first.

If you buy this shoe because of the cool name, there is nothing wrong with ist. But thats about all I can say. Technical details are correct. Otherwise this shoe is not better or worse than shoes from competition. Personally I find the advertisement vastely exaggerated.

Bought these shoes for wet and muddy days on the moors when my everyday trail shoes just don’t cut it. I’ve had them for a couple of months now and every run I’ve taken them out on I’ve found them seriously uncomfortable, even having to cut long runs short due to the pain. I’m sure it’s just me not getting along with this particular shoe as I’ve owned multiple pairs of Inov8s before and not really had this issue, just frustrating.

Unbelievable grip in mud - can’t believe how planted my foot feels after all this rain. It gives a lot of confidence. I remember trying mudclaws in the past but they were always too narrow. These are very comfy in wide size and are a true fit size 10. Awesome value at £75 in the black Friday sale.

Great grippy shoe and provides absolute reassurance on muddy slopes. Only initial issue is there is a lack of snug heal feel, and when I am in sucking mud my heel is lifting at the back. The shoe is a good feel do it isn’t a size issue. A little more stiffness at the heal would be good too.

Nicely built trail running shoe, but I ordered the Wide size and it was way too tight. I don't even have a wide foot. I just wanted a little extra room. I returned the shoe.
